  • Cue balls rule!!~!!!!

  • LMAO at someone comparing anything eminem does to people who actually have talent. Talking in rhymes to a computerized beat isnt talent and it isnt music. Oh and his name is Marshall, I refuse to refer a grown man who dyes his hair as eminem. The douche was right about one thing though, the oscars arent his crowd. His crowd is white 16 year old kids from the suburbs.

  • shit. now which film has passed to history? five easy pieces of course

  • George C. Scott in the Changelling: magnific.

  • Goldie Hawn is the cutest thing ever in this clip! She got to announce this classic moment where George C Scott gave the f you to the Academy. I have to say, the fact that Ryan O'Neal was nominated for his horrible acting in Love Story is a joke. Pure popularity choice just because Love Story was a big hit.

  • Jane Alexander looked very beautiful at 1:26.

  • Jack wants to have sex with Goldie because of her seductive voice and looks

  • George C. Scott did amazing job in Patton.

  • James Earl Jones should have won!

  • @captainjjb84 ...not

  • I wouldn't go to that meat show either.

  • this was george c scott's big middle finger to academy!

  • 1:25 the only man who knew the real Patton personally none other than 5 star General Omar Bradley. blessings to his great memory

as a high school history teacher i can tell you the movie patton is still going strong and mystudents loved it and after studied patton on their own.

thank you for sharing this my friend

  • Oh shit dude...Clemenza is in the audience (1:27)....he must've made George C. Scott an offer he couldn't refuse.

  • @Caulfield789-That's hilarious, even though (as I'm sure you know) Luca Brasi is the one who helped Don Vito with the irrefusable offer :)

  • Worth it just for Goldie Hawn.

  • However, regarding this second rejection of the Academy Award, Scott famously said elsewhere, "The whole thing is a goddamn meat parade. I don't want any part of it."

  • Jack sporting the Hitler 'stash then and still looks badass

  • where was james earl jones???

  • we want nicholsooon in fiiiiiveeee easyyyyyyy pieceeeees goldieeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Not even going to lie, I thought Jack Nicholson deserved the award more than George Scott. Not to say Scott wasn't incredible in Patton, just that Nicholson was out of this world good.

  • @soccerprog226 NIcholson is good but George C. Scott was simply THE BEST!

  • Goldie hawn is hottt

  • where was george???????

  • Kate Hudson is prettier than her mom Goldie Hawn was.

  • 0:26, WTF was that tongue? LoL

anyway, George is a fucking genius, both them, patton and scott

  • "oh my god THE WINNER IS GEORGE C. SCOTT"

    hahahahahaa!!

  • Scott, Jones, O'Neal, Nicholson all in Kubrick movies at some point.

  • Jack Nicholson's got the system down--he doesn't give a damn about ANYTHING. ;])

  • Anyone else notice Omar Bradley in the audience?

  • paulie was there!

leave the oscar, take the canoli!

  • Patton winning this award was a huge FUCK YOU to the counter culture dickheads in the crowd.

  • @freeOJ2007 Oh, yeah, that just turned the tide completely :/

  • @freeOJ2007 What dickheads? Jack Nicholson? Huh? Keep in mind 'Patton' was marketed as an anti-establishment film and was written by Franics Ford Coppola, who would be considered part of the counter culture.

  • specially the one who announced the winner...

  • Pithy but incorrect. Scott was left of center. In fact, he supported McCarthey in 1968, and McGovern in 1972 against Nixon. Scott did not like the "meat market" element to the award show. This is why he refused the Oscar.

  • @freeOJ2007 counter culture forever!

  • @wichrau He thought the Oscars was a shame and the film's producer gave it back to the academy to go along with Scot's wishes.

  • I still love Goldie Hawn, what an ass!

  • 6 people need to be held by the nose, and then kicked in the ass

  • @rosellathehedgehog18: I loved your comment… :)

  • @rosellathehedgehog18

These comments are so petty. Why are you so concerned about what other people like or dislike?

  • The reason he claimed for missing the ceremony where he won the Oscar was that he was busy watching a hockey game.

  • @getclutch72 BEAUTIFUL!!!!! went to a hockey game instead...i may have a new favorite actor...or at least he is tied with ian mckellen, its tough to beat gandalf

  • Jack Nicholson at the Oscars without the sunglasses? WOW! That's rare!

  • Isn't the producer who accepted the award the same guy in Little House on The Prairie? Nellie's dad?

