  • Just read James Corden's autobiography. It's great, especially when he's talking about the History Boys.

  • seems strange they made a film about oxbridge application, but I suppose it is quite a part of British culture - the annual ritual of all the clever sixth formers in the country

  • Anybody who thinks this film is rubbish needs to go back to school.

  • ONE OF THE MOST STUPID " FILMS" i have ever seen. It's not even a film...Disasterous

  • this was filmed at my school

  • @MrHAGaLOT Same! 1:59 is where year 11 hang out :P

  • @lizasartre fair enough x

  • studyig this for english .. quite good actually :Lx oh cource they dont metion the pedofile and the teacher sucking off a student in the trailer:Lx

  • @rhiannonanwen - so that old teacher gives one of the buys a blowjob?? O_O

  • @1412Bunny no , theres a teacher called irwin , and him and dakin kinda have a thing going on , dakin offers him a blow job , or asks for one , not sure , and then the old teach hector , feels up the boys on the back of his motobike x

  • studyig this for english .. quite good actually :Lx

  • Studied this play for my English A Level last year, its bloody brilliant! :D

  • @FunkChicks08 It seems like EVERYONEs studying this! So's Haileybury :L its pretty queer though~

  • woop Oxford !

  • filmed at my skool wgbs lol

  • love this movie <3

  • great song with a grossly tacky trailer. fucking hell that was garish. poor song.

  • Blur - The Universal going on there,

    Blur are really cool

  • good

  • Does anyone know the brand of the satchel/school bag Dakin carries in the film? I've been looking for a proper one and like the look and size of his.

  • @dan2hamilton Love Hot Fuzz and SotD, but you discredit much British cinema: An Education, The Kings Speech, all the Bond movies, the Harry Potter series, The Queen, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Lawrence of Arabia, Trainspotting, semingly every costume drama ever (Atonement, The Duchess, Elizabeth etc etc), and greatest of the lot, fucking Monty Python! We may have some films that aren't great, but at least we had nothing to do with Pearl Harbour, Waterworld or Batman & Robin...

  • @Savanna2006 actually come to think of it i was just pissed at how much this movie sucked, and just poasted that out of anger.i actually like alot more british movies and the more i think abut it the more i own, like run fat boy run, i just seen the Kings speech the other day and loved it, and Monty Python the meaning of life is on of my favorite movies of all time.

  • @dan2hamilton I'd forgotten Run Fatboy Run, that film is absolutely brilliant, if only for the fight between Simon Pegg's character and Dylan Moran's. Hilarious.

  • @Savanna2006 I all bond films are US. Produced, directed, and written by US company's from the start.

  • @IamDrRocktopus I think we're both right and wrong to an extent. Funding for the films undoubtedly comes in part from the US, and there are scenes all around the world, but primarily Bond films are shot at Pinewood Studios, 20 miles west of London if Wikipedia is correct. Not one director of a Bond film has been American (again, using Wikipedia here but it's the sort of thing it'd get right), and obviously all the Bond actors have been British/Irish. No idea about producers/writers though.

  • @Savanna2006 it depends on how you classify what makes a film British. Coincidently i am doing this for my film studies A-levels.

  • @IamDrRocktopus All The James Bond Movies have been produced by London based production company Eon Productions... and other than filmed on location have all been filmed at pinewood studios

  • @petesstuff Funded by American studios such as United Artist, MGM and Columbia pictures. Since they also 'own' the film they also have the deciding factor of a majority of what goes into it.

  • One of the best films I've seen, it's extremely true to life in the 1980's! Great acting and great general screenplay. Needed more recognition than it got!!

  • James Corden was alright in this. Shame he turned out to be a twat.

  • this is my favourite movie ever :) i watched it 5times and i am not DULL :P

  • 2 harry potter people, the hottest mamma mia man, and Smithy from Gavin & Stacey, who could ask for a better crew...

  • @luvpeacehappiness2 which are the two harry potter people?!!

  • @pheobe77511 Mr. Dursley and the woman Hagrid loves, Madame Maxime, the woman giant, they r both at the very beginning of the video :)

  • Is the film as good as the play? I haven't seen it but have it on DVD, and just seen a production of the play which was absolutely stunning and am worried I will be disapponted...

  • @MJHxoxo you'll love it it connected with me as i had a teacher like that minus the wierd urges got me from an E to a B in English and i'm dyslexic just goes to show

  • @dellumn I wept when that exploitative old pig-'teacher' offered young boys a ride and then touched them for his own cheap thrill.

  • hy did they have to have a filthy old man as a teacher? I walked out of the movies when they tried to make out it was okay for a fat pig to push its prick against someone's precious son, whom they want to stay at school so he can, hopefully, escape ugliness.

