  • would u leave ur kid with him in the same room, would u?

  • to people trapped in a metro somewhere: The Terminal

  • It's a ridiculous question - all his movies are about people. Certainly as he says Sugarland Express fits even if you require the absense of much else in the film.

  • @xgnothixseautonx You speak pure bullshit

  • I want the glasses he's wearing, they look kool

  • FUCK OFF NDP!

  • i think the color purple was too melodramatic but its understandable since it was first time doing something more concerned with people as the lady said. he perfected the style required for that kind of film with Schindler's List.

  • good lord what an arrogant prick he was back then, glad he's loosened up over the years

  • He looked even more Jewish when he was younger.

  • @HereticLikeGalileo im not racist but i do find it odd so many jews hold high profile posistions in hollywood and entertainment in general.

  • @gaelenfade Jews openly admit they control Hollywierd. h t tp: / /articles.l atimes.c o m/2008/dec/19/opinion/oe-stein19

You don't have to resort to the "not a racist" disclaimer in order to say something that may offend a Jew. The word "racist" is used for the purpose of silencing White people who offend non-whites or Jews; it's very, very, very rarely used on those who offend Whites. Don't perpetuate anti-white double standards by using said disclaimer; just speak your mind.

  • @HereticLikeGalileo well i am white/black and my cousin is actually jewish living in NJ. So in truth i am not racist just making an observation.

  • @gaelenfade So, let me get this straight: according to you, only Whites can be "racist" and you can't be because you're non-white? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the impression I get from your providing your mixed racial background and Jew relative as some sort of disclaimer (apparently).

  • @HereticLikeGalileo i cant speak for others ui was just making an observation based on numerical information. Saying more black people play professional basketball then whites wouldnt be racist it would be a correct observation thats all.

  • @gaelenfade To clarify, I don't think the term "racist" is a valid term at all. Just curious what your view is, though.

  • @HereticLikeGalileo Its not a view. At this time more people of jewish ancestry are in posistions of authority in hollywood and entertainment media as a whole. It doesnt make them evil or bad just an observation.

  • damn he was ugly

  • i see nothing wrong with doing people movies (a movie without visual effects) as well as movies that require visual effects. its more or less, for me, if the story is interesting and i can have fun with the movie.

  • And then came "The Color Purple."

  • The human comedy says, and he finally achieved it with Schindler's List, hilarious!

  • I agree that Spielberg COULD for sure make a smaller drama, and it'd be equally good as the big budget films he's made...just look at Close Encounters and the whole family dynamic he had there with the Terri Garr and Richard Dryfuss characters...So Spielberg always does HAVE smaller dramas, he just puts those (often pretty realistic) families through extraordinary circumstances

  • also- I didn't mean to diss Woody Allen or those other directors, they did some great work in the 70's...just seems that now, in 2009, it's "cool" to bash Spielberg, and I think people should stop and realize the great things he HAS done to reinvent cinema in the last 35 years

  • I do agree on the two class film style we now have...especially in Sci-Fi, where it is very difficult to make something with a small budget...those smaller films have to be about ideas rather than spectacle ("Primer" was one of those films)- Most aspiring directors who want to make sci fi will likely hold at least one Spielberg film as what influenced them to do it, but the best thing is to start off small- not everyone will be able to make "Duel" as their first film

  • -to clarify my comment...the 70's era filmmaking changed in '77, due to Star Wars and Close Encounters...previously it was all about John Cassavetes, Robert Altman, etc(smaller dramas, focused 100% on acting)..that was changing in '77, to become more of what became the 80's,due to Lucas and Spielberg.-the lady in the audience is asking Spielberg if he'd want to do small character dramas with no SFX (i.e. Woody Allen)- my response is Im glad Spielberg didnt become another Woody Allen-

  • (Part 2) Instead of following the critical opinions of his day, Spielberg made BIG films- not just "Welcome Back Kotter" on the big screen, but films like Jaws, like Close Encounters, Raiders, ET, Temple of Doom...films that had awesome action and effects, but with good acting that fit the types of stories he was telling...for that, the film world can be grateful...even in his more dramatic films (Empire of the Sun) he brought a vision to the screen that Woody Allen did not

  • I think the Color Purple or Schindler's List may have satisfied what the lady was asking for

  • @worldofbong Perfect Comment.

  • @Kapp2007 true but you can't forget about Heaven's Gate flopping. It was an 'Blockbuster Art Film' that cost a huge amount of dough to make and totally failed at the box office and I can forgive a studio thinking 'people don't want to see those kinda films anymore, they want another Star Wars and ET'

  • @Kapp2007

Fact remains, Woody Allen pawns Spielberg, lol.

  • etc

  • thankfully, he did NOT go on to make that movie...instead we got Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, ET, Jurrasic Park, Minority Report...

  • but also Color Purple, Schinder's List, Empire of the Sun.. hello
