  • Chris Harris is the best auto journalist ever.

  • Can barely hear anything

  • thanks Ill just take a meteor grey GT3

  • i can't stand you guys arguing about zr1, gt-r and gt3, and which will outperform which. they're all GREAT cars, but performance doesn't really matter. zr1 is about scaring the shit out of you with its billion hoursepower, gt-r is about sounding like a vacuum-cleaner while doing 2 lateral-G's and gt3 is about awesome racecar mechanical feel which is sooo rare in modern day cars. i personally prefer gt3, but it's a matter of taste, not pure performance.

  • i sounds like wonderbaum!!!!

  • this thing poos all over any Ferrari

  • the aircooled, the aircooled, yes this sounds very good. but ..not as good as an ......aircooled......and it never will

  • @PoggiiBonsii

That is utter ****! - Chris Harris

  • @speedycatz Respect for Chris Harris, he is the best. Let's put it this way, it sounds superior to any V8 (flat- plane or detroit) .

  • from 100 to 200 kph its faster than a turbo???? SERIOUSLY?? That would be amazingggggggg

  • "That is utter %$#! Because this car sounds wonderful!"

  • more of that noise please ....

  • my favorite car in production today

(my favorite car ever is the carrera gt :)

  • what's the song at the beginning??

  • Is DR really dead/ever coming back??

  • It's dead, Chris and Dickie have both moved on to evo, not sure what Jethro's doing these days

  • Chris is already doing videos for EVO. Check out my profile, I hotlink the videos from evo's own youtube profile.

  • @dan90x

    Thanks for the info.

  • @dan90x Jethro is with CAR magazine.

  • awesome car!! fantastic job porsche..great video too

  • One of the best Porsche ever made....

  • love the sound.

  • Great quote of the noise the GT3 makes: (1:15)i love when people when people say that they don't sound as the old air cooled cars, cause that's other ..beep.. this car sounds wonderfull

  • this car all the way

  • When are any sports cars sensible or logical choices financially ilikechocolatecake? There is such thing as value for money in this instance - smiles per mile. It's all subjective and what you get out of a car.

  • Like? I challenge you to find something cheaper which performs better and is more reliable. A GT-R will overheat after 1 lap of the Ring so that's out already.

  • @ahpadt True true God bless Porsche!!!

  • @ahpadt

The only one that springs to mind (my mind anyways) is the current BMW M3 and its greater brother the oncoming M3 GTS. The first being a car that offers a similar value/performance ratio than the GT3. The latter being an equally uncompromised racing car.

And let's not forget the M5 which resides in a similar price range as the GT3.

Btw: i am just bringing those up for the sake of argument and must say that I do love them Porsches :)

  • I live in Norway, and right now we r having temperatures towards 20 below zero (celsius),but u see just as many 997`s now(well, not JUST as many) as in summer. That`s the ULTIMATE test of reliability.Ferraris are tucked away in nice warm garages now,and they wouldn`t even turn over if u took one outside.

  • @ahpadt where did you hear such lies?

  • @ahpadt Ok to respond after 9 months? GT-R is the obvious answer of course - didn't even need to mention it and you were already wetting yourself over it. If all out speed is what you're after, why not take the reliability of a cheap(er) but old GT3, and tune it (e.g. SharkWerks). A near dedicated track/road car would also thrash this over the vast majority of race tracks. By the way, that's very petty to mark my comment as spam. Tsk tsk.

  • @ilikechocolatecake Haha, how did I know you were going to resort to the GTR and/or something second hand? I haven't driven this or the GTR, but while I love and respect them both, for feel and involvement, I'd say this has the GTR beaten, and for a proper driving enthuiast who drives on 'proper' roads and tracks, that means so much more than being the fastest. As for discussing tuning a second hand car as an option; that is irrelevant for reasons so obvious I'm not going to type them.

  • @ahpadt

The only cars that offer similar racecar value in my eyes would be a new boxster spyder or cayman R because although they're down on power, they cost 1/2 of a GT3, weigh 200lbs less, have better weight distribution, and they too can be fitted with PCCBrakes :D (oh and better gas mileage so no need to pay guzzler tax)

  • @ahpadt

Never heard of a GT-R overheating. Especially from the fact that is was repetitively tested on the Nurburgring before release..

Corvettes are other great deals over Porsches. You don't get the same refinement or quality, but if performance is all you seek, there probably isn't a better deal. Road and track wrote a recent article, Power of 12, comparing the Porsche Turbo, Z06, R8, and Vantage, showing that Z06 is dominant in terms of performance.

  • @c0nv1ct1337 and you dont get more American bias from a review than from road and track. they pick the zr1 over a 599 gt2 and gallardo so their opinion has to be taken with a grain of salt

  • @streetfire002

You seem to bias against American cars.

Why wouldn't you pick the ZR1 over those two cars when looking for pure performance? I see the GT2 maybe edging close if not above the ZR1 but rest of those cars aren't even competitive. The GT-R can outperform a Gallardo.

