dont get the HTC evo and i will never reccomend it to pple. its a good fone. but i stayed on my moms for a long time and it fried the battery. she had to get a new one. but it was for free cus they told her they have been doing that alot. I love the EPIC!!!((:
Samsung is the most advanced Technology company in the world. Everyone of their products are superior from T.V's, to Washers and Dryers. Why would it be so hard to imagine they couldn't be better than HTC? HTC is a Korean company that literally makes crap, BTW I am an Electronics RF Engineer.

Like me... I like the EVO but I need a Keyboard.
For every one that says that the pictures look better on the epic even though the evo has an 8 megapixel camera and the epic only has 5. Well that's because pictures look better on the epic because of its super AMOLLED screen, BUT once you transfer the pictures you took to your computer or send them to another cellular device, then you will see the difference proving the evo's pictures are wayyy better

i guess you could argue that they want to sell the phone that costs $50 more, but everything she said is true, the screen is better and the qwerty board is nice. the only thing the evo has is a bigger screen (like 2mm) and a little better interface. android 2.2 will be on epic soon and then it will blow evo away.
@USAFALAXUK The qwerty board isn't that good and she conveniently leaves out some info such as the evo has better cameras (both front and back) . And how can you say the epic will be a beast with 2.2 since a. the evo will have 2.3 soon and b. touchwiz can lag alot. plus samsung has a history of not updating their phones. But you're right, other than leaving all this out the video's not biased at all. Go watch the cnet comparison.
@skarolaxify the QWERTY board is fine, i've played with the phone at the store and the QWERTY board works just as fine as any other. are you a black berry user? i here they really like their keyboards. anyway yeah the cameras are better are paper but when i took pictures with each phone the EPIC took the pictures better, which doesn't make sense to me because the evo has an 8 megapixel camera whereas the epic has a 5. i've seen the c-net comparison. still think epic offers more
@USAFALAXUK I'm not a blackberry user but my phones have had keyboards and imho this one is not as good. My dad (who uses blackberry's and an i760, so he is ALL keyboard) actually said that he would take the evo simply because he felt he could type just as well onscreen, so why have the added bulk. I agree that the pic is subjective, since the mpxl difference only matters with huge pics, but my dad and I were both at the store 2 days ago and are probably both going to get the evo by next week

actually tests done by cnet and phonedog and phone arena say that the hummingbird processor is faster than the snapdragon and once the epic gets the android 2.2 froyo update itl blow away the evo because the epic is only slightly behind right now.
its only 50 dollars more than the evo and you can get the epic for 150 at amazon
and the AMOLED screen not only looks better than the evos screen but it conserves a TON of battery life
@iamawesome1001 I canagree with you about the specs, but I don't completely believe the benchmark tests done by cnet & phonedog. They could be bias due to promotional reasons. Its good to know its only $50 more though. Yes, the AMOLED screen looks better, but the extra screen size of the EVO comes in handy.Plus, the digital function buttons on the epic are annoying & aren't functioning properly. That will not be fixed because it is hardcoded into the touch screen. and get amobile battery charger
i had the evo but exchanged it for the epic. i have absolutely no regrets. the epic 4g has a better display and has a great keyboard to really give you that survey the web experience as oppose to the evos keyboard which takes up half the screen...not to mention increased error.
Im turinging 15 this October and Im getting a new phone. Would this phone look too obnoxious for me? Be honest cuz its like what 4 inches or something. Is it like gonna look weired for a teen to have this phone, Cuz if it does then Ill just get the Samsung Intercept. The review was great.
It's in Sprint's interest to get the Epic out there. The Evo has no problem being sold out so they're hoping to shift some of buyers on the wait list to an even more expensive phone. Sounds like smart marketing to me.

I had both phones in my hand @ a sprint store two weeks ago. I choose EVO. The Epic wireless video output is not available with some of the tv or monitor out there,

Owned each of the phones now. The Epic is the clear-cut winner all-around. No battery-life issues (even with heavy usage.) The screen on the Epic is insane compared to the "washed-out" colors of the Evo. Not to mention the fact that the Epic's screen is Gorilla Glass and virtually bullet-proof. The Hummingbird processor destroys Snapdragon in real world usage, with the Epic being "snappier" in every way. It also has a 6-axis G-Sensor and a better QWERTY than either of the older Touch Pros.

