People will listen with awe to Glenn Gould's interpretation of this concerto even 500 years from now. Fortunate are the members of the orchestra from Ottawa and its conductor. They became immortalized with this recording. In truth, they deserve plenty of credit for their contribution.
Glenn can be so soulful and introspective; and he has the technical means to bring the best out of himself which makes him without equal when it comes to interpret JSBach.
Beautiful. This movement has always seemed to me the most obviously transcriptional -- the right hand has the part which must have originally belonged to the solo violin, while the left hand merely duplicates the continuo part the whole way through, with its most daring departure from this being when it plays an octave lower than the continuo for a few bars in the middle), but GG nevertheless makes it work beautifully as a keyboard piece.
this man is straight up a god. there is no person that I have ever been exposed to living or dead that can completely take me away from everything in my world and put me directly in that transcendental state of ecstasy that he draws us to.
Thank you so very much for this piece of perfection! Seeing & hearing GG brings such beauty into one's life. His ability to be totally at one with Bach, the piano, and the perceiver remains utterly ineffable to me.
God, outrageous.

Miraculous, the ridiculous camerawork notwithstanding.
