Thats not true at all, honestly. African Greys might have a low price tag, even at around $800-1000, plus the cost of a suitable cage which is around $500, but they require alot of attention, vet bills and special diets. My vet bills in a year amount to over $800, my food bills for my birds are over $2000 not to mention things that aren't food or vetcare, like toys, cleaning supplies, or other hidden costs. Birds are expensive and when you choose to buy a bird, it is a lifetime commitment.
