I saw a Off Road truck similar to this traveling around the world. It was in the Arizona Desert town of Sadona, USA . Does MAN build this on their 8X8 chassi ?
Gosh. There are some supremely ill-informed people commenting on this. Research and an appreciation for what an unlimited budget can yield is a good start.
Check the many off-road truck races, e.g., Paris to Dakar is a good one.
ridiculously poor design. with all the chassis flex I am amazed that the cab stays attatched to the frame let alone the camper section. Who cares about 2 feet of ground clearance if the ass end falls off
@blumajikboi You must be an engineer? Well I am not, but as far as I know, the chassis is designed to flex, otherwise you would have a good chance of breaking the chassis.
I have a 67,Kaiser Jeep M715 for sale. What a truck for rough territory! All original ... runs like a beauty. Have it on Craigs list in Fayetteville Ar.
1967 Jeep Kaiser M715 Truck - $5000
Rare military truck. You will find others NOT RUNNING, for near this price... I am asking $5,000 for one that Runs, Works and Looks great. Everything is in tact, original and working. I have many photos that I can send. It was made for hunting in rough terrain you can't beat it.
that are trucks made by unicat a german firm. sad that this firm is gone in insolvency last year. good and pathbreaking ideas. but under costumers i think. the cheapest vehicle cost around 100.000 euros.
Buffalo1973, I am partner in Tatra dealership and have competed in Europa truck trial in Tatra T813 8x8 Kolos, also we have built Tatra 6x6 rally assistance trucks for Dakar rally, so with out being big headed I know what I am talking about.
Well, DiggermanNo1, I didn't say that you have no clue what you are talking about. I said that you don't know Unicat and you do not know too much about MAN trucks.
And I believe I am right in that point.
A Unicat vehicle is built to travel the world with the capability to go offroad. But you can't compare those vehicles with a truck which is prepared for truck trail or any kind of rally.
But if you have new or better ideas for Unicat, I strongly believe that they like to hear about that. Because in the end the chassis is chosen by the customer, Unicat prefers MAN chassis because they have their reasons for that.
For those of you interested, this concept generally is referred to as "terra-crossing" & world-wide, numerous individuals utilize variety of platforms, to live their dreams.
For an extreme example, try the MaxiMog! (Based on a Mercedes Unimog platform.)
Dependability and reliability the video says --- well just look at the amount of chassis twist on these MAN trucks and anyone can see they are a poor off-road vehicle.
Tatra's are nice, but obviously not the only good offroad platform. The MAN's are very capable. Besides, most expedition campers arent going to tackle extreme terrain. Poor is hardly how I'd describe a MAN.
The MANs arent as flexible as a unimog but they still appear to have a decent amount of chassis flex. So, while not mogs, they will still leave a pimpmobile such as an H2 in the dust.
What ? Are you high ? These are the nicest HD trucks going. MAN trucks are are at a level in america could only hope for. By your comment it just shows that you REALLY don't know what your talking about, don't give up though, one day you might get it right.
Weak, so I'll go. I was in the United States Army for 8 years in the Combat Engineers, one one my duties was recovery. I have seen what works and what won't, I have pulled truck out and I have pulled trucks apart. I currently work for one of the worlds largest construction company, we own more Caterpillar equipment, International trucks than ANYONE, even Waste Management. Let me tell you I have not seen a Unicat truck up close but they look damn good from here. O.K ... your turn
The music is from one of my Andrew Blake porno movies. - '"marvel at unspoilt nature"...well it WAS unspoilt until some knob in a massive exhaust spewing, plant crushing, track leaving, penis substitute truck came along. get out and walk, or ride a mountain bike. Then you can brag about circumnavigating the world.
You really need to see these vehicles in person in ordinary city traffic. They are so solid and massive they make the nicest vans and rvs look like pathetic tin boxes. Pictures and videos give an idea, but are inadequate. Just like you need to see whales in person to appreciate them, you need to see a Unicat in real life driving down a city street.
Wow! That is a bad ass BEAST! Those are great for the deserts in Iraq, because in the under carriage there is an "Ore-Drill" so you can find and tap into an oil resource to refuel and travel another 300 KM to find another Oil resource. For your safety, you can radio in a rescue helicopter if you can not find another Oil source.
i see these all the time in anchorage (alaska). almost all of the drivers are circumnavigating the world. you truly have to stand next to one to truly get just how huge these things are, and capable.
nice but I don't know about paying a million. I would probably get an old deuce and a half with a box on back. They go for about $2000 in the US. And they have a multifuel engine. Can run on anything.Of course it would need good tires, because the standard mill tires suck. Build the inside, then you would have about 10k in it.
They may cost almost a million but they can kick a Hummer's ass any day! I'd rather have a Mog than a Hummer and the bumper sticker I'd put on it: "Got a Hummer? What a bummer!"
I saw a nice 6x6 unimog camper on their website once. UXL-15HD I think they called it. Another website said that particular model sold for like a million US dollars... Ouch!