  • When I first watched this film, all I could think was WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE. granted I was like 13, but still. This movie is fucking brilliant. <3

  • Where can I find the scene when Dakin invites Irwin to let Dakin do a blowjob on Irwin.

  • what kinda pumas are those!?

  • Possibly the strangest, weirdest and most disturbing film I have ever seen in my life. And I loved every second of it.

  • One of the most amazing, life affirming movies that I've seen in my life...

  • 'blue monday', 'in between days' and 'the universal' in the same bloody trailer? Don't know anything about this film but I feel the need to watch it

  • I just rewatched this movie for the first time in a few years. Still one of my all time favourites.

  • the teacher looks like kfc colonel....

  • WONDERFUL movie. Absolute best I've seen in a while.

  • sir , sir ,sir, sir ,sir, this film is shit!

  • my school wears those ties

and it is mostly filmed in my school

  • my school wears those ties

  • blue monday. :)

  • I thought this film was funny but awfully perverted at times.. -_-

  • I love this film, I just wish Irwin and Dakin had of got together in the end

  • jesus christ, this trailer is so misleading

  • Interesting trailer. Is the movie any good? I hear it is, but this trailer seems a little dull.

  • @Noisecontroll It is an excellent movie. It may seem to drag on at some points, but once you get to the end, you'll thank yourself for sticking it out. It's a really rewarding message.

  • @Noisecontroll the movie is about five times better than the trail, you should watch it!

  • Seriously the trailer does not do the movie any justice. After watching the trailer I wasn't sure if I wanted to see this movie but I bought it anyway. It is brillant, the acting is brillant, the story is brillant, the characters are just sooo likeable. Everyone should watch this movie, it is so underrated. One of my favorite movies of all time. I loved it!

  • They mention my school in it! :D.

"We want to be a good school like Haberdashers Askes"

  • seems a good movie trailers bad though

  • Great film. Misleading trailer though

  • This movie is AWSOME!!

  • This was a great film :)

  • Don't remember a guy doing spinning gymnastics at the abbey... 1:57

  • is that uncle vernon and madame maxime from harry potter?

  • The best part of this film for me was the tension between Dakin and Irwin... The acting is really incredible :) And I believe it teaches us to see how colourful people are... there is no such thing as just black and white, gay and straight, happiness and unhappiness... usually it's all mixed up. I really love this film, I watched it second time now, but I have a feeling this won't be the last^^

  • Mmm.

  • Gay movie... literally, gay. Watch it and find out

  • @RainyDay1142 and?

  • wats the song in this trailer?

  • Great movie. Wonderful, beautiful, touching, and fun!

  • ohhhhhhmygodddddddd @0:43 Magdalen College Oxford....

I WAS THERE FOR AN INTERVIEW :'( didn't get in THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE godddddd amazing amazing amazing university

  • 0:28 'It's just one "BLOODY" thing after another.

I seem to remember something slightly different!

  • Hate the trailer. Seems too American

  • Trailer doesn't really do it justice.

  • THE OLD GUYS FROM HARRY POTTER!!!!!

  • What is the name of the song at the end?

  • @georgiebale "The Universal" by Blur =)

  • Whats the song that is playing at the beginning of the trailer?

  • @pepper70788 blue monday by new order

  • This movie is so much better than what the trailer makes it seem to be.

  • I'm writing an essay on this at the moment :(

  • All of my favourite songs... favourite film! Saw Richard Griffiths in Equus as well (with a naked Daniel Radcliffe). God, he's brilliant.

  • I think you'll find Mama Mia starred The History Boys' Dominc Cooper thank you very much, you wrote th date on here yourself :)

  • i know, but i posted this after Mamma Mia came out, so if they didn't know who Dominic Cooper was. I know this was b4 Mamma Mia, but just incase they didn't recognize him.

  • @neighboursrachelty @stylishsid I was going to say the same thing :p not that it really matters!! Glad to see him getting some mainstream success with his new film (even if its something I'll never see, regardless of how much I like him)

  • @stylishsid Lol - I was just about to comment the same thing, then scrolled down to see this!

  • I absoloutely adore this film definately one of my favourites

  • Hey anyone can tell me where i can watch this movie online for free? thx!:)

  • Don't watch it for free...give those who made it the credit by buying it or paying for a download. Come on it's not fair that people can chuck aside the writers of these sort of things, for an imorral...and normally illegal viewing-just because they can't be bothered to pay out to those who deserve it after the hard work put in to create great films, programmes etc.

    :)

  • russell tovey and andrew knott are GORGEOUS!!!!! i loved the play, and i loved the film. x

  • love this movieeeee

    and russel tovey :)

  • If you liked this movie I think you would also like "The Dead Poets Sociaty"

  • YES! I love Dead Poets and then I watched History Boys. Both amazing films. They are good to watch after each other. Similar endings though lol.

