Most of us were either brothers or cousins/related. My brothers two boys went on to race in Mod 4’s a Wissota group that races in MN, Wisconsin, SD/ND Dakota, Wyoming here.
My cousins kids who was in orange kart raced has raced in what we call a Street Stock @ ogilvie raceway.com

At the time this video was taken only 2 karts did not have 5-point belts in them. The 17/32. Just a lap belt The scene were the one drove over the other. Those two were my brothers boys. I ask him to at least get the head nets on them. Thank god! We had more issues with the karts laying over on their side and the head slapping the ground than the nasty flips. That is why you see the nets. One non regular racer didnt strap the helmet on tight. That was the only time that happened
Ok there were three, my brother had another one, the kart in the shot with his kid spinning him out at the end of the video. So I guess my brother did not care about their safety all that much. It was worse before we had them put the lap belts in. Oddly enough my brother had another kart the green sprint car looking kart that was a kart designed to race. Matter of fact. I raced that kart in league racing at a rent to race league in 1996. The white one flipping hard at the end is another one.
By the looks of it, you have several thousands of dollars into what you race. From trailers, tires motors, fuel, karts etc. I am sure you could bet us. SO what!?
We raced and one track, raced hard and spent only hundreds. Matter of fact, we spent more on the clay for the track than we did for all the karts you see.
These my friend are lawn karts. Not intended to be raced. We set out to have fun. And we did. So ya, you could be us. Again, so what?
Let us know which is the best looking kart from the rage tag team of them. Many times we spent the better part of the day creating these crates. Each year was different.

Again, great video. I love how you guys do it very similar to how we race. Single-wheel-drive and gasoline. We call them "Galletta's Karts" or "Gas Stockers." Spend a fraction of the money and have WAY more fun than expensive WKA alky stuff.
Be careful though, there are some pricks online who just bash what we do. I've had to deal with a few of them lately.
The answer. Not sure just how fast on track. The track at is largest point was a 10th of a mile. We started out around high 12 seconds and got to under nine seconds to go around. We think 35mph racing. Not much faster in a staightline. We geared them for the track.
You have to know these were just stock Briggs, Techumsa and a lone Honda.
Racemoms husband here... To get my racing fix I drive a 360 sprint. But to tell you the truth, I think that looks like more fun. If me and my racing buddies had some karts like that I think we just might piss our pants laughing at each other! That looks like a blast!
Oh My God...this is the TRUE meaning of Racing. We had a track just like that with single wheel pull karts, and all i can say is WHAT A RUSH !!! Im 47 and we still get together every once in a while and race ! Hope more folks send in more videos like this! BACK YARD KART RACING and Sprint cars, thats the LIFE!
This is north of Minneapolis. We decided to go this way because these are lawn karts and one wheel wonders. The drive tire need to be planted to the track. It didn't work well turning left. The racing was the same.

Here is this area Wissota is a racing group that sanctions our racing, mostly.
Three of the ones you see here have been able to move in two the ranks of Mod 4 and Street Stocks.
2 in Mod 4s and Street the other.
One was in position to win the Street Stock Wissota 100 for streeters until Mom Nature took that away.
I was able to run the Mod 4 around a local track when the track was open for spring practice.

There were a few close calls a few times.
My brothers kid had to go in one time after he drove off turn 4 and hit a car. Knock his head pretty good.
There were some safety issues that we addressed. Like using cage nets. Or keeping helmets on and not roll onto the track after flipping over.
