No kidding. Imagine a run of songs: Magnificent,Discotheque, Untill the End of the World, Even Better than the Real Thing, Mofo, Get on your Boots, Vertigo, I'll Go Crazy(remix), Gone
I always heard so many bad things about the "Pop albums". I got to listen recently and I found them amazing. So fun to listen to them. THIS song is awesome!
I saw Pop in Boston. My first U2 show ruined by two jerks behind me that were so wasted they couldn't act like adults. The show was great, but I was not so impressed with the giant lemon.
I saw 2 shows of Pink Floyd's Division Bell tour there. Now Floyd was AWESOME! Greatest show I have ever seen. Even Elton John was a distant second place.
what are you guys complaining abouth? this song is awsome, what do you want? that they bring out the same album every year? the hole popmart album is awsome...
U2 changed their sound another time in POP, after did it in Achtung Baby/Zooropa... Someone like it (me too), more not, but always great. (and different)
Pop was actually a really good album. "Wow U2 are using techno and electronica with guitars and drums" U2 have been using keybroads on their records clearly since Unfortgetable Fire, Fairlight CMI anyone.
pop is easily the most undderated and unfairly chastised album of the 90s. this when they were actually looking forward, rather than backwards as they are now.
I like POP because it very different and humourous! Although my all time fave U2 albums are How To Dismantle An Atom Bomb and Rattle & Hum. It reminds me of the rave movement in Manila when I was in college.
No, Even the band admit Pop nearly cost them their career. Their best songs are the powerful ones. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own is simply the greatest song ever written. This was an experiment that probably wasnt needed.
I couldn't disagree more. U2 were at their peak when they experimented and weren't afraid to make the music they wanted to make. Pop is an amazing album and you need only listen to the radio today to hear how many bands have been influenced by it.
I have read articles where it says The Edge almost walked out of the recording sessions and Larry was totally against the whole concept of the album. He even protested on the video for Discotheque, where he didnt join in as much on the dance sequence at the end.
I found two songs on that album that I liked and was disappointed with what I heard.
U2, the best ALWAYS

Ha! this remix is by Matt Thomas (King Unique), my brother leon, and myself. From 1997
U2 were very into it, and even sent us a crate of guinness and a bottle of Bolly for it, as well as a the £8k fee. Happy days :)

Then don't watch it. See, isn't that simple?
I, for one, like it. The "Pop" album is the only post-Joshua Tree album I really like, and PopMart was a heckuva show.

Yep POP rocks. This was the band at its best, as opposed to their own whiney fan base that wants them to be stuck in the 80's forever. Screw that!

That was the point of Pop. Well done. It was well executed, though, definately not shít. It's ironic.