  • Anna Farris on the cover of the house bunny looks MUCH like Goldie.

  • Goldie Hawn is a cutey. She does looked spaced out but thats what we always liked about her. Google " the house bunny " poster and Anna Farris is Goldie Hawns long lost daughter,

  • Goldie Hawn was so spaced out it is lucky George C. Scott was not there. Scott would called Goldie a nitwit as would have if living the real Gen. Geo. S. Patton, Jr.

  • First of all, Goldie Hawn is so cute in this video. I'm wondering who was the actor who refused his Oscar nomination? His reason: Nominated so many times, he wanted other actors to have a chance.

  • @eugene680 oh god. please dont encourage that sort of behaviour in women.. i hate when women act overly cute, it makes me curl my lip up like a dog out of pure aggravation. it is nauseating. goldie hawn was annoying the shit out of me in this clip.

  • Funny how people say Kate Hudson looks so much like her mom - I don´t think she looks anything like young Goldie Hown - may be the eyes are so different - Goldie has this huge round eyes while Kate has squinty.

  • omg Jack was soooooo young haha

  • he played as Genaral George S. Patton

  • God Goldie Hawn is a BABE!!!!!!!!

  • Goldie is so cute.

  • Didn't he refused the Oscar he won for Patton?

  • @BahHumbug1843

Which would be why he didn't show up.

  • Note General of the Army Omar Bradley at 1:24. Imagine the reception had he gone up and accepted the award instead!

  • @ijnfleetadmiral Good call...But, I read A Soldier's Story (Bradley), and Farago's Bio of Patton claims quite a few of Brad's claims were actually Patton's ideas!!

  • Oh my god. This is the first public appearance of his I have seen where Jack Nicholson wasn't wearing shades!

  • LOL, i agree with @cedward1984.

  • Eminem did the same thing when "Lose Yourself" was up for Best Song in a movie for Oscar and Eminem (Correctly) said, "That's not my audience that I'm targeting so I'm not going to the Oscars"

It's how George C. Scott feels too. He targets a certain audience with his movies and doesn't care about some political "Academy" for approval.

George's fans are all he cares about.

  • @GuardianAngel5150 naw eminem blows asshole, doesn't have respect for other people.

  • HOOAH!

  • Marlon Brando watching this on TV: "Oh, snap--we can actually *refuse* Oscas?!"

  • That is the real Gen. Bradley at 1:24.

  • Goldie Hawn looks so much like Kate Hudson here.

  • i'm 23. if i had a time machine i'd go back to 1971 and bang Goldie Hawn's brains out

  • lol i am actually from lexington, virginia which is where that very oscar is on display at the virginia military institute campus. im glad he didnt accept his oscar because i believe his oscar is the most easily viewable oscar in the world lol. just pay 10 dollars to tour the museum on campus and voila! there it is nice and golden and in perfect condition.

  • Ryan O'Neal? LOL.

  • George C Scott True Actor General Patton American Hero

  • goldie hawn kinda look like eve lawrence in this video

  • give them hell george

  • Wow, the Academy Awards are such a joke/spectacle now. If they were still like this, I might still watch them.

  • Jack with no shades?!

  • goldie hawn delicious

  • Horray for George C. Scott. A real American.

  • Great actors are eccentric. I think that was Clemenza in the shot?

  • George C. Scott delievered one of the finest performances in history, if not the greatest.

  • he called it a "Goddamn meat parade".

He was born to play patton, man.

  • George C Scott doesn't need any bald naked dude.

  • james earl jones '' the great white hope'' ??? isnt he like... black?

  • I KNEW IT!!!

That movie was the best ever! I reccomend it highly to!

  • Ryan O'Neal got nominated for Love Story? Oh my God!!!

  • ACTING ISNT A BALLGAME

  • Goldie Hawn looks so cute

  • That's what I thought so too, she looks like a prom queen.

  • George C. Scott didn't buy into the hype show. Thought it degraded the craft, since it's simply a marketing tool for the film industry.

Wish there were more actors with his gumption.

  • so he didn't accept because he didn't believe in competition or he thought everyone else was better than him?

  • why is richard castellano there?

  • @griffin324

Castelllano was nominated for LOVERS AND OTHER STRANGERS. He was great in that! That's how he got THE GODFATHER.

PS Look how beautiful Jennifer Jones looks over his right shoulder.

