The last thing we need is more criminals having it easy in prision. 3 meals a day, clothed, bathed, given free medical treatment, and all at the expense of us taxpayers. I own a security camera business,and most people wait till they are robbed before they call me.Dont wait till ur house and ur family are violated before u put in security measures. Invest in a shotgun and or a camera system.When I am called robbers usually have struck. They mostly take guns, jewelery, small electronics like cameras, and tools. Stuff the can carry and easily hide on their person. The family is usually always pissed, and they dont feel comfortable in their home anymore.

No offense but it isn't the same effect if the intruder is high on meth, crack, pcp, etc. I'm sure you've heard all the horror stories of criminals  not going down despite several live rounds center mass. Why take a chance with bean bags, rock salt, etc. Life is too short and if the criminal illegally enters a persons home, he should be shot dead. Some situations call for less force, if any at all, but when it's in your home, ensure the safety of your family and put the criminal down.

have pity on me i live in MA god forbid i protect myself from a criminal the DA's office will arrest me any way for murder then i got to spend tens of thousands of dollars on legal fees all because i fired in self defense but i live in a Communist state and they hate it when we do the DA's work for them (getting rid of criminals off the street)!! funny thing is im saving my state millions of dollars in food and materials they wont have to spend on a criminals incarceration.

@gunforme using beanbags would be much safer for your family then using 1 oz slugs that can rip through half your house... chances are if a druggy is busting in your house, its to get his next fix... so he'll be all weak and strung out. lol. shotguns are freakin cool.

@lexmark136 Are you serious? True slugs are overkill, especially in suburban areas. But why use bean bags? Let's say the guy isn't a meth head and you do subdue him and the cops arrest his ass. Once he gets outta jail, he knows where you live and knows that he should come armed next time, and HE WILL come back. Thats why when someone breaks in, you put some good ol fashion 00 buckshot into em. I'd rather mop up the thug's blood than know he's still alive and knows where me and my family live!

@lexmark136. Forget about buying regular hollow points. Look into Hornady's Critical Defense ammo. No I'm not a Hornady employee or anything, I've just been doing a ton of research (plus I work part time at a gun range), and Hornady is by far the #1 self defense bullet there is. It's reliable, accurate, and has nickel plated shells instead of cheap steel or low grade brass. I've shot about 200 rounds, not 1 misfire/misfeed. It ain't cheap, but my family is worth having the best ammo.

@frodo70444 That sounds good in theory, but the problem is I don't think my wife would like seeing a blood stained floor everyday. What me and some of my neighbors have done to help prevent criminals from even thinking about breaking in is get a ton of empty shotgun shells and dropping them all over the front and back yards. You see empty shotgun shells all over the place, you think: "This guy got a gun, fuck it, I ain't getting shot". And if that don't work, Mr Remington is there to greet them.