I wish Sprint could give me a Motorola Android phone.....3.5 to 3.7 inch display ..3G!!..so I wouldnt have to pay extra every month. Yea I'm cheap. Im with Sprint cause they have that great $69.99 basically everything plan, saves more than other carriers...so I dont wanna start paying like on those other carriers.
What really sucks is that the Samsung Epic does not have the Samsung Keypad keyboard like the other galaxy S phones which SUCKS! I wish it would have that option, ii think ii am going to go with the EVO i'm not sure though, I mean yeah the Epic is faster but ii am a HUGE texter. I'm tired of the STOCK android keyboard. First of all the evo can easily become DLNA certified thru an app or an update so having the actual HDMI is a win... Honestly the display of the evo is beautiful until you hold it against the epic, but who will walk around with two phones comparing... Why have a physical keyboard if you want a touch phone, the display of the evo is big enough so u wont make mistakes textin (i guess for roms a plus for the epic) sense beats touchwiz sorry... epic price is redic its not worth 50 more than the evo

If you don't want to admit it,it is fine with me.Those who just find out a bit more of Hummingbird on internet can easily find articles on Hummingbird beating its competitors.
I will take epic because of SUPER AMOLED. as far as i know, epic has HDMI output with usb connection. keyboard is attractive to me too.but evo is bigger thus surfing web makes easier. for heavy texters, EPIC IS THE BEST.my overall verdict is that Epic is better.

I just used the EPIC in radio shack, the rep had it. it has such a better screen, more vivid, uses less battery. The camera is not only a 5 MP though. All in all, still better than EVO

I understand the convenience of DLNA but on the downside, not ALL TVs currently have them, and most users who have a LCD/Plasma TV are not latest gen. and do not have the option of the widely growing technology. Plus, wireless transfer IMO will always be less quality than a wired transfer. But.. I mean, the EVO is just gorgeous, and samsung phones in my experience are faulty and are more hyped up than what they tend to be. Samsung instinct, for example. BIG let down.

@vduong27 Yup,still I don't trust the quality of products of taiwan brands. htc quality is still ok because it is not mass producing like Nokia or Samsung. Once they grow bigger,taiwan quality tends to suck more than Japan or Korea brands. this is my experience. it might not apply to everyone though.

Lol i remember when they were toting the EVO all over the place now the EPIC is supposed to be hot stuff? I'm thinking I'll stay with my EVO, more TV's/monitors support HDMI than DLNA. I love my kickstand, Touchwiz is a piece of trash iPhone rip off, I can go on all day lol. But I am glad Sprint's starting to get some big boys out, but HTC is definitely doing it up in the smartphone game.

EPIC reserves at sprint stores are all sold out now! I didn't expect EPIC to be that popular,given Motorola and htc popularity in android market.But I do feel that sooner,more players would join Android party. WE are going to see stiff competition,I guess Samsung would come out as winner given its size and agression and technological prowess.
I bought the EVO and ended up returning it. Sense is HORRIBLE. Not to mention as soon as I saw the performance of the hummingbird VS the snapdragon and the epics 10 times better GPU I pretty much threw the EVO through a Sprint stores window and went on the waiting list for the Epic.
Rofl, not the best move to show the person playing the game smashing into a wall at the very beginning. But anyway, I do like the physical keyboard, its always kind of nice, plus Swype as a second option, sweet. Also the AMOLED display is probably my fav part. That said, that whole wireless video thing is sweet but honestly what is the chance your tv has that, like nill. The option for hdmi out would be better. Plus, Samsung has also kind of caused me problems in the past, but thats just me

@ciprianmc1 sprint isnt going against one of there own phones its just a tag team. i think they should've waited a little longer so when the evo dies down a little the samsung epic blooms. 1/2 of the ppl that got the evo will prob get the epic. thats buisness right there. buisness means that they will get newer and better phones so some people might want to wait a lil

Wanna know what's funny? The evo is shorter and thinner than the epic.
Evo being 4.8 x 2.6 x 0.5
Epic being 4.90 x 2.54 x 0.56
It's a little wider but people saying the evo is sooo much bigger go read something before you talk.
The evo's screen is easier to read than the epic's in sunlight.
I do love the AMOLED screen cause it's pretty, but my god the touch buttons on the epic really piss me off!

i had the evo but exchanged it for the epic. i have absolutely no regrets. the epic 4g has a better display and has a great keyboard to really give you that survey the web experience as oppose to the evos keyboard which takes up half the screen...not to mention increased error.

It's in Sprint's interest to get the Epic out there. The Evo has no problem being sold out so they're hoping to shift some of buyers on the wait list to an even more expensive phone. Sounds like smart marketing to me.

I had both phones in my hand @ a sprint store two weeks ago. I choose EVO. The Epic wireless video output is not available with some of the tv or monitor out there,
The keypad is not a big deal for me.