  • @c0nv1ct1337 its not all about performance or else the caterhams and atoms would be desired above pretty much anything. the amount of engineering and passion that goes into the development of porches Ferraris and Lamborghinis can be felt when you seee hear or sit in them. no american car has the same impact. i like american cars but i dislike the perception that a huge engine or a quick laptime makes the car.

  • @streetfire002

In car magazines, 90% of what determines the winner is its performance. Atoms and Caterhams aren't there because they don't compete with those vehicles. Making such a comparison is just silly

Also, not everyone has the same preference as you. Many people prefer American brute handling and power over engineering. I personally do and many other do as well. Remember T.G.UK ZR1 vs R8? J.C. himself said R8 is better made in almost every way than the ZR1 but he'd take the ZR1 tho.

  • @c0nv1ct1337 handling and american cars don't really go together in a sentence. unless you put a 'don't' in front of handling.

  • @sultanabran1

You're not even worth my time. Anyone who says that is not even a real car enthusiast but just plain about bias or still living in the 90s.

    Corvette ZR1 and Z06

    Dodge Viper ACR SRT10

Mustang GT (and Boss 302) (Botortrend compared M3 and 'stang GT and got almost identical laptimes)

    Cadillac CTS V

    Ford GT

    list goes on...

  • @c0nv1ct1337 Obviously I am worth your time. Worth enough for you to try and convince me that modern American cars aren't rubbish. Which you have failed by the way.

  • @c0nv1ct1337

In fairness, the European equivalents, while costing more "handle" better in terms of roadfeel. Granted, there's not a lot n them as far as laptimes, but no1 lives on a track.

  • @ahpadt I don't know if its more reliable, but a corvette Z06 creates similar levels of performance and is cheaper than a GT3. But its resale value isn't as good...

  • @ahpadt

Oh come on now - a GTR will overheat? Just because one GTR overheated doesnt mean anything mate. Id still rather a GT3 tho :D

  • Sounds good.....

  • 993 GT2 for me :)

  • "O, your kidding ....." that's so sick!!!!!

  • I really,REALLY think if The Stig isn`t Ben Collins,it`s Chris Harris!Or The Stig is both....

  • 997 GT3 is the best 911 quite possibly EVER! It is very nice to hear that it is actually faster than the 997 Turbo 911 from 100 - 200 mph.

BTW, the GT3 redline is at 8500 rpm. I am surprised he said 7500 rpm since I have seen him driving the old one up to 8400 rpm in the GT-R comparison.

  • ...From 100 to 200 KM/H, not mph.

    Greetings from Spain ;)

  • SpeedKlz:

It´s not faster 100-200 mph, he was saying 100-200 km/h.

  • it doesn't get any better than this... a lot of people I know love the Turbo over the GT3... please... I'll take a GT3 over a Turbo any day

  • I agree. The turbo has taken the role as "the posers choice" The GT3 is 4 ppl who know their cars.Turbos are 4 bankers who want the most bhp.......

  • Well then of course there is the OTHER Turbo.

  • sex, basically...

  • This car proves that Porsche make the best cars ever.Ignore 430 Scuds,GTR`s,or any other wanna bee specials,Porsche rules,END OF.There is no substitute

  • Chris made a good point about loaded up Carrera's costing even more than the GT3. No crazy alternating color stitching interior, carbon this-n-that or other what not for me, thanks Ill just take a guard red GT3

  • how the fuck do they get that sound from a flat six??

amazing. i hate porsches in general, but the GT3 is fucking epicc

  • mehh... when will i ever get to afford 1

  • Comment removed

  • i think the redline is 8500 rpm not 7500 rpm.

  • It is. I'm very sure that Chris is aware of that slight mistake aswell.

  • @ahpadt thats the difference between win and fail.

  • @cophahn 8000RPM

  • My my... This must be one of the best sounding Porsches ever. I'll start saving for one now ;)

  • Doesn't even come close to the mechanical interaction you get with the GT3. The GT-R sounds boring aswell.

  • I know, I know. They cared about nothing else but lap times when designing the GT-R but around most tracks it's on average only half a second quicker than 911 turbo or old GT3 RS.

Maybe this GT3 will eventually turn out to be quicker.

  • Forget your GTR or do you believe the faked lap times? But be careful with Nissan because you loose the warranty, when you go to track with the car.... a real sportscar....

  • ...plus the gearbox falls apart everytime you get near throttle

    watch?v=uRvYyzDHES0

  • There's nothing fake about laptimes, nissan lapped it quicker than the turbo and so did Bruno senna himself in 5th gear show. Even nissan did the lap again recently in front of porsche representitives to prove they couldn't drive. Warranty, same rubbish I hear, "when GPS knows that you are in a track, it will blow the gearbox into pieces."

BTW I do prefer the GT3 and ahpadt is right about mechanical ineraction, but I just can't stand people not getting some facts right, and appreciate a little

  • I don't trust any manufacters when it comes to their claims about Nurburgring lap times.

  • Ein Meisterwerk!
