  • SO HIGH!

  • The influence of this single was truly seismic. In it's own way as influential as the Pistols

  • this was the chart version from 1975 so forget the rest lolo.

  • Here is the address to the ACTUAL ORIGINAL radio version. :) Just put YOUTUBE.COM in front of this: /watch?v=iukUMRlaBBE

  • I was a kid when they played this song on my local *AM* radio station. They had a call-in show called "Instant Request", and I requested this song more than once while it was still a hit. I also got to know the DJ, Frank Derak". This version is different form the one that was actually played on the radio. It's CLOSE, but it doesn't quite sound "right"! OK, no, it definitely isn't the same. Still, not bad.

  • @morning1500 I believe there are at least two different edits of this - one is listed on my CD as "1975 US Chart Single Ver." and is 3;35 long, then I also have another edit at 3:08 called the "1981 Reissue Ver." - both on a CD called "Krafterk: Werke Westwood One Rarities On Compact Disc Vol. 55 - I suspect this may be a bootleg.

  • there's at least two different single edits based on the original version

  • The irony is, although the long version is ultimately better, as I grew up with the single version I feel it has more dynamism, as it's straight and to the point .

  • this defo has new wave sound, unless i need my ears fixed, what do others think, i know new wave did not exist in 1975

  • @djmusicjac It's def from 1975... i was fucking there....

  • @djmusicjac It's not "new wave" this track is from 1975 !

  • @colt79sigma i hear new wave sound but i do appreciate what you say that new wave did not exist in 1975, however it does fit in with the new wave or do you not think so???

  • @colt79sigma i know synthpop came out later than 1975 but i would say this is synthpop love it

  • Try BAN, FUNK IT, amazing new tune!!!

  • wow, I remembered this song with a more driving beat -

  • @SupernalOne Maybe you remember the version from "The Mix" album?

  • @SupernalOne

    /watch?v=gChOifUJZMc

  • I ACTUALY BOUGHT THIS WHEN IT WAS FIRST RELEASED LOL

  • My mom had this way back in the 70's ..... and i wore it out - i cried when it broke!

  • The song that changed music forever.

  • I definitely agree that the ending editing was totally weak and I think the single should've been at least a minute longer (in the 4:20-4:40 range)

  • This is the UK radio edit. Different countries had different radio edits.

For me this is a perfect single version apart from two things:

    1. It gives a false impression of the full version. People expected the album version to be similar, only 7 times as long.

    2. The ending is a bit weak. I would have gone into another chorus of "Wir fahr'n ..." and done the next verse, finishing on another "NYAAAAAOW!". Still it would have added another minute, and 4 minute singles just weren't played in 1974.

  • @mailbox827 The funny thing is, we all know what you mean by "NYAAAAAOW!" lol

  • @horntablet - been eating razor blades again? ;-)

  • This is the original UK single re-lease from 1975 as I have a copy its the one in the video

  • @horntablet - This is definately the single originally released in the UK, I bought it at the time, personally I like this version very much.

  • Sorry Folks!

This is not the original single version from the release in 1975.

  • @KulaBeatle This is definately the version originally released in the UK - I know because I bought it then.

  • @hudsocat77 Huge 18th birthday party for me when this was in the charts! This got played and we did some crazy dancing to it! 70's was when you knew people and parties were crazy (drugs and no AIDS!). And the music was pretty crazy too. Donny and Marie Paper Roses followed by this on the radio! Good good times!!!

  • it kinda misses the point of the song, editing it like this :/

still, thanks for uploading it. i always wondered how they'd managed to edit this down :P

  • It was edited down so it could get radio airplay, which it did - it was a top ten hit in the U.K. & did very well in the US as well - this made people curious so they then bought the album to her the full lenth version.

  • @colt79sigma right on!

  • thats is the chart version as stated,i have it my self with same cover ;-) you are correct colt i live in uk ;-)

  • I'm still waiting for this to come out on CD. I was surprised they didnt add it on a bonus disc of the new remasters.

  • Short and sweet!

  • There's also a German single version of this, which is different - uses the peaceful section near the beginning of the album track.

  • Huge, huge thanks for posting this. My dad used to play me this 7" version when I was a kid but I could never find it anywhere - I loved it so am massively grateful I can hear it here.

  • my dad always used to play the 9 minute long version in the car when we would go out on the weekends. great memories. too bad those days are long gone.

  • they sure have cut this song down quite a bit. Its gone from 22 minutes to around 3 minutes