  • way to stick it to the man!!

  • Comment removed

  • this year was certainly one of the LOWEST points in the history of the academy awards since except for John Mills (who reportedly almost didn't say anything on his acceptance speech) NEITHER the actors winners in the other 3 categories NOR the director winner were there to accept their Oscars and that makes this ceremony of 1971 the one with more absent winners in history!

I will remember this rather as "the someone else accepts on my behalf cause I don't give a shit about my Oscar" ceremony

  • Look at Richard Castellano buggin' out...

  • Patton would have been up there getting that award in a second.

  • The man at 1:24 looks like five star general Omar Bradley who was portrayed by Karl Malden in the movie.

  • Good eye! That was, in fact, Omar Bradley!

  • The man at 1:24 looks like five star general Omar Bradley who was portrayed by Karl Malden in the movie.

  • If I'm not mistaken, the man shown in the audience at 1:24 is 5 star General Omar Bradley who was portrayed by Karl Malden in the movie. Bradley died in 1981.

  • Considering that General Bradley was a consultant on the film it is more than likely him.

  • George thought the academy was a joke, and they are. I can't believe they selected him knowing he wouldn't even show up. Patton is possibly yhe best movie ever.

  • Who really wants to watch a bunch of rich people get an award for making a movie which made them even more rich? But Patton is definitely in the top 5 movies of all time.

  • Goldie looked so cute back then! and now she is still attractive!

  • i like how he declined it

  • Goldie Hawn was looking fine back then.

  • Goldie and Kate look so much alike here but in the present, they hardly look alike imo...

  • @Ashibot I disagree - Kate looks nothing like Goldie - If you see Kate´s father this hudson guy you will see she looks just like him - its Kate make- up and her lame attempt to be like her mother which makes some people think they are so much alike

  • isnt kurt russel her father?

  • George C. Scott always referred to the Oscars as a "meat parade." Hard to argue.

  • He didn't show up --- HAH I LOVE GEORGE C SCOTT

  • @kronos251- Of course he didn't show up! Scott considered all these big movie awards ceremonies to be a "Goddamn meat parade" and declared he wanted no part of it. I don't think Patton, had he been an actor, would have said any different.

  • @kronos251 He wasn't there, what a certified BadAss!!!

  • @kronos251 ME TOO JOHN WAYNE SHOULD OF DONE THAT TOO

  • @bobszvetics1 HUH? John Wayne looks nothing like General Patton..Scott did look similar to Patton..U all crazy.

  • A great line-up of brilliant actors, with the exception of Ryan O'Neal.

  • "OMI God, It's George C. Scott!!"

    I love Goldie!

  • lol. nicholson looked baked.

  • He still is

  • Goldie well prior to having any work done.

    She was cute!

  • Very well deserved!

  • George C. Scott was never full of it. Most actors get up there and say, "There is no such thing as Best Actor, we're all Best Actors," yeah, easy for you to say up on the podium with an Oscar in your hand. Scott genuinely disapproved of the competition and therefore didn't turn up. A man of his word.

  • Yeah but he did show up to the Oscars sometime in the 80's when his career was pretty much over.

kind of strange or maybe he was looking to hobnob with the in people and find some work. At least he didnt send some Indian woman to do his dirty work in 1971!

  • Exactly. I totally agree, he was a VERY good man. my dad told me that Scott had said later, "who are they to say that I'm the best actor? For all we know, the best performance could have been in some kids' play!" lol awesome.

  • I agree as well. George C. Scott was a very classy man. He loved his craft, but hated the idea of acting as a competition. He acted because it was his passion, not because he wanted to win awards.

  • awesome quote

  • Yet he had no problem accepting an Emmy years later, he WAS full of it, deal with it.

  • Goldie Hawn looks stupid!

  • But they don't talk about the part where George sent the Oscar back to the academy.

  • Goldie Hawn has got such a nice voice.

  • I just love Goldie's reaction when she saw George C. Scott's name in the envelope. Priceless!!!

  • One of the BEST winners.

    Brilliant.

  • Scott was the first actor to refuse an Oscar. I guess that would make Brando second.

  • Almost all of the nominees were in a Stanley Kubrick movie.

George C. Scott and James Earl Jones: Dr. Srangelove

    Ryan O'Neal: Barry Lyndon

    Jack Nicholson: The Shining

  • Wow, did he deserve to win!

  • He did
