I have been following Corvettes for many years. Looking back at a 2003/04 Corvette and your looking at the same numbers. Given what tires you go with you may even pull a second faster. Now you got the Z06 where it's is rated at 0-60 in 3.9 What I don't understand is Corvette makes every modification possible for the C6 models. They seem to be coming out with Corvettes that are all seconds apart from each other with stock motors and cost 30 to 60,000 less Corvette ZR-1. Today the real power isn
I never liked the base model for the price, my favorite was the Z06 until I found out the 2010 grand sport was a base with Z06 styling amd more fpr only $65,000
including tax and shipping, I want ine so bad, even though im a import guy this is my favorite supercar
Leonard302 The issue with dropped valves was actually needle bearings in the titanium rocker arm assembly and was fixed in 2007 y using a different vendor. It is also covered under the Warranty.
I have been thinking about a ZO6 for a year or so now. GM has had an issue with dropped valves in the LS7 so im not pulling the trigger yet. I do like the removable top and wide body of the grand sport. This car performs well. I think in the long run it may be a better car.
@762SLR762 I totally agree, the "buy American" crap is just that, crap. GM needs to think internationally, their newer models are definitely competitive in quality but unlike Ford which I think is more respected in the UK than it is in the US even, GM does nothing for marketing. Pontiac and Saturn sold shitloads of cars, the companies bigest failure is bad buisness not so much bad products (although they have made some crap cars in the past, they are putting out good cars atm)
grand sport.. amazingg my dad jus gotta 2010 black on chrome really fast car but does the grand sport compete with vipers lambos ferraris ext like the zo6 and which is better z06 or grand sport
Even though the Z06 performs better, the grand sport can still compete to with most of the cars that you listed. There is a lot of talk about the GS being better than a Z06 because it is not that much worse but costs about 20k less. It is very likely a better car dollar for dollar even though the Z06 can outperform it.
Duh either they have a ZR1 that was put together right or their drivers suck ass cuz there is other videos of the ZR1 doing way better then these shit drivers

