Western people are so weak and stupid. They always complain about the WEATHER:) they dont know that in europien part of Russia it is not cold at all. Only Siberia is very cold but westerns have never been there. Why then russians don't die in russian winter?

One thing people dont realise is that armies of that period didnt fight in winter usually.

Hence the phrase take up winter quarters.

They had no tents or sheter and slept in the open.

With continual temperatures of minus -30c or so people literally froze to death as they slept or walked.

Another thing was that the villages were very far apart and there was no forage. or food.

There were reports of cannibalism

@massivesovietunion yes exact, but don't forget that russian army lost 75% of his men during this campaign, this was often forget. napoleon shouldn't march too deeper into russia, and moscow was not the capital. Russia is too larger to be invade by foot he had to destroy russian army in center of europa not in russia.
