  • OH COME ON!

You are taking a single comment out of an argument that Jesus is having with some Pharisees. He is quoting the OT to show the Pharisees who claim to believe in the OT that they are bending their own law. He is not making a statement or giving a commandment. You are taking something totally out of context. Jesus uses the OT for that generation that were bound by it. We are NOT BOUND by the OT. You will have to do better than that. Back to the Red Letters Only.

    Peace,

    Gene

  • You make a good argument but you state it as fact. You leave no room for those who believe that there is more “ianity” than Christ in your teachings. You want to take those parts of the OT that you like but not the full thing. You want to make the opinions of men equal to the simple words of Jesus. Paul said things that applied to his time not mine. I am a “Red Letter Christian” and feel that it is the only way to cut out the years of bad human logic.

  • A good christian doesnt ask questions about their god. A good atheist asks all the questions about their environment.

  • ABSOULTLY RIGHT!

  • The God of the OT says unequivocally that homosexuals must be murdered (Lev. 21:13). That is God's unchanging, unvarying, eternal LAW. So carry it out you mush-mouthed pricks, and stop making excuses!

  • @RealityCheckHero Thanks for making that comment.

  • Ok then I can go out and burn witches and kill my children for disobeying me.

I should stone my daughter for attending a yoga class.

If you want the Old Testament then live it all!

  • @GSOlsen123 Jesus' own words: Matthew 15:4

  • if christians would really go back to the old testament, they would all realize they're worshipping a lawless sacrifice. not that the lord was lawless. but that their understanding of how he fulfilled the remission is lawless. heb 10 states those sacrificial laws were a shadow of christ, yet they ignore the descendant of aaron john. most people who are 'christian' are ignorant of the bible in general, then you have the few top people who brainwash all of the unlearned

  • The New testament was constructed in the year 1611, until then, only the interpretation of a so called minister was what the people heard as gospel nothing more. That was on Sunday, on Monday that same entity collected the taxes of the time.

  • Pure truth! Everything I would have said.

  • this just goes to show that there are no true christians. i have yet to meet a single christian that follows the old testament. ive barley met any that follow the new. but ive heard thousands of excuses as to why they dont. until you guys start stoning your kids and stop eating shell fish your all a bunch of fakes.

  • @AstronomyGuru1 Thats because the bible was written by a bunch of old jews in order to keep the people in line and under control. If you notice the first half of the bible is all about jews and how they are number one. God smites everyone else and favors the jews. A book written for jews by jews. It only changes in the new testiment when the romans latch on and begin writing it. Most of the new new testament is Paul.

  • @AstronomyGuru1

You would do well to find out what exactly Christians hold so dear to their moral standards. For if Christians fail to understand the difference between New Testament & Old Testament sense- 1. The covenant( agreement between Man & God) 2. The scriptures demarcating the old & new 3. In what senses The Old is no longer binding on the Christian & what sense The Old is fulfilled & what sense The OLD is dying & obsolete & THE OLD leads to the New; and many more senses to be proclaim

  • I have deep respect for the Laws of the Torah, but they are only for Israel.

But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

    Ephesians Chapter 2.15

through his flesh, abolishing the law with its commandments and legal claims, that he might create in himself one new person ...

  • Jesus live by the old testament, Jesus depend the rules and full filled the prophesy.

In my book, I think of the new test is not new but only the end to the old. You need both to stand up right.

  • love this video! Praise YAH!!!!!! the world needs to see and hear more like this! the truth is so hidden by the false teachings of the RCC and other so called churches! who do not know the truth! Keep up the great work! hope to see more great videos like this soon! be Blessed!

  • @wolf2728 the fact of so many churches proves your religion false!

  • Well said. All understand that The New covenant was sealed at the moment of Jesus' Death on the cross on friday and nothing can be added or taken away to that convenant, even one second after his death. But Sunday keeping began to honor of the resurrection of Jesus 3 days afterwards on Sunday. Therefore Sunday keeping has been added to the sealed new covenent. But wait NOTHING can be added to the New covenent. Sunday keeping is the work of MAN.

