ahhh the compositions and the music is almost perfect, but the mixing is terrible, but for me still being such masterpiece, talking about composition, but i almost sure that yngwie doesn't how to mix his own songs....
Plz yngwie, are peolple that could do sound better the album, like yn Unleash the fury, or Perpetual Flame...
I love Yngwie and Tim together sounds great only one problem. I wish Ynwie would use a guitar with a hi gain Humbucker or just change the pickups out. That single pickup config strat sound is not heavy enough for this awesome song!!!! I've always thought can you imagine what YJM would sound like playing thru freekin Active EMGs or Seymour Duncan Blackouts!! That Strat sound needs to go.
Man, first of all he's not using a normal strat, his pickups are stacked humbuckers. Then, it already sounds mud as fuck, and the pickups have just been changed last year. With those kind of picupks you mention it would be impossible to listen to.Heavyness is not about distortion or gain or any of that shit, it's how you play, and remember the less distortion there is the bigger chords sound and not the opposite.
@Liturgyofwar I understand what your saying and the stacked pickups were new to me till i did some research recently. I just think thru a guitar like an Ibanez JS-1000 the3 sound would come off better just personal preference for this type of song. I play and have been playing a long time. When you say with the pickups I had mentioned it would be impossible to listen to your wrong man. I disagree with you. How about an Ibanez or a Dean or a Jackson. Stacked or not sounds like shit!!
I wouldn't listen to him fi he used those type of guitars and many wouldn't either.Yeah sure, the sound now sucks on his album, but from 1984 til 1998 he had a brilliant guitar sound and that's just the strat sound a lot of people love.Go listen to the lead sound on Trilogy or even the Live in Budokan. That's my favourite guitar sound ever.Sure it's my opinion though.Personally, Im not a fan of those guitars. But hey, matter of taste!
@Liturgyofwar Hey man I totally agree with you I should had never used the word shit and I apologize to all Yngwie fans i am one. My favorite is when he played with the Japanese orchestra. All I'm saying is to me the strat style sound and the band as a package it just to me something is not correct to my ear. Yeah man he had a heavier sound years back a more powerful sound I thought?? Maybe its just me I do love Yngwie man I really do. I think he and Shawn Lane are the greatest of All time.
my favourite guitar player but iv never liked his vocalists! does any agree????? there fucking pants only a few covers iv liked, like carry on my wayward son and gimme gimme
Yngwie's Relentless CD is the greatest example of guitar virtuosity ever recorded. No guitarist even comes close to Yngwie's sheer genius. The Relentless track is so over the top fast, clean, and precise it could only be played by our Maestro. As far as Critical Mass is concerned, try to mimic the solo starting at 2:25--it can't be done.
thank god for people like Yngwie. Amazing composers who know their shit like the back of their hand. Put out amazing music for such little money compared to asshole pop stars (not saying any names u know who). But honestly Yngwie is probably richer then any pop star out there. Think of it this way they make money off of maybe 1 or 2 albums if that. Maybe 2-3 tours. Yngwie has been touring at least since like 1979! And has put out alot of albums so yeah.... in the long run pop is screwed.
I bought this album and it was a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. Sounds like it was recorded inside of a plastic garbage can! With all of his millions and his own in-house recording studio, he could have done a better recording job! And this is coming from someone who has every album and has been a fan since the age of 14 (now 40). (I also have his strat.) I can't even adjust my 650 watt Rockford Fosgate to make this album sound "unmuffled". What a disappointment and waste of $. Don't bother buying.
His new album sounds a little too subdued and toned down compared to his previous works IMO, maybe because most of the songs are slow to mid-paced. It's not a bad album by any means, but I wish it had more fast songs like Rising Force and Demon Driver. The third track saved the album for me, now that's a great one! Maybe I should learn to appreciate slower songs...
Cudos to you my friend SuperShred1000 for telling people to actually SUPPORT the artist if they want to hear more. about time people actually started paying to listen to music again. Too much talent is wasted out there cause there is hardly any financial incentive to create inspiring music … what a sin.
Yeah it's one thing for established artists who can afford to finance a tour and make money that way, but for new artists it's pretty much impossible to make any money. Sad times.
