You can't have a "Protestant" version of Islam, because there are no clergy in Islam.

Shi'ism is Ironically the strand of Islam that implemented clergy.

Alawites are not Shi'ites or orthodox Muslims. Shi'ites are more like.. say, mormons, or Rastafairians. However, these two groups are at least somewhat similar to Christians.

Alawites are completely different theologically than Alevis, who this video talks about. Alevis are Shi'ite Muslims.

Alivis live in Turkey they are like 10-15 millions and they are also Gholat Ashi'aa but in a different way

they live mostly in turkey I think in Hatai and Syria and a smaller number in Lebanon I also know that Al-Asad family in Syria are Alawites

@drMetzitli Yes. My family are Alawites. They are Ottoman Turks who converted to Shia Islam, they settled in Lebanon Syria AzerBaijan and North Iran. Her dad is from the Syrian Turkish border Latikya and her mum is from Tabriz. I have family pictures of my family wearing Turkish clothes. But the Ottoman Sunnis were in Lebanon Syria and turkey too. The Ottomans were Hybrids-the original Turks were Mongolian and then they mixed with Greek Whites to form the Ottoman Empire.

The Alevi's from turkey are originilly Kurds but they are assimilated to turks in many years ago!

In Kurdish they call it Alewi and its the same bellieve as Alawi and shia's there is not so much difference between them! and the Alewi relgion is also samilair with the Kurdish zarathustraian religian "the religian of the sun" whats excist many thousands of years befor the joods,christian and the islam!

And my Turkish Alevi friends dad told me that we share the exact same beliefs except in Turkey they do not have the letter "w" which is why they say "vallah" instead of "wallah"

The only point we alevis agree with the shia ist the love to the family of the Prophet Mohamed s.a.v, but especially Alevis from Turkey have also other Elements of Rituals from many cultures and believes. We have many differences to majority groups of Islam.
