If you are looking for a 3D land and space battle choose EAW

@MasterSparda321 This game only costs 5 euro on Steam right now (an offer which won't last long) so I'd say it's worth it if you're just a little interested in the game. I personally think it's crap and eve online is the way to go :) But that's alot more expensive than 5 euro :P

The game is not that hard, but it is fun to watch. In this battle, the player spammed cruisers and spent approximately 4000 points more than the PC opponent , so it would really be an upset if the PC won. I would have been more impressed if he managed to do this mission using only the ships in the upper left corner.

This game is good. I particularly like that there ISN'T just "The one way to win that everyone picks" and then "A million other strategies that do not work."

I, for example, like to field a fleet of nothing but frigates and fighters, all of them armed with nothing but ion cannons and with no orders except "Co-operate" and let 'em rip. It's much, much more chaotic than this.

I pre-ordered the game a week ago and I'm having a load of fun playing it.

It's simple, but once you get online play it becomes quite challenging to defeat all the opponent deployment. It's addictive. Definately worth the cost :)

I take it the 'save/load deployment' buttons up the top mean you don't have to do all this set up each time? That would be a killer. Does it still work when your fleet changes?

The save/load buttons work per challenge. So I could reload a fleet that failed to win and tweak it, save, try again.

It can't load one fleet for multiple challenges at the moment, probably as each one has different ship/pilot limits. So one fleet wouldn't fit all.

It's good for dropping in for a match now and then. Interesting concept of designing your own ships and setting them up to work as a fleet against an opponent who has done the same.

Some people won't like the lack of control once the fleet is deployed, but for those who like setting up careful strategies and watching the resulting chaos it's a blast. When the AI works anyway (still in beta).

The Multiplayer is the most fun part, pitting player-designed fleets against each other.

The difficulty here is on the lowest setting which probably helped a lot. Once you customise a few ships, easy mode isn't really a problem. I've yet to try the harder modes.

@fenixdg Do the damage specifically show where the projectiles hit or do they appear generally as hitpoints fall? I think some other planetary scapes don't look real.

@fenixdg the whole game is too far from reality. Space battle will be fought at ranges of about 200 000+ km . Fighters will be absolutely useless as it will take ages to reach the enemy group. And by the time they reach it they will probably all be shoot down. All weapon advancement through the history is mostly about range and when You can shoot from 200 000km You'll never go back to close range ever.
