Okay, it's official. Paul McCartney is not equipped to churn out a song that is not absolutely golden. He can make a rock song that lifts up a party, a love song that words cannot describe, or even heavy metal that is pleasing even to people who think heavy metal is as bad as rap.

This is like the hundredth time that I've listened to a Paul song and been speechless. I don't know how it's possible, besides the fact that he's Paul McCartney and obviously has magical powers.

McCartney goes folk, and as with everything else he tries his hand to, nails another beauty. Lovely, simple song - written in a blackout apparently.....

Many comments here about a lack of edge to his lyrics - but his scantion is wonderfully smooth, and I sometimes wonder if the lauded 'edginess' of other writers is sometimes an excuse for what is actually a lack of care/ talent.

There are so many words that only seem to appear in a Macca song....calico being just one ...