  • andrew knott will always be Dicken to me :)

  • cool..

  • where's ben? i can't see him at all and i thought he was in this movie ?

  • ben barnes? he wasn't in the film. he was in the stage version. x

  • ahhh

  • This came out the year I was applying to read History at Cambridge, but I've only just seen it

  • Can't believe i've only just watched this amazing film.

  • I saw this movie, like 2 years ago, and it hit me, it was so simple and yet so beautiful.

    Loved it

  • 1:43

  • Brilliant film. Loved it when it came out and its always hilarious and endearing despite having seen it seven or eight times since. That's a sign of a good film.

BBC2 are showing it again next Friday I think. I remember them showing it over Christmas last year too.

  • I remember going to see this in the cinema when I was 13, loved it and couldn't wait til I was older so I could fully understand and appreciate it. There was a reason for it being a 15...

  • fantastic movie, horrible trailer

  • this reminds me of my a level history teacher, ahh those years

  • i <3 this film

  • lol :P

  • yes, this is an interesting movie etc

  • I thought this movie was trash... at least up until the last 15 or so minutes of the film.

At the end, it was hard not to cry lol

  • Jamie Parker and Stephen Campbell Moore....yes please!

  • dang we have to do this for our english litrature this year, i havent the faintest idea of what the heck they're talking about.

  • dominic looks hot lol

  • I haven't seen the film yet, but I saw a performance of it at the New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth which was amazing, so I can't wait to see it!

  • Thank you!

  • what's the cure song that comes in really briefly at 1 minute

  • does anyone know the name of the song that comes in at 1:30?

  • The Universal - Blur

  • two people from harry potter r in this movie, mr.Dursley and the giant lady teacher from beaubaton academy.

  • madamme maxeene

  • Awsome movie! The actors were brilliant, their acting almost too real. I found myself asking if they were really gay in real life, especially Posner. And the comedy was subtle, yet vivid.

  • An amazing movie and Blur´s "Universal" - the perfect mixture... :3

  • i don't know if dakin was gay or bi or straight, but posner admitted he was in love with dakin, although dakin didn't return his affection.

  • i couldn't stop laughing throughout almost the entire film.

    ***** -5 stars

  • I don't really understand this film lol. We're they gay? Can you explain please lol thanks

  • Reply to sweetieluver14:

Posner was the only confirmed gay character. Irwin's sexuality is ambiguous, although he does seem to be interested in Dakin as evidence by what Posner says. Hector isn't gay -- his actions are not motivated by lust, they tie into what he says about the passing of information being an erotic act coupled with desire to be emotionally closer to the boys. Dakin is stated to be heterosexual, but develops a relationship with Irwin. It's like he'd be gay only for Iriwn. Help?

  • Yer that does, it was pretty straight forward and quite amusing. But the relationships are confusing!! Thanks

  • sounds about right lol, confusing but hilariously so

  • Was daking gay or not i couldnt work it out

  • Think He's bii, :)

  • At least experimentally - we never found out who he partnered.

  • Massive fan of the play and the movie, and i love the original cast, they're all amazing :)

  • what certificet is the film?

  • 15 :)

  • excellent film, All the actors give amazing preformances. The script is pure gold. The part where Hector talks about reading a text that you can relate to hits me everytime . 5 stars.

  • YES. I did an essay for English about how things you read can touch you like that and I wish I'd seen this film at the time, to be able to quote it.

  • i don't remember 1:57 being in the film, is it?

  • sorry, I meant 1:55

  • Oh yeah, I checked it isn't in the film, looks amazing though :)

  • 0:34 is my school!

  • I must say...this movie wasn't bad at all. i liked it :D

  • What is that song right at the end called ?

  • blur-the universal

  • Thanks

  • Just bought this movie, and now I'm gonna go watch it:)

  • The play is awesome too

  • Agreed, I preferred the play to the film, though I adored both.

  • this movie is great, the trailer doesnt do it justice.

  • Awesome film - the cast are brilliant.

  • now i wanna see it.

  • you really shoud.. the film was very good.. at moments you really did feel like you were one of them.. and there a few lines that are just to die for..

  • This movie has a sense of that other movie, "The Dead Poets Society". XD

  • ;) I love both of them, nevertheless, I wouldn't compare it. DPS is far more dramatic, moving and touching, it's got _something_ that makes spectator cry; whilst this movie is an excellent comedy - also serious and even sad at the moments, however, I couldn't cry but out of laughter.(and I did, of course)

  • what is the song at the start of this called ??

    i love this movie =) !!!!

  • blue monday by new order

    so 80s :)

  • thnx ;)

  • looks like crap

  • Not enough Stephen Campbell Moore in this trailer

    easily my favourite film :)
