We have a silver/black male somali and after we got him we found out that he looks like a squirrel acts like a dog sounds like a bird but is defined as a cat.. wonderfull pet

@kunzy3000 Not an idiot at all - maybe they don't live in America? Somalis are also bred in chocolate and lilac and red and cream and all the colours have a silver derivative here in the UK and in a lot of other countries. It's my understanding that some of the American registering bodies do accept silver Somalis.

i regret too that somali aren't popular i my country:( (Poalnd) I'm think sometimes to breed them but then I must have my own male and I'm unable to do that now, because I'm already breeding British Shorthair and haven't enough space right now to have a male:( I'm thinking about Abisinnian, they are more popular in Poland (but still not much) but Somali have this beautiful long coat.. :(

I have one, SorrelSilver beauty. Smart and needs a lot of attention. I also have Sphynx and those are the most attention demanding cats ever but the Somali is not far behind. Not a very good cat for you ppl that plan to leave them alone a lot, they really need a lot of contact with humans and not only other cats. Fun, smart and very beautiful for the right owner though.
