  • Rutherford is a hero.

  • young michio kaku!

  • Rutherford didn't propose the electron orbiting a core model. He just claimed that atoms had to have a massive small core. How the electrons behaved didn't he claim anything about. It was Jean Baptiste Perrin who first proposed the electrons going around the core in 1901, then Hantaro Nagaoka also tried to explain atoms in this manner. But both of these persons models were disregarded since they couldn't provide a mechanical stable system.

  • Fuck this shit, i'll be a beaver

  • Is it just me.. or is Michio Kaku a fucking boss??

  • @LittleMikeStarCraft You are a boss, make more youtube videos

  • So..................does that mean im not real?

  • @andree1991 ....

of course your real silly! it does not go enough in depth to explain that , we are all connected as one also stating that whats not visible is also real just in a diff dimension.

you have to understand your living n a lil picture when there is a way more bigger one, we are consciousness living in reality(digital physics-edward fredkin) kinda like a computer simulation...

  • fuck this shit, i'll be a stripper

  • knock knock knock Penny, knock knock knock Penny, knock knock knock penny...

  • Awesome. So it sounds like mathematically the quantum theory allows scientists to calculate with limited accuracy the positions of particles. I assume there is many uses of this, of which I can not think of any. It is 5:15am. But I am wondering since there is no light or photon microscope that wouldn't disturb the electrons position, could we not still some day create a passive measuring device that measured the emissions or spin turbulence or some other minutiae of the electrons.

  • The boring world of Niels Bohr

  • walter white principle

  • if they know how much one photon will affect an atom, they could measure where it was by watching where it currently is, and subtracting the effects of the photon, right?

  • @SmokiestPanda1 yeah but they'd need photons to see where it was in the first place which is what makes a paradox

  • @Kizz7773 but i mean that if lets say 1 photon will move the atom 1m, could they shoot one photon at it, and when the photon comes back, they see that it is at a spesific point, then just subtract 1m?

  • @SmokiestPanda1 you dont get what i mean, photons are what your eyes are really looking through, without them we wouldn't see a thing. and photons only affect the electrons around the atom

  • @Kizz7773 if one photon hits an electron and when the photon hits our eyes (if we could see only 1 photon) we see that the electron is here --------> +

then we know from before that one photon will move the electron by this much ----

so that means that the electron we saw before, originally was here ---> +

  • Dirac anyone...hello?

  • @KakHazhar

Even your comment was ignored!! sad!

  • @saurabhCherished strange thing to point out that lol, but you'l find i got replyed to on the post just below lol. well spotted by the way. idiot.

  • @Kizz7773

Are you drunk ,stupid thing? I didn't reply you!

    LOOK carefully!

  • @saurabhCherished wow that's so weird i got a notification from this vid?!

  • I JUST GOT MINDFUCKED...

  • Regardless of how smart this man is, he is a flaming homo. That in of itself will not attract the young to science.

  • @WhyUblocMe every 16 year old doing A-level physics in england learn this in a month(at the most) of their first year, quantum phenomena isn't that hard to grasp when its about electrons and photons interacting together. unless you are intellectualy lazy.

  • But if you know the energy and angular momentum of the light you use to observe, then see how it effects the particle/wave, would this not help show where the particle would be without the observer light and you could take the data to a computer?

  • @tonyrosam Michio was just using 'shining a light' as a way for the lay person to understand. The simple act of observing (read: interact with an 'outside' object) collapses the wave function and forces the particle to exist in one place at any give time instead of many places at once... which messes with how it was behaving. But wait for a professional physicist to back me on that one before quoting me.

  • @fewthe3rd electrons can absorb photons from a light source (visible light- from the electromagnetic spectrum), hence absorb their energy (E=HF) and when that happens the electron gets 'excited' (its what they call it...) and moves to an outer part of the shell of its atom. which is what they meant when they said they couldn't observe the electrons because they'd need to do it without any light. im not too sure too sure what they meant with the wave business though

  • wow i was ripin some electric guitar tonight crowds standing out side my window,hu thats cool an electric guitar,i like it!!!

