Well this last month marks another milestone for the Iraqis. Civilian deaths were down by 53% and US coalition forces also had a significant decrease in losses. The Iraqi task force killed 44 and arrested a total of 58 armed resistance soldiers in under 24 hours. US forces killed 22 armed men with AK-47s and RPGs as well as 4 assault vehicles with no loss to allied forces or Iraqi forces. Now that is progress!
I think the footage and content of the new "Progress" video is excellent but found the laugh track and the choice of music distasteful. Bush's repeated claims of "Progress" are indeed absurd, but certainly not 'ha-ha funny.' I think the laughter detracts from the message, and will offend anyone who is thinking of the many dead and maimed and their loved ones during this tragedy.
I apologize to anybody taking offense. However I did not produce the show the clip was taken from. The laughter is the audience of the original show that aired it, which I believe was the Daily Show. Background - If I remember correctly I clipped this segment from "Bill Moyers Journal". Moyers interviewed Jon Stewart, and used this clip from Stewart's show as part of the interview, hence the ETV logo. My intention was the same as Stewart's - knock Bush's credibility and no one else's.
I know you meant well. For me, the laughs just detract from the message. I figured the clips came from The Daily Show, and in that context the laughter makes sense — a live, studio audience reacting to both the clips and Jon Stewart's commentary and facial expressions. Maybe it's impossible to separate the audience laughter yet keep Bush's voice...? Anywho — the selection of footage and the editing is spot-on. Keep up the good work!
But America IS making progress. We have always been making progress, in much the same way that Oceania is always making progress against Eurasia or Eastasia.
I wish there was more laughing in the video. I'd like to see the same video with louder, more intense and humiliating laughter. LOL! Otherwise, brilliant video!
There were WMD's. The second in command at the time Iraq was invaded admitted to the fact that they had WMD's air lifted to syria days before the invasion.Just something to think about... We dont have any way to prove it but who knows. I just hope its over soon! To many good people dying on both sides of the line.
