Shows are fun and all(its always good to keep with the local scene if music is your thing) but i swear its too much. All I really listen to is baroque music. SM57 isnt supposed to be slobbered all over, thats why there is the SM58. They have the same circuitry and frequency response. But then again, I'm assuming Robin just asks for one for aesthetic purposes and the sound guy says "fine whatever you want."
Too bad they keep taking down the SNL performance of this song, which was great. I keep watching this one because it's a pretty good performance and I use it as a vocal warmup. Seems other performances are not as good recordings either. Still love the song though :)
It's strange, but vocally they remind me of the band America. Same type of harmony structures. Same tone even. There's somthing else there lurking in the back of my brain, but I can't quite put my finger on the sound.

SM57 isnt supposed to be slobbered all over, thats why there is the SM58. They have the same circuitry and frequency response. But then again, I'm assuming Robin just asks for one for aesthetic purposes and the sound guy says "fine whatever you want."

It is probably his request.....Bono from u2 used sm57's to record his voice in the studio for years. It's not that uncommon.

Too bad they keep taking down the SNL performance of this song, which was great. I keep watching this one because it's a pretty good performance and I use it as a vocal warmup. Seems other performances are not as good recordings either. Still love the song though :)

It's strange, but vocally they remind me of the band America. Same type of harmony structures. Same tone even. There's somthing else there lurking in the back of my brain, but I can't quite put my finger on the sound.

I like this performance best of any I've found. I love the round-type harmonies at the end - that's not on the studio track.
The song is haunting and mesmorizing. Great songwriting because that stuff's all in the melody.

i wouldn't go as far 2 say there unique cos theres loads of bands like this in every town pub circuit they were jus lucky enough 2 get found got some great songs tho

If you think this recording is good, listen to it on CD it sounds 10 times better, but no matter what the quality, fleet foxes always sound awesome!