  • how can a paddle wheel get better? by the mettel not being there but still generating the power, the noise hits the wheel, the wheel thanks you for the cool noise, theres not many ways a paddle wheel can get better, right the grand conclusion,it works without being there, but,,,,you have to start somewhere so you start at the wheel,it is the begging of everything yes?see ya just have to adjust how you think of things relearn the beggining,,,i got more man,i am the "anistasi's" k-key" i could just ask

  • i proved that atoms think without a dout, proven,if the atom knows to run when you look at it it thinks,it's not a frenzy,it's intentional, the people in the grocery store when come across a rock star, don't frenzy, they know what there doing,,,,,they know why there doing it, wet panties, ear shot slander, the heckler, how do you not see that atoms are alive to the point of haveing a soul, smaller dose not mean dumber,hu lumpians?

  • so,,,,,if annoying music/noise can chase people away(think machines now)then beautifull music can draw them to a place,if classical music makes plants grow better/bigger them cool music /noise can grow machines,if it is inorganic matter your working with,so if you throw noise at a paddle wheel,it should move the wheel,if you throw cool noise at the wheel it should,,,,,grow or become more efficient ,hu,think like that suckers, remember atoms (think)

  • and you people thought you where smart,,,,a test can be done to intentionally make atoms pass through solid objects, can they just pass through a glass slide or led to,is it your brain that controls your eye that is disturbing quantum mechanics or the electric impulse that disturbs,or just maybe the vision of you looking

  • ufo engines,,sound man, sound moves people away from the source, that's an engine, sound can move,so to say a piston, can move matter, even organic matter, another giant leap for america from your resident genius "kevin joseph o'connell" more latter on that!!!!!!

  • Awesome video

  • This may have no relevance towards the quantum theory (or maybe it is relevant), but the Rutherford's theory is noway correct right? because negative and positive electrons are attracted and so if they are, they would collapse right?

  • This stuff is interesting too bad, I get clobbered with newtonian mechanics problems in gen physics.

  • I talked to Malcolm longair about black holes before.

  • Nothing truly makes sense when there is no context within what Quantum Mechanics is meant to exemplify regarding reality having two kinds' the physical and the metaphysical, the metaphyiscal questions what's going on within any conscious experience, matching words within any known physical observation questions what anything truly means, which has everything to do within exemplifying as much as possible within any world view, knowing what any mind can and does "Know" within how anything works.

  • kaku hawking and the other scientists are trying to convince us that quantum physics is what they say it is but all it is is a theory nothing else, theres no proof to say it is real .

  • @skyelaw10 pls go

  • @skyelaw10 But it is the best current theory and has a fair amount of evidence, unless of course you believe you have a better one?

  • @skyelaw10 O jee. Not your type again.

  • THANK SCIENCE! Someone finally explained the "problem" with the Bohr model of atoms. I still don't buy into quantum physics and think the uncertainty principle should not be taught at all.

  • Electrons act like waves, no they don't exactly; they act like particles, no they don't exactly.

    - Richard Feynmen

  • One cannot explain any origins to life' any question becomes what is humankind going to do about any uncertainty regarding any future if one day its all going to run out and create any mass hysteria because persons dont know anything about instictive environment survival, quantum mechanics has two folds; physical reality, and whats going on within any perpetual moment within any unilateral strain within any and all of any earths deteriorizations' What is any social physics?

  • Comment removed

  • @DrFruedienslip wtf did you just write?........... i'm guessing english wasn't your cup of tea

  • @dimonai01 Flattery will get you no where. Whatdoes anyperson trulyknow aboutanything? Do scientists actually think that they can know any origins to life? Does it really matter? Unless there is more to any physics to life that we simply cannot see, Can we actually see energy or only any effects? Or are we simply trying to understand this phenomenon so that we can make more weapons for wars so some can have more money and do a little more ethnic cleansing? Is Hitler still around or something?