Owned each of the phones now. The Epic is the clear-cut winner all-around. No battery-life issues (even with heavy usage.) The screen on the Epic is insane compared to the "washed-out" colors of the Evo. Not to mention the fact that the Epic's screen is Gorilla Glass and virtually bullet-proof. The Hummingbird processor destroys Snapdragon in real world usage, with the Epic being "snappier" in every way. It also has a 6-axis G-Sensor and a better QWERTY than either of the older Touch Pros.

Im assuming you have to pay $10 more on top of your data plan for this 4G just like Evo.
I wish Sprint could give me a Motorola Android phone.....3.5 to 3.7 inch display ..3G!!..so I wouldnt have to pay extra every month. Yea I'm cheap. Im with Sprint cause they have that great $69.99 basically everything plan, saves more than other carriers...so I dont wanna start paying like on those other carriers.

What really sucks is that the Samsung Epic does not have the Samsung Keypad keyboard like the other galaxy S phones which SUCKS! I wish it would have that option, ii think ii am going to go with the EVO i'm not sure though, I mean yeah the Epic is faster but ii am a HUGE texter. I'm tired of the STOCK android keyboard. Yes it does have swype but so does the EVO. Who cares about the screens, like yeah its more nice but, really? Eh, the screen doesnt matter much to me :P

First of all the evo can easily become DLNA certified thru an app or an update so having the actual HDMI is a win... Honestly the display of the evo is beautiful until you hold it against the epic, but who will walk around with two phones comparing... Why have a physical keyboard if you want a touch phone, the display of the evo is big enough so u wont make mistakes textin (i guess for roms a plus for the epic) sense beats touchwiz sorry... epic price is redic its not worth 50 more than the evo

I will take epic because of SUPER AMOLED. as far as i know, epic has HDMI output with usb connection. keyboard is attractive to me too.but evo is bigger thus surfing web makes easier. for heavy texters, EPIC IS THE BEST.my overall verdict is that Epic is better.

Awesome phone, but I like everything but the thickness. Amazing multimedia, battery life, screen and processor.
Why couldn't they make a keyboard version and a slim version! The phone is .56 inches thick! I'm still traumatized from the palm Centro thickness!

I just used the EPIC in radio shack, the rep had it. it has such a better screen, more vivid, uses less battery. The camera is not only a 5 MP though. All in all, still better than EVO

I understand the convenience of DLNA but on the downside, not ALL TVs currently have them, and most users who have a LCD/Plasma TV are not latest gen. and do not have the option of the widely growing technology. Plus, wireless transfer IMO will always be less quality than a wired transfer. But.. I mean, the EVO is just gorgeous, and samsung phones in my experience are faulty and are more hyped up than what they tend to be. Samsung instinct, for example. BIG let down.

@vduong27 Yup,still I don't trust the quality of products of taiwan brands. htc quality is still ok because it is not mass producing like Nokia or Samsung. Once they grow bigger,taiwan quality tends to suck more than Japan or Korea brands. this is my experience. it might not apply to everyone though.

Lol i remember when they were toting the EVO all over the place now the EPIC is supposed to be hot stuff? I'm thinking I'll stay with my EVO, more TV's/monitors support HDMI than DLNA. I love my kickstand, Touchwiz is a piece of trash iPhone rip off, I can go on all day lol. But I am glad Sprint's starting to get some big boys out, but HTC is definitely doing it up in the smartphone game.

EPIC reserves at sprint stores are all sold out now! I didn't expect EPIC to be that popular,given Motorola and htc popularity in android market.But I do feel that sooner,more players would join Android party. WE are going to see stiff competition,I guess Samsung would come out as winner given its size and agression and technological prowess.

I bought the EVO and ended up returning it. Sense is HORRIBLE. Not to mention as soon as I saw the performance of the hummingbird VS the snapdragon and the epics 10 times better GPU I pretty much threw the EVO through a Sprint stores window and went on the waiting list for the Epic.

Rofl, not the best move to show the person playing the game smashing into a wall at the very beginning. But anyway, I do like the physical keyboard, its always kind of nice, plus Swype as a second option, sweet. Also the AMOLED display is probably my fav part. That said, that whole wireless video thing is sweet but honestly what is the chance your tv has that, like nill. The option for hdmi out would be better. Plus, Samsung has also kind of caused me problems in the past, but thats just me

Once EPIC is out,I doubt people will care evo,unless they do not know how great SUPER AMOLED SCREEN IS,HOW FAST SAMSUNG's hummingbird processor is,How good GPU is for gaming,HOW RESPONSIVE EPIC Touchscreen is.