Well the Grand Sport has only a 430 hp Ls3 v8.And a top speed of 190 mph.
The ZR1 on the other hand,has a 638 hp supercharged 6.2 L v8.With a top speed of 205 mph..Those are the main differences.The others would be the zr1 has better braking,handling,etc..
"weebp08" ROFL? Everyone Ignore this guy. Hes clearly the retard here. Hes calling a M3 Coupe a soccer mom car. Clearly hes a dip shit. If he thinks a coupe can be a soccer mom car. Shut the fuck up retard. I clearly made my point that the M3 is the better deal yet you come here and call it a soccer mom car. You have no idea what's a soccer mom car. You're just jealous. You hate to much. In the beginning all I stated was the M3 was a better deal. Then you diss the M3. Little dick fuck.
I never drove a vette before and this one either, so can't comment on how well it handles, yet, just by straight line performance, surely this is a beast; American beast...
All this video test prove's is the 2010 Grand Sport produce's no better track times than a regular 2010 Vette. And for any sucker that wants to pay 16K more for a body package. Its your stupid choice.
Couple problems with all that, first of all the grand sport package starts a little under $6k more than a base Corvette. Honestly do some of you not understand what an options are? The Grand Sport does NOT start at 70k, its ~$56k
2nd it comes with bigger breaks, dry sump oil system, and wider tires, and the aforementioned different final drive ratio. Now I'm not saying its the 2nd coming, but it's sure as shit not just a body package
the "aforementioned" drive ratio which I forgot to mention...Its slightly lower or taller(i forget which). Basically its simply a replacement for the Z51 package, with the addition of the dry sump. I really don't see what all the bitching is about...
wait a min. Are you saying wider track and better brakes are not worth it? just because half of the folks can't properly drive the damn car doesn't mean it's not worth it. Much better than the old Z51 package if you ask me
how do you figure? the vette will beat the CTS-V on the track anyday of the week and so will the Viper ARC, corvette Z-51, ZR-1 and the Ford GT...sorry but the CTS-V is NOT A SPORTS CAR at all and will not handle as well as the sports cars I mentioned and is not as fast as them.
Its between the base corvette and the ZO6 why does it need a supercharger? They werent trying to kill the ring with this one just trying to put out a nice vette. And they did a great job.
the suspension doesnt really mean anything in straightline tests. watch it actually going around the track to really see is leaf spring suspension is bad. it didnt work out in the shelbygt500 but it could work on this
I'm not sure what you guys are looking at this comes directly from Cadillac and Chevrolet Web Site, Corvette GS base price 54,770, CTS-V base price, 62,020, thats just base price. However a Fully loaded GS 69,725 with all options save the 1,200 automatic Transmission. CTS-V fully loaded, 69,130, so in that case the GS is only slightly more expensive. But overall I think this proves my point.
The skipad and acceleration was a little bit off comapre to other test i have seen ex. 0-60 in 4.1 sec and 1.02 G in the skidpad..but still I think that this car is not a track day beast but is a good sports car and is pretty comfortable for every day driving (for the a sport car) and the MPG is great!
@FerrariandBMW - relative to thecompetition and price I think this $60,000 corvette is hard to beat. The GTR will cost as much as a Z06 so I wouldn't consider that in the same class. But I'd spend my personal money on a M3 sedan at this price. Practical and still a track beast. But it will not hang with a proper sportscar like this vette.
on a course with hard breaking the BMW gets brake fade problems, a simple upgrade there would improve the car. and call me crazy but i like the torque of the LS3 over the M3
I've seen the C6 'vette go 0-60 in 4.2, along with the 12.4 1/4mi, so obviously traction was an issue for them on this particular testing track/day. In any event, I like how it maintains a low 12 second 1/4mi versus an STi, which does 0-60 in 4.7, but dies in the 1/4mi, with only a 13.3 time...
okay guys.. this is edmunds. are we comparing edmunds times to edmunds times here? because they are always slow.
MT posted 3.9 for the GS and car & driver posted 4.0, which is certainly what it is capable of.
but the M3 and GS cater to two different people. personally, i would take the GS, simply because i prefer the car. but that's not to take anything away from the M3.
i don't think this is a case where one car is better than the other.. this is a case of personal preference
Evrybody just ignore this guy -- he is just trying to justify to himself why he bought a soccer mom car. I pointed out the M3s continuous losses in Car & Driver's Lightning Lap -- a magazine that continuously rates BMWs highly -- but N/J is not persuaded by facts. I recommend that all the objective types on these boards not waste your keystrokes.
Wrong, the M3 would be consistently pulling those times because of its superior traction control. And it's not just about numbers of grip in the corners, it's about feel. The M3 simply feels better on a track. Plus it's cheaper.
its not cheaper, maybe it is if you have more money than brains and option it out with $30k in options you don't need, but anyone with sense can get one for just over 50k with all the good parts. You'd be lucky to get seats in an M3 for that price. ..
far as tracks go, I'd rather have a Grand Sport for a few reasons; the "feel" was improved in 08, and the Corvette unlike the M3 isn't a car known for break fade and cooling issues. Though i hear the latter is an issue more common on the more mundane 3 series variants.
and you've drien both the M3 and this new vette have you to be able to actually say which one feels better on a track? no, oh well then please by all means STFU fanboy.
what feel? i would stop trusting peoples review about the "feel" of cars because everyone has their own preferences and if you haven't driven both the m3 and the grand sport you wouldn't know which one "feels" better and even if you did thats purely your opinion, example: some people like the raw feel of the no traction control tall gear 6 speed manual acr while others would prefer the technologically controlled gtr

In the last video of the Grand Sport they said the car shoots up to 70K with options.
In theory you can get a M3 E92 for about the same price.
Grand Sport: 4.4, 0-60
E92 M3: 4.5, 0-60
Grand Sport: 12.4@115.1mph, 1/4
E92 M3: 12.6@ 113.7mph, 1/4
Grand Sport: 68.8mph, Slalom
E92 M3 71.4mph, Slalom
If you look at these numbers. You can tell the M3 is the better deal. You can tell the M3 will perform better on a track with corners.
NigguhJason 2 years ago
Well, I wouldn't say it would perform better. I'd actually have to say that they would be even.
Plus that 0-60 of the M3 is probably the best time it's gotten. It wouldn't be consistently pulling those times while the vette does.
But I agree, the M3 does seem like the better deal at 70k.
You can get a z06 for the same price and really pull some great numbers.
Meli083 2 years ago 2

and you've drien both the M3 and this new vette have you to be able to actually say which one feels better on a track? no, oh well then please by all means STFU fanboy.

what feel? i would stop trusting peoples review about the "feel" of cars because everyone has their own preferences and if you haven't driven both the m3 and the grand sport you wouldn't know which one "feels" better and even if you did thats purely your opinion, example: some people like the raw feel of the no traction control tall gear 6 speed manual acr while others would prefer the technologically controlled gtr