  • @DrFruedienslip seriously what are you saying?? lol

  • I mean 3 lol

    x=3 LMFAO

  • x+2=5 -2 -2 x=5 Problem... solved!

  • Michio Kaku is amazing at explaining things.

  • Quantum Mechanics is nothing but recycled Hinduism.

  • What Muchio's body language says everytime he speaks:

"Well, I'm Muchio, I'm God, and well...I'm talking, so shut up and let me own you all."

Science: performed behind the curtain (secret knowledge to the chosen ones)

  • "what came first the Chicken or the Egg? only exists i a three d world. and that, forever, is where i stay as a biological unit. and just to give you a giggle, God, the big bang, and or ??. maybe there is no beginning nor no end. think think think. remember, i am still stuck in a 3d world!!

  • Such great men that figured this stuff out. Way greater dan any popstar or athlete.

  • I can't fucking believe this shit has a resonating acceptance in our society. What a bunch of demented motherfuckers. What's the point of studying this shit, if doesn't help society. Look at the advancement of medicine, it only helps the rich maggots. Poor people do not get to benefit from scientific knowledge. If you are poor and have cancer, you will die. If you are rich and have cancer, you'll live a lot longer. but die eventually. Fuck science, it is only for the fucking rich motherfuckers.

  • @Rex11m Fuck Science? What are you gonna do with your computer then? Sell it? Or if it's a "P.C." just throw it away?

  • @Bullsight2020 What about my computer? I didn't get it for fucking free, so I paid for the fucking science, didn't I? So, how is fucking science beneficial? It has a fucking price! So, no, fuck science.

  • @Rex11m Here's to free shit!

  • @Rex11m UMADBRO?

  • @Rex11m not to sound to "teeny-bobber" on ya. however, when did you figure science is only for the "rich" and where did you get that from?. umm, good luck.

  • @toymay2448 What? Oh you had to ask such a stupid fucking question, didn't you? Look, don't waste my precious time with stupid fucking questions like yours. Get fucking real and look at the realities of life. I don't wish you any evil, but lets pray you don't get a serious illness that will require expensive surgeries. We'll see if you get them if you are poor, we'll just see.

  • @Rex11m even through your logic is right the profanity in language was a bit uncalled for to prove that point

  • We can now use our ability to reason, deductive logic, and extrapolation of the known evidence to know and understand things the evidence does not reveal directly, such as life after death. We have progressed enough to know and understand the fundamental truth of life. It will transform us and our world. Google "truth contest" and click on the website, then read the 1st entry "THE PRESENT".

  • oh i get it now!!!!! i under stand QUANTUM THEORY!!! HOORAY!!!

  • @Sharkole45 no u don't...

  • This 6-minute video gave me a better understanding of the Atom than did my college chemistry class, which I took last year.

  • pooooooof .....mind blown.....

  • I watched this video when I was too lazy to read it out of my textbook.

  • Electrons are both waves and point particles. They can exist in 11 dimensional hyperspace. Which makes it difficult for us to understand its laws of motion

  • This video explained quantum mechanics better than my teacher.

  • @RussianWhiteBoi This tool: +. Addition. A basic tool used to add.

  • quantum mechanics would have to do with explaining why and how we go through these proc esses of repression, which likely has everything to do with any social karma' ( memorialization) It truly questions anyones concepts within any science or any pretended physicist' as something is missing here within any preceptual context' But here we are knowing what anyone knows? These theories are simply theories and questions within how any perception sees anything? But one sees what one knows?

  • We are Atoms...We are small units of measure that another being calculates. Trust Me.

  • aha! it all makes sense now!

  • An Alien in Stargate SG-1 said their kind has found Quantum Mechanics to be a failed theory long time ago. So...