  • 1+1+1 = 3.

  • Very good message but people will twist this by redefining what6 Law Messiah was speaking of. SDA say it is only the 10commandments, not the totah. But this is nonesense because the 10 commandments are in the Torah!

  • God loves science, and hates organized religion.

  • ab0ad,

So the "Old Testament (Covenant)" was all about physical death? Even if you are referring to the Torah given at Sinai, even it has very little to do with stoning or the death penalty. The Majority of the penalties in the "OT" did not demand a physical death sentence! Do you know what the original covenant was that Adam was so privileged to walk in? Was it REALLY the covenant of "WRATH"?

  • Jesus stated that he came not to destroy the law of the old testament but to fulfill it. So, in his words, the old law was not destroyed. Obvsiously Jesus stated that we still had to abide by the old testament commandments (10 commandments). If you love me, keep my commandments. This is found in the new testament, but the commandments are found in the old testament.

  • JESUS fulfilled the law of the Old Testament which stated that if a person were to SIN they were to be STONED to death Jesus took that Death upon Himself this was " The WRATH of God " The only reason He came was to DIE your death that you may have ETERNAL life! I agree we MUST know the Old testament and BELIEVE This video was right on the spot . thanks

  • A huge part of Jesus's coming was to free us from the heavy burden of the law. It is too heavy for us and impossible for us to live by the law. So, our wonderful Jesus Christ fulfilled the law and removed it's incredible weight from our shoulders.

He asks us to believe and trust in him, so that we can be free from the law. Glory be to God in the highest.

  • Of course the OT is the word of God but the NT expands and fulfills the OT.

Matthew 19:7,8 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

  • I don't follow. Please elaborate.

  • I'm asking a retorical question about why the church has accepted feminism proposed by the communist manefesto writers. I wonder if it is because patriarchy is an old testament teaching?

  • Christ IS the Husband of the church, Does He not "bear the iniquity" of those who "make it known to Him"... "The day He hears it"? Plain and simple, He is the Rock, the Husband, the redeemer... ect . Numbers 30 continues to show God's love for us through Jesus. Stay married to Christ and don't become a "widow" because of "spiritual" sexual immorality. It's just a beautiful law, a law of grace through Jesus Christ.

  • Church truth does not lie concealed in the OT, its not there!

Only the Abrahamic Covenant (promise of Messiah & some Gentiles coming to salvation) is concealed in the Old Testament, nothing else.

  • Quote: Only the Abrahamic Covenant (promise of Messiah & some Gentiles coming to salvation) is concealed in the Old Testament, nothing else.-------------> That's what I meant. Read Numbers 30 concerning the "Young woman" "Married woman" Divorced woman" ect... The woman is the folks who "seek God" or in the new cov. the "Church" It all ends with the "husband" (Christ) bearing "her" iniquity! Exciting!

  • I'm sorry, but I believe this to be a false typology. This is talking about oaths to the Lord. You take its meaning too far.

You are correct though, in that you understand the reality & power of the prophecy of the Old & New Testaments; as well as the extensive typology that often exists.

Correct exegesis is often more difficult and I don't think that it comes or remains easy with any of us.

This is the kind of Puritan/Covenantal style of interpretation that I fear with the dual Cov. system.

  • There is no such thing as a Christian which only accepts the New-Testament; but Christians are, by definition, New-Testament (i.e., the Church is a New Testament-Only concept).

  • The Old testament is jam packed with these kind of "treasures".

  • We do not need consensus...God help us if consensus becomes the judge!

I would have to say, from a Biblical perspective, that I believe Conventalism to be wrong and Pauline Dispensationalsim to be correct.

