  • I had this procedure and the day after was almost back to normal, phisically that is, started running and swimming with 7 days, anb biking after about 2 weeks.FANTASTIC!!!!

  • it always impressed me how a doctor know how and where exactly to cut - this is rly cool

  • I have been operated with help of this fantastic equipment just 12 days ago. Now I am back to my normal life!. Isn't it amazing?!

  • so amazing the docs deserve all compliment ;)

  • Amazing video. My dad has been surgically operated with laparoscopy in 2002 for a prostate K. Now he's fine, thanks to the Lord

  • WOW......

  • 3:05 are they smoking? other then that, amazing vid!

  • yes, they are smoking, that's a Bovie, it's electro-cauterization used to stop bleeding and even to cut through fascia

  • insatiableblonde is correct, it is a bovie cauterizer. Why woul they be smoking inside the body??

  • errm guys i know this is a stupid Q but whats a prostate?

  • a prostate is a small thing that is locations near the bladder. its connected to the penis and the testees. that when we release, well, lets just say "our children".

  • The prostate gland produces some of the semen that is released with the sperm during ejaculation. It's just below the urinary bladder and it surrounds the urethra. Many men as they get older can have prostate problems. Sometimes it can be swollen and restrict the flow of urine. There is also a possibility of prostate cancer.

  • zero 7!!! when it falls amen

  • Awesome video. Makes me glad I invested in Intuitive Surgical! And is that the music you actually listen to while you work? Sounds like the music I like to listen to while I paint or draw.

  • I,m glad I saw this AFTER surgery. Fantastic operation, no pain, up and walking in less than one day.

  • this makes me wanna be a doctor

  • Wow! The dexterity of those robot 'hands' is just amazing.

I had no idea that this sort of procedure had become so routine.

    Very impressive.

  • dis is amazin...

  • Very interesting video.

  • bravo!

  • I feel queazy, but much less worried about facing the removal of my prostate. I got my diagnosis 2 days ago. Thanks for this graphic, well-produced video.

  • damn...

  • Amazing!!

  • wow!!! senza parole!!

  • Wow amazing

  • just incredible

  • wow great

  • very good and im sooo amaze watching the video... ur great!

  • GROUND BREAKING STUFF

  • Wow. AMAZING!

  • amazing technology these days i cant wait to see what its going to be like in 20 years.

  • totally amazing!!!!!

  • can a man still get an erection after this type of surgery?

  • The nerves that are responsible for erections can be spared, many would argue more easily, with the robot-assistance. Overall erectile function preservation occurs in approximately 50-80% of men, but it largely depends on the quality of erections preoperatively and the extent of the cancer (this determines whether both nerves can safely be spared).

  • coooooooooooooool :D...i hope there's one for video games XD! lOL peaCe 4/5(*)

  • great video, i had this surgery done to me, and was glad to see what was done. Prostate cancer is not caused by smoking, but eating red meat, and lots of sugar intake, and Afro American decendants are factors to increase the chances of having this desease

  • my father also went in this morning. I got the news that everything went well. Very interesting how medical technology has improved throughout the years. Great video!

  • if an old man age is 89 and he have a prostate,it is ok for surgery or no?just asking ...thanks

  • incrivell

  • My father had this surgery today and thank god everything went great. even though it took longer than expected (6 to 8 hours) because of his overweight and bad lungs, but like i said everything went well. good luck to anyone that is going through this.

  • I Love The Technology!

  • Wow that is amazing.. five stars

  • Now I see why prostate surgery costs so much.

  • that is insane.......if i ever need my prostate out i hope my hospital has one of these

  • inchiniamoci alla scienza

  • ekk, i dont wanna no what will happen in the future of my life but its amazing what u guys cab do! save a life, save some tears

  • that must of lots of money to do that kind of robotic surgery cuz its not open its in inside surgery and its very amazing machine matrix electronics wow im impresed

  • considering most people the age of this man cant use a modern day console controller this guy done very well i'd be baffeled if i had that machine infront of me...

    amazing how it works to.

  • Very impressive

  • That was brilliant,

amazing what the medical field can do these

    days.

  • love the song???artist song

  • The Music is When it Falls & Red Dust, both by Zero 7.

  • music?

  • thankz great video!

  • OMG!

  • Lol, this reminds me of House M.D., even the music. :)

  • house md is the best show ive watched so far, and im still watching it :D

  • That was cool, im not sure i would like to watch the vid of me having that done, if i had to have it done. but hey, good technology.

  • STOP SMOKING

  • All I can say is WOW.

  • is this called "the davinci machine"? also I love the bag shake to get it to drop down.. lol.

  • Excellent!...

  • Thanks for posting this video!

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • Really great job! Congratulation!

Sorry, that I´m a GP and not a surgeon... :( It´s too late...

  • Great video. Very well executed. For those of you looking for more information on the prostate we have a series called "Mark and Julie", that is a real patient experience about a man with prostate cancer delivered in episodic form. Hope it answers any lingering questions!

  • to Typewritermans - Good luck with your recovery

  • To Technology.... there is not limits.

  • I personally underwent this surgery 3 weeks ago. I was walking up and down the hallways of the hospital the next morning with little pain and went home that afternoon. The catheter was removed in 7 days and I'm working on urinary control which is always affected. I hope the nerve sparing worked!

  • Absolutely riviting! Wow! (It put a litle hit on my appetite, though).

  • Very carefully. The neurovascular bundle lies just outside the prostate capsule, so if the cancer seems to be confined to within the capsule of the prostate the nerves can be gently peeled off and left behind.

  • How can you spare the erectile nerves w/ a robot?

  • This video is graphic and includes scenes of real surgery. It is not for everyone, but it's an overview of the latest in operative technology and the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery. (This is an earlier version)

  • Great job. Best video out there.