  • @mulalicanes hahaha funny. but u know sg1 isn't based on truth? and the people are accreses and acters soo basically they just read the script which is written by a guy/girl. soo if i tell u that 2pac will return year 2014 will u belive me? 2pac said "Expect me to be back like u expect jesus to be back, expect me!" and there are theories that support it but i don't belive it soo basically don't belive all u hear/read/see/

  • @MrAde9999 of course it's not based on the truth, it was just a joke. In fact most tv series and movies are full of subliminal messages designed to manipulate people

  • I still don't understand wave~particle* duality...

  • Life on Earth is Level 1 in the quantum realm.

  • 240p .... we meet again

  • @KingPebble15 lmao ive been seeing that exact comment on a ton of videos.. ah kids come up with your own stuff

  • "none of this quantum business" I find that sentence rather amusing

  • Math is the mother of all sciences...

  • Two realities. Life and death.

  • Im wondering if electrons could possibly give off waves as they move through space?

Im only in Highschool so don't laugh. I just want some clarification on this stuff.

  • Micjio kaku AND Walter lewin together!!

  • How do we know "If we move the Earth, The Earth will not do same as Electrons do.

When it goes for big ones like star and planets , we just give up to our imagination.

Electrons we can see and believe but "galaxies" we just believe they must do as we think with help of our technology. They are to big to move around or shoot. Pictures and graphs are the best we can get from them.

  • How do we know "If we move the Earth The Earth will not do same as Electrons do?" Did we tried that before?

  • @apspacking

We know because we have hundreds of satellites in orbit of the our planet, we can launch rockets into space so they must pass every point. We knew long before that how ever, Newtonian physics.

  • @birthtop excuse my ignorance, but could you clarify what you just wrote?

  • I'm 12 and yet, I already knew everything slightly mentioned in this clip. I think it's telling me something.

  • @kacikillerify "slightly mentioned", you should have omitted the word slightly. What's "it". You are simply smart.

  • @kacikillerify

That you watched the video/ ones on the same concept?

  • all this stuff is confusing but im only in high school chemistry and im bored so maybe ill learn something

  • @PeterderFleischer i'll have what you're having!

  • NEGATIVE

  • i have a question for the physicist in here ! ever since i was a kid i allways wondered how scientist find all these universal questions answered with math, they allways say it has to add up, to prove or discover anything through out the universe, so my question is what do questions have to add up to ?? i dont get it, and everyone i ask, never seems to know iether, discovering a planet or predicting somthing should be their, dark matter ect, what do questions have to add up to ??

  • @JOKAWILD26

    Let me simplify it. x + 2 = 5, x must = 3

You see how it must add up. You create theories from a small scale. So 5 + 5 = 10. You can test 5 + 5 at home and figure out its true. Now add up 456,000 + 87,876. You'll use the same tools as you did for 5 + 5 to get a number. But have you ever seen 456,000 of anything and added it to 87,876 of something? you havn't but you know if its true for 5 + 5, it must be true for larger numbers.

So thats why maths is so important.

  • @No1Brawler what you just wrote is the same thing as askin' is the same as what is the square root of x squared. i , for one, do not get that.

  • @JOKAWILD26 Math is a tool for prediction. For example, if you plotted a linear equation, you could ask yourself, "what position in this plane will I be at when I adjust my variable this far?" The function then could predict the result. So what physicists do is apply that concept to real objects. They say, "What if I throw this ball up in the air? Where will it be after this much time?" And sure enough, because physics behaves consistently, they could predict that.

  • @JOKAWILD26 The best part about mathematics though is not finding where something is at an instance, but you're able to represent everything geometrically and analyze its behavior over a period of time.

  • HEISENBERG!

  • Michio Kaku is a sensationalist and does nothing but try to further his own career by promoting his ideas. He is mostly full of crap. I've read his books, seen his "specials" and have a degree in physics. He goes to far and makes us look bad, and you fools eat it up.

