@LED1512 Thank you for putting it such a nice way.sorry you think im a nut.but im not the only one who feels this way about the wife.Brians first wife and blood children feel the same way.ive watched a few interviews and there comments are close to my remarks.Brian met Melinda through dr.Landy they were friends ,what does that tell you?And do you think she would of bothered with Brian with all his problems if he were not thee Brian Wilson?i dont think so.Peace,Desiree.
@LED1512 Led we all have different opinions thats what make us different.Maybe Des is not wrong. I had the pleasure to met Brian through a mutual friend. Brian was sitting 3ft from me yet no introductions were being made. I started to get up and introduce myself when my buddy yanked me back down. He said " are you insane you can't meet Brian until Melinda gets here. After she arrived and I was introduced I understood why she controls him like Landy did. Very uncomfortable.
@craig8754 Thanks Craig for taking my back.im not a crazed fan whos harbored a 50 year crush on Brian,I just tell it like it is.I love the Beach Boys and thankBrian for all the music.an you give me a rundown the night you met Brian?Whats your take with her controling him and why did you feel unconfortable?I say she keeps him on a short leash for fear someone will make him see the light.Peace,Desiree
@spacepatrolman I was in detroit and being a major city we already had the FM "underground radio stations" as they were known in those days who played many "non commercial" songs. little bird, being one.
@TheBabyboomkidof53 there were fm underground stations in new york but they played blue cheer pink floyd and deep purple i told the ventures they should make a record the ventures play blue cheer pink floyd and deep purple with a blue a pink and a purple ventures model guitar on the cover
@spacepatrolman the DJ's on FM were left to make up their own playlists according to what they wanted to. I guess ours liked this song as it sounded like something the beatles would have had on sgt.pepper. they played blue cheer on AM to and I remember seeing them on american bandstand. the division between pop and rock didn't take hold till about 1970 as I recall. I love the ventures till this day!
@TheBabyboomkidof53 murry the k quit worfm because they were going to have the songs picked by computer roscoe went into an editorial on the air and was fired
@spacepatrolman somebody asked the ventures at their website if they were into zappa they said we are not into him but we listen to jimi hendrix a quadreplegic asked rachel hunter for a date in her website she said you sound very well adjusted to your injury
@spacepatrolman yeah it's all canned music now.a DJ just throws switches and plays commercial brakes. they would be fired if they played something of their own choosing. evil money grubbing corperations took over radio several decades ago like they did most things in america.
I will always remember this lovely summer song. I was 15 and in love and it captured the beautiful vibes of peace, love and caring from the wonderful 60's....
Can you believe it that this wonderful album peaked at #126 on the charts! The crime of the century. Even though Brian Wilson was going through mental turmoil because of all the flack he got from the band with Mike Love as the chief instigator, he still cranked out a fabulous album like Friends. Pure genius. The best song about a best friend ever recorded too. It's one of my favorites.
Someone said this below, but I shall repeat: THE BEACH BOYS FOREVER. As long as there is a sunshine, an ocean, and people Beach Boys music will live on...

The biggest problem with the albums post Pet Sounds and Pre Sunflower was the production quality.

What is it that reminds me of this song & an age where things were a lot more innocent - except if you were stuck in Nam - Peace.
