I believe Mattel hired some women of ethnic descent to desighn these dolls. Im assuming there wasn't a variety for the ethnic dolls. There's 3 more basic fashion ones from the year. They are absolutly cute! My fave is one dressed in 60's fashion.

I know American Girl does it & their dolls are gorgeous but it would be nice to see a doll with those features that are more affordable! When I got one in the late 90s, they were like $85. Now they're $100!