  • @lethalcurrent He just wants to inform the general audience on physics. He makes it interesting. Not many will understand such things as the Schrodinger Equation, Wave-Particle Duality, Quantum Tunneling, ect. He dumbs it down so they can understand.

  • michio are a very interisting men,it cativates and capts the atencion.

  • it piss's me off when people use Time to say its impossible what is time on a Galactic Scale FUCK TARD

  • @ttim6575t2000 it's almost as bad as when some neanderthal curses on his youtube reply. like someone's son or daughter will never look at science video's here. grow up.

  • @ttim6575t2000 Uh... excuse me sir, would you please stop using that language? I sometimes use YouTube videos in my class. My students (as seen on " Are you smarter than a fifth-grader") are reading the comments as part of the study. I would appreciate it very much if you would refrain from foul language in the comments. Thank You for your cooperation.

  • @Bullsight2020 get fucked.

  • @JimBean0587 Thank You and have a nice day.

  • @JimBean0587 You told me to "get fucked" so I did...It was great! Thanks for the suggestion. Tell your sister I'll pick her up tomorrow night, right after the bars close, if she's lucky.

  • @Bullsight2020 So the teacher thing was a troll?

    pretty fucking bad troll.

  • what's the name of this documentary please ?

  • What if math could be invented/ discovered that moved at the speed of light Compt or what ever his name was tryed with many infinitys but drove him crazy

  • I used this song to time how long it took to take a shit i pressed play then left and when i came back it was at 3:04. Nice!

  • Physics & Theology # Everybody creates his God according to his own image and spirit If triangles made a God they would give him three sides / C. de Montesquieu / If physicists made God they would give him concrete physical parameters Which parameters they can be ? We know that God is something Infinite The conception of Infinity we can find in Bible & Physics Are they different ? I think they are equal Does Physicists meet God in Infinite ? Nobody knows what Infinity is
  • At the 5:09 point he says something i didn't observe before ...... "to look at an electron you have to shine a beam of light on it, but that distrurbs the electron's state" .. and then i had a flash from my memory when reading things like the I-Ching and Indian philosophers-masters they all tend to say one thing basically: the mysteries of the world of universe of existence will not reveal themselves to the invasive eye. So thats where science got a problem, they yet to find a non invasive way!

  • YOU HAVE TO CHANGE IT BY ALOT! lol

  • ...or does this mean a collective act of observation affect our world and all acts and endings of EVERYTHING??

  • But, but, one scientist I read said two inches closer to the sun would burn us to ashes, two inches further away from the sun we'd freeze to death! Is THIS the beginning of the long arguments between scientists???

  • @Licmycat That has to be the stupidest claim ever. Are sure this was a respectable scientist? The Earth constantly changes its distance from the sun every year, getting closer and further back. Its orbit is elliptical, not circular, the change in distance could be over tens of thousands of miles. The so called "scientist" you learned that from was most likely trying to promote a theological concept through misinformation.

  • @zzzIdividedbyzerozzz I see u r either a scientist or george bush. Repent before it's too late and stop beating ur wife or u deserve the same! Watch my vid: Nuclear Shotgun wedding for Science and Religion. If you don't, ur a wicked ET. Or influenced by satan's workers.

  • @Licmycat I try to educate you but you go batshit insane instead. Too stupid to understand astrophysics are we?

  • @zzzIdividedbyzerozzz Are you an ET?

  • i remember one of that guy from Darwin IV

  • angles of ENERGY is all that matters, it gives us the physical reality. the idea can be seen and studied in space in the sky because what happens up there happens down here everything is interconnected by energy. by studying metatron one will realize that the planet saturn is metatron so what does that mean? the planet saturn is the architect of our physical reality. your spiritual reality relies on your consciousness..when you die unprepared you are trapped in a nightmare lost forever.

