I had this procedure and the day after was almost back to normal, phisically that is, started running and swimming with 7 days, anb biking after about 2 weeks.FANTASTIC!!!!
a prostate is a small thing that is locations near the bladder. its connected to the penis and the testees. that when we release, well, lets just say "our children".
The prostate gland produces some of the semen that is released with the sperm during ejaculation. It's just below the urinary bladder and it surrounds the urethra. Many men as they get older can have prostate problems. Sometimes it can be swollen and restrict the flow of urine. There is also a possibility of prostate cancer.
Awesome video. Makes me glad I invested in Intuitive Surgical! And is that the music you actually listen to while you work? Sounds like the music I like to listen to while I paint or draw.
I feel queazy, but much less worried about facing the removal of my prostate. I got my diagnosis 2 days ago. Thanks for this graphic, well-produced video.
The nerves that are responsible for erections can be spared, many would argue more easily, with the robot-assistance. Overall erectile function preservation occurs in approximately 50-80% of men, but it largely depends on the quality of erections preoperatively and the extent of the cancer (this determines whether both nerves can safely be spared).
great video, i had this surgery done to me, and was glad to see what was done. Prostate cancer is not caused by smoking, but eating red meat, and lots of sugar intake, and Afro American decendants are factors to increase the chances of having this desease
my father also went in this morning. I got the news that everything went well. Very interesting how medical technology has improved throughout the years. Great video!
My father had this surgery today and thank god everything went great. even though it took longer than expected (6 to 8 hours) because of his overweight and bad lungs, but like i said everything went well. good luck to anyone that is going through this.
that must of lots of money to do that kind of robotic surgery cuz its not open its in inside surgery and its very amazing machine matrix electronics wow im impresed
considering most people the age of this man cant use a modern day console controller this guy done very well i'd be baffeled if i had that machine infront of me...
Great video. Very well executed. For those of you looking for more information on the prostate we have a series called "Mark and Julie", that is a real patient experience about a man with prostate cancer delivered in episodic form. Hope it answers any lingering questions!
I personally underwent this surgery 3 weeks ago. I was walking up and down the hallways of the hospital the next morning with little pain and went home that afternoon. The catheter was removed in 7 days and I'm working on urinary control which is always affected. I hope the nerve sparing worked!
Very carefully. The neurovascular bundle lies just outside the prostate capsule, so if the cancer seems to be confined to within the capsule of the prostate the nerves can be gently peeled off and left behind.
This video is graphic and includes scenes of real surgery. It is not for everyone, but it's an overview of the latest in operative technology and the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery. (This is an earlier version)