  • I don't understand then. Then are the following rules that should still be followed:

    Matthew 22:27

    Matthew 5:19

    Matthew 18:7-9

    Deuteronomy 3:3-7, 13:6-10, 13:12-15, 17:5, 20:13-14, 21

    Exodus 22:29, 29:36-39,31:14-14

  • It means that there is no such thing as a Christian that claims the New Testament only but denies the old. There were heretics in the first few centuries that tried to do that because they thought the God of the old testament was wrath and the new was love (as though there were two gods...)

  • Interesting how they tried that when the Son of God was a Jew who came to Israel and declared to them the name of the O.T. God & fufulled His Law & Prophets!!

  • @LaneCh (to your comment to amberview30)

    There are two gods.

There are even more than that. (in the Bible I mean)

With different authors and different ages it was inevitable

that the idea of the "one god" was to be adapted to personal ideas and that the "one god" changed by the spirit of time.

  • @LaneCh @LaneCh Marcion, and Origien are to name a Couple Marcion was the first to bring "new testament christian" to the table. He hated the Jews, and the God of the old testament. Eventually he was labeled a heretic and excommunicated for life from the church. His Ideals still linger.

  • @LaneCh Gnosticism!

  • The bible...It's definitely a beautiful blend of God's word. Old Testament and New Testament. Old Test is not an "equal" to old covenant, within the Old Testament is the New covenant. Within the "old law" is the new law! Very exciting!

  • The guy at time stamp 6:55 seems to be "dead on"! Who is that brother???

  • His name is Randall Terry.

  • Law still applies! Jesus even said it. The law is LOVE. Even the old testament law. embedded in it is the love for your neighbor and enemy as well. Bottom line is this... follow the testimony of Jesus Christ and obey the commandments of God. SEE REV 12:17 and 14:12. If you read this... it totally answers this debate. God bless!

  • The law has a ministry of condemnation and instruction of the righteousness standard of God. It is invaluable for conviction and the work of God. It must be kept, of course. The law itself; though, doesn't supply ability to keep itself, neither does man have this ability. The law is powerless then, through the flesh, to provide either salvation or sanctification. Its rightful ministry is condemnation. The power for salvation and sanctification is the power of the Spirit of God by grace.

  • I do agree! It's the fight to keep the law that we must not slack. That is where the "Lamb" of God becomes our redeemer. If it were all law we would all die by it. Amen brother!

  • If it was any law (as a means of righteousness before God) we would all die by it!

And then Christians are called to be holy based on the indwelling Holy Spirit and their election, among other things.

  • The statements in this video are partially true. Of course it is necessary to take the whole of the Scripture - which means both testaments - but the video tries to assert that Christianity is just a way for Gentiles to be Jews. Nothing could be further from the truth! The church started at Pentecost. The NT is not only "the old revealed" but it is also things which the old never comprehended! The problem with this video is that; while these men are technically correct, they are wrong!

  • Hey, I was worried about your comment so I watched the video again, but I didn't see where anyone implied that we're supposed to be Jews now. I may have missed it, though. Will you provide the timestamp to where you thought this may have been implied? I'd like to look at it closer.

  • About 4:11-4:30. They weren't teaching Judaism, but Messianic/Covenant theology. The man pretty much said that now Gentiles can become Jews - without becoming Jews in a technical sense. This is partially true, in that salvation is now open to Gentiles, but there is more going on than that in the plan of God for this dispensation.

  • Yeah, I see it now. I don't agree with him in the national sense, but I do in the sense where Paul wrote: "For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God." (Rom 2:28-29) If he's speaking in this sense, I agree; not in the other, though.

  • I'm not sure if you're familiar with him, but this is Steve Schlissel. He's had some controversy around him for sometime now with it being said that he's part of this Auburn Ave. Theology. I don't agree with the Auburn Ave. so I may need to investigate this further to make sure he's in accordance to what Paul says and not meaning the other.

  • This is a great video! What's with all the views and no comments? Praise the Lord Jesus!