I just wish yngwie would do something a little more interesting. I mean, the solo from this song could have been from any of his songs...it sounds the exact same.
Tim Owens has some serious POWER in his voice... Unfortunately I don't think he's a Joe Lynne Turner or Mike Viscera.. Those guys had more melodious voices :3
How quickly time flies and how quickly those who were once so high can fall down so low. Yngwie Malmsteen the once critically acclaimed "Guitar Virtuoso" proves once again with "Relentless" why in his latter years, he has proven to be a mere shadow of his former self. Recycled riffs, licks, and in typical Yngwie fashion inept lyrical ability plague this entire album from start to finish, causing the album as a whole to be quite a chore to listen to.
Im glad the Yngwie/Ripper combo is back. Its a great match in the tonal range. There were some slightly unrefined spots in Perpetual Flame but his is really refined and tight.
Yngwie & Tim Ripper Owens for the WIN ! Enough said already about which Guitarist is Better then go to their Videos but leave us Malmsteen Faithful to Enjoy this.
witching hour is nowhere near clean. dance of kashani is more clean but still isent. theres 2 much finger slidin noise goin on and you hear lots of un necessary bs noises
jesus, when I said clean I meant played presice as hell, finger sliding noises and overall Stump's sound - that's raw and and that's how it's supposed to be, but he plays precise, more so than YNgwie and on much much more difficult passages. on last few albums Yngwie has a muddy sound and is many times hard to distinguish the notes....he was best on the first Rising Force and in Alcatrazz!
Just google, say Dance of Kashani or Witching Hour.
Yngwie cant touch that from both technical and songwriting point of view, and the guy plays it live like it's a piece of cake. Some of the arpeggios there are out of this earth and all perfectly clean.
The main problem is not the singer but the compositions! The leads are PERFECT but the rhythms and the vocal lines are very boring and so predictable!
Ripper was awesome on Jugulator and even on Glorious Burden by Iced Earth, but he just does not fit Yngwie's music. Doogie White was the best after Soto and Leven.Yngwie needs a producer and some musicians who will create music with him. This way he's worsening with time instead of getting better. He's also desperatly trying to shred as fast as possible, but he's not the fastest nor should he try to be.Try Joe Stump's Virtuostic Vendetta to see what 21st century neoclassical metal is all about:))
@jfutach : Joe Stump is not so good guitarist, he is very sloppy and he has bad-amateur sound... But I like him, because he tries to be like Yngwie..!!!
What have you been listening too :)) maybe some of his old badly produced tracks.
Listen to Virtuostic Vendetta. Sound and technique is brilliant. I love YNgwie and grew up on him, but he's out of Joe's league. Even though he always talks about pushing his limits, Joe's already done it, and alot cleaner and more complex.
Fuck Off To All You Haters ! Yngwie & Tim Ripper Owens did an Awesome Job on this Album. Sorry but Yngwie always rises up from the ashes just like a phoenix to Prove all his Doubters Wrong !
Ripper Is a Great singer . But He doesn't suit Yngwie Malmsteen. But Remember Yngwie Writes the music and words ,maybe he should write songs That suits Tin Owens,?
Tedious! Yngwie has been doing the same crap for almost 30 years now! Same old, licks, riffs, and now poor improvised solos (nowhere near as good as first few albums). Yngwie has sadly become a caricature of himself, pushing out the same old stuff every album, sadly just like Staus Quo doing the same thing he has a market that wil buy & praise anything they do. For someone with perfect pitch Yngwie produces albums badly with inferior sound quality. People buying 'Relentless' are SAD!
@CloudsBeyond your right ,, I'm a Malmsteen fan since forever, man this guy's has not done anything differant. I'm afraid that this album is already forgotten.Poor guy. With all of his knowledge in recording etc,, it still has that fuckin rumble bass sound. It's a Malmsteen world, and nobody is allowed to enter or offer some creative song construction input. Really is the new album like his old one ? New power in his songs ?? I love Yngwie but I prefer his older albums like trilogy, but this one seems like the old one in Yngwies best times !!!
Hi :) One thing about Yngwie's career is that for sure his first three albums (but also Alcatrazz and some Steeler) have something special. IMHO is not about music, playing, sounds etc. It's about being 20 y.o. Raw energy.
