Oscar Wilde fue un genio absoluto y su obra literaria es conocida, reconocida, vigente, leída, disfrutada y admirada por niñós, jóvenes y adultos del mundo entero.
Pero nunca he oído hablar de este hombre que habla de él en el video.
A. His wife did not leave him - he left her, as it was a mistake for him to marry. B. The Ballad is NOT his best work. C. Wilde was "introduced to rough trade" by Robbie Ross D. Not everyone abandoned him. In fact it was his extensive circle of friends and admirers (especially Ross) that supported him until his death. E. He did not die in poverty. He just spent everything he was given at a ridiculous speed. He lived his last years as himself. Proudly and un-apologetically gay
WHO IS THIS GUY!!!!??? I could give much better lecture about Oscar Wilde. This one includes the simplest information, and sounds boring, PLUS i believe the man is not the biggest fan of O.Wilde. ZERO ENTHUSIASM AND PASSION IN HIS VOICE.Next time somebody wants a lecture about the brilliant Oscar Wilde give ME a call!!
i agree, but it seems the audience is not familiar with much, so hes trying to use the most scintillating parts of history at the expense of the anything else
This is utterly embarrassing. This is humiliating to everything Oscar Wilde stood for. And what is the audience laughing for? I agree with dlsharp9989, get the facts straight.
The speaker seriously needs to do his own homework before delivering a paper on Oscar Wilde, this is so full of inaccuracies that it is an embaressment.
Better than this exaggeration of an encapsulation, read Ellmann's book, Oscar Wilde, and McKenna's book, The Secret Life of Oscar Wilde. And Wilde was not convicted of sodomy, he did not receive the penalty for sodomy. Better research is warranted.
I am really enjoying being educated by such a fun and brilliant historian and orator

I have read and deeply admire the great Oscar Wilde since I was a child.
But I've never heard about this man who speaks.

Thanks for posting this comment on the errors in this video. Who is this guy speaking anyway? He needs to read Ellman, I think.

Not a very good description of Wilde's life and achievements. I agree with most of the other comments here.

Did Wilde smoke hashish? I'm not sure..? But the rest of this really is an insult to his life. Why were they laughing?

I suppose Mr. Stuart's account wasn't approved by the gay studies department at the community college.
