To everybody, my personal belief on the last moments of NGE are that Shinji became God and created the multiverse. Everything is cannon, even the most crack-y fanfictions. I think...
There were two movies released. The first was called Death and Rebirth and is essentially a summary of the TV series.
The second movie was called End of Evangelion, and it's another ending to the series.
On top of that, there's a four-movie series in production (two movies already made) called Rebuild of Evangelion which is a retelling from the beginning.
This video has clips from the TV series and End of Evangelion.
This series was beautiful, but so confusing that no one really knows how it ended or what was going on. Anyone who says they do and isn't one of its writers or directors, is lying to you.
Thats right. You THINK you do. As in life, the only truth you can find is in your own perception. The meaning behind everything differs with each person who watches it. I think thats the way it should be.
all i was saying is i see all these people saying im confused. so i was just tring to be confident and express my opinion. i realy like the way you posted your comment. your right its only in my perception that i think i understaand it.
Thanks-I'm kinda the same way actually. (until i try to watch the thing all over again and i realise something new i hadn't seen before..XD) But, Yeah, I think thats what makes Eva so much fun. There are so many theories its hard to tell the borderlines between fact and fiction. =)
Did you never watch the End of Evangelion movie? The series does make relative sense the whole time, its not honestly to hard to wrap your mind around.
@KitKiru Ok, what anime fan has never seen this movie? I have the movie at my house, watched it a few weeks ago. I check up the anime every now and then too. And you know what? Yeah, anime logic says an assimilation plot does make sense. But at the same time, the deeper meaning that most anime/manga is also pretty obvious here too. What is not so obvious is what is exactly happening. Farthermore, we've all had a decade or so to figure it out. At the time, most of us were too young to grasp it.
@Rosebunse well not all of it but i understand alot of it, like where and what LCL is and what an at field is and what it means and all that. I know what was actually happening in the end of evangelion but not about the moons and the tree of life and all of that, just makes no sense
@Rosebunse bullshit. simple. note during standard series they basically say "And then instrumentality happened, but we don't have time to show you." They end it on a nonsensical positive., but don't explain the one huge gaping hole amongst many smaller holes. In the movie, they show instrumentality and the result. Basically, End of Eva starts, and at the point that Shinji loses his shit, the inner monologue of the past couple standard episodes occurs.
@Rosebunse Once Shinji is able to make sense of his own existence, we return to the movie, in which he makes his final decision, and continues to exist. The sad part is, after all that self discovery, he still realizes that he's let everything die, except for the memories of Asuka, Rei and Misato. Still, he chooses a nihilistic outcome in that, upon seeing this new Earth, he still chooses death, and tries to end everything again...starting with Asuka.
@shithoagie For the sake of my own sanity, I'm going to believe that Asuka kept him from killing her. If I didn't think this, well, I probably wouldn't be sane.
@Rosebunse you're wrong. if someone tries to look at the series with some atention, and they do not just swallw the episodes, you can see what happens. i have recently started to watch it, and it is true that i may have to watch it agian, but i CAN figure out little stuff. it is an amazing series, and maybe it is true that it is confusing, but just as life itself is. however, i will try and watch it as many times as i have to, because it seems like the message is pretty deep and quite important.
@TheOlvaid I think the point of the series was very simple; don't try and figure it out. I posted that comment 2 years ago, and after much growing up and soul searching-and 2 college English classes where I was beat over the head with meaningless symbolism-I've decieded the point was probably not to figure it out and just accept it as a good anime. Don't write your doctoral paper on it, don't look for the meaning of life it in, just enjoy it. Sure, savor it, but don't waste your life on it.
If your best guess is "don't try and figure it out", well then you just enjoy the pretty animation. But it's really not that hard of a story to understand.
@DeliciousRon Yeah, but it takes an extreme turn with this anime, as well as many others. Instead of just enjoying it, people take it to such an extreme that they have to know what's going on. But what if there is nothing deeper? The director himself said that the story was more about people devoting their lives to geekdom and missing out on real life as they do it. But then people try to find ways to move around that so that it's about religion or something.
@Rosebunse It's really not that hard to understand. The Instrumentality happened, and then, in the film, Shinji rejected it and returned to being an individual.
@waterkeeper511 Yeah, I got that part. It just took me eight years LOL, but there are other things in this film that are far harder to understand. However, I stand by the idea that no one can fully understand this movie.
This video has definately not gotten enough attention. This was totally awesome! Great syncing up the video with the music, the feeling, the atmosphere of the whole thing. It really worked well together, congrats mates.
lol kinda hard to explain. In order for the Evangelion 'robot' to be operational, a pilot must synch with it. This allows the EVA to move with incredible speed and precision. Though the draw back is the pilot will feel any pain that the EVA feels. This pain is limited though, if an EVA were to be cut with a blade, the pilot would not suffer a cut, but feel as if they were cut. The Lance of Longinus(spear) is an exception to this, where it will inflict the same wound to the pilot as the EVA.
So how did the girl move at all if the spear stabbed through the robot's head, and thus, ruining the pilot's brain fuction? Or do you only feel the pain and your organs and muscles work just fine?
She was stabbed through the eye, I guess it missed her brain by a little bit or something. But if you watch closely you can see blood gushing out of the wound. (Because its the lance of longinus)
you just feel the pain. its not really a part of them. in episode 2 they tell shinji that its not his arm, and in episode 19 they chop off unit-00's arm and rei still used her arm afterwards, so no the pilot only feels what the eva feels, but doesnt necessarily harm the pilot's actual physical self, it could cause them to become to stressed out (die from being overwhelmed with pain)
Basically, she did die but was brought back to life at the end of the movie by Shinji, who essentially became a god for a little during third impact. But for some reason she still has her initial wounds (her eye was pierced and her arm was split in half, so they are both covered in bandages).
This was GREAT !!!! Congrats, thanks for uploading it.
