i am cuban,and i've got to say,vicki sue's version,winds hands down. it is not even close. i bet a lot of people are playing the ethnic latino thing. let's have a reality check. there is so much more percussive and vocal bite,to vicki sue's rendition. gloria is just so "cubichy vainilla" bland.  to be fair,i've never thought much of gloria's vocal prowess to begin with. i respect her integrity as a person,i've never been keen on her artistry.

It was 10 years ago today 4-27-10 that she died of breast cancer at age 46. I have her 4 LP's. She was 22 doing this big hit. made it another 24 years before leaving this planet. She had so many great ballads - one should have become a big hit too!
