i've been to russia 5 times to work in an orphanage that we sponsor. the one we sponsor (as well as LOTS of other people) have most of there kids in foster homes & most of the kids make excellent grades. a lot of the abortion issue is the government's fault. the government is realizing that their population is decreasing and are actually paying parents to have more kids. sadly, the government has closed the door to foreigners adopting & this is causing the orphan and abortion rate to rise.

Nobody said that to have a child is a simple task-but to have an abortion is not any easier. I had my 3 children and my wife can verify you, that is much better than to have an abortion. With open parenting, education and awareness, many situations of rape are preventable and at the least, not repeated.

I agree with snails. My sister in law was a product of rape and she is an incredible woman who is raising 4 wonderful kids (one a girl she adopted from an orphanage in China). The world would have been deprived of a great person if my mother in law though like Riotgirl.

Many people have abortions even in situations and places where it is not legal. Other illegal abortions are done because women can't afford it. It's not a matter of the pocket, but of the conscience. So legality and price don't affect whether or not some people will do it anyway, but they do discourage those who are only doing what they think society is telling them to.

I know plenty of people who would never get abortions themselves but respect other women's choices. we just have to respect each woman's choice and her body. end of story. we can duke this out for ages but that won't solve anything. so I just think there needs to be a compromise here: if you don't like abortion don't have any. Abortions before the 12-15 week I have no problem with. I'm a big advocate of contraception and the day after pill. I don't understand why women and children have to go through with these late term abortions. They need to educate them about abstinence, contraception, and their own bodies.