  • there is not yet a single experiment or model sucessfully shown wave and particle natue of ligh yet.amazing nearly 1 century gone since we know both nature of light.light is a amazing ,light is a everything ,and light is nothing ,maybe there are more small particles than electrons in the atom,

  • @punjabiguyraj0001 Quarks and Gluons.

  • Walter Lewin AND Michio Kaku IN THE SAME VIDEO!!!!!!!!

  • This is great, this clip made me understand something I didn't understand about Quantum physics.

  • Danish guy cool!

  • Can anyone upload the full documentary of this film? Or what's the name of it so I can see if it's on Amazon.

  • Newton & Einstein were frauds.

Checkout "The Gravitational Force of the Sun" by Dr. Pari Spolter. Spolter shows how Newton failed to interpret Kepler's 3rd law (real gravity) & proves that the physics of Newton & Einstein are the biggest follies in human history on a par with the Inquisition.

Also, checkout "What if Einstein was wrong?" an interview with Dr. Spolter on YouTube (by ItsRainMakingTime).

For a detailed summary, google John Lear's web page "Challenging Einstein".

  • @AlbertEinsteinSr

There are no 2 modes. Relativity is a sham based on selective evidence.

It claims a large mass is necessary for warping space/time in order to bend light. But ever since Cal-Tech & Duke University proved that light can bend in the absence of a large mass& despite his own previous denials, Kaku is now on YouTube saying that EVERYTHING taught previously in the physics books is ALL wrong & must be re-written.

This starts with the truth that Newton & Einstein were frauds.

  • @bondurango This starts with the truth that Newton & Einstein were frauds.

Claiming fraud on Einstein and Newton is a superb example of ignorance. How about getting a education rather than wasting time on YT?

  • @bondurango < Fraud is a strong word. They were human beings and subject to error in thinking and sometimes had their prejudice. Einstein didn't like Quantum mechanics. Edison didn't like AC (Tesla's invention). Einstein didn't like Tesla as his father invested too much in DC generators and lost money.

Scientists are human beings and many distort data and facts. Human beings are the only animal that lie because they think too much :)

  • Lol, Walter, my man at 2:16.

  • Every time I watch a video about quantum physics, I get a little more understanding from it, but it still confuses the crap out of me.

  • @genobahamut1337 I don't blame you. It's counter intuitive and certainly

doesn't fit the Newtonian mind set. It might force a paradigmic change

in your thinking, which affects all of your thinking.

    Good luck!

  • @fntime this happened to me as a result of a drunken debate with a intelligent friend of mine. I was arrongant because I am an engineer and was completely devoted to Newtonian physics. And he was just this crazy musician with no education. But now after almost three years I see what the quantum leap really was. I can only describe it as a spritual awakening.

  • Dr Kaku, as usual explains things very eloquently. Must watch video

  • So now I know why Walter calls himself Heissenberg in Breaking Bad!

  • @alex4allofyou great show

  • Niels Bohr is danish wuhu..

  • I use this video to stop my sister from wacthing my youtube videos over my shoulder :P

  • E=mc^2 has been popularly linked in the past to the idea of "the bomb." The commenter TOLTECAATECA rightly infers that while science may give us "the bomb," or any capacity to destroy/make, it is only compassion/ethics that keeps humans from refraining in the use of it. There is nothing in science that tells us anything about what we should or should not do with our knowledge...it can only tell us what is, what can or can't be done. Not whether it should, or should not be done.

  • @wren2011 People need more of a balance, it's suprising how many SCIENCE extremists there are, people with such strict beliefs that they can hate others...science CAN be like a religion in itself, one with the same capacity to destroy as Christianity, Islam, etc. You can't make progress with just religion... but without some of the things it teaches (which by the way, we should be able to know WITHOUT Religion), we can't work together as a society, and pure knowledge doesn't get things built!

  • i wana trip acid now

  • Michio Kaku is awesome!

  • No really fucking matters how fancy or nice Einstein's E=mc2 formula is.God's 1 and only 1 true formula is much better:COMPASSION.
