Carter is both right and wrong here. There is most definitely a tone of race to the tide of anger we have seen thrown against Barack Obama since he took the oath of office. He recognizes and relates to underprivilaged and middle class citizens and addresses their needs. He has a clear agenda to move this country forward through energy reform, healthcare, and education. He considers all sides before he moves forward on an issue. For these reasons alone he is the best President we've had in a long time.

Tobias, polls from various organizations have shown that the public are in support of a public option. The majority DOES want one.
If I was to take an educated guess, I would say it is roughly 3/5's who support with 1/5th vehemently opposed and 1/5th unfavourable towards a public option.
Even Bill O'Reilly came out in support for it last night. As for Jimmy Carter, I agree, he isn't progressing the health care debate as such, just making an observation by the looks of it.

If you really think that race has nothing to do with it, then you are either in deep denial or just outright lying. People need to remember that only 43% of white voters voted FOR Obama. That leaves a majority (57% of white voters) who voted AGAINST him. Let us not forget how these crazy Obama opposers campaigned against him- with the same tactics in use today being used to rebut every single initiative the White House has. I actually disapprove of how Obama has handled the debate in many in instances, but this isn't to say that I disagree with his plan. And again, we're only speculating what his plan is based on what we know about the house and senate bills. At any rate, if I took the healthcare poll, my answer would be crammed into the same percentage with people who disagree with his plan. Independent anonymous polls are not a good way to gauge a President's approval rating. -end

Most black victims of crime were attacked by another black person. If you look at interracial crimes, the ratio is lopsided with the offenders being mostly black. But interracial crimes do not happen that often.

wrong. Interracial crimes, depending on the zone, can be quite astounding. St. Petersburg,Fl for instance has a robbery rate of blacks robbing whites higher than whites robbing whites. Almost 2 to 1. The population per jailed percentage is 2% whites and 16% blacks. Does that mean that St Pete cops are racist? Or does it mean that the majority of robberies are from blacks?
An honest man would question both.

Sadly, this is an issue that can only be healed with time. True, a lot of time has passed and it has not completely burned out, and in truth it probably never will, at least not completely. Perhaps I will get flamed for saying this, but I noticed that in the videos of these protests, the audience is mostly made up of middle aged or older white people. I do believe we grow less intolerant and more embracing with each generation. Lest we forget, the youth vote was a huge part of Obama's win.
