I returned these to the store. The mic is noisy as hell and the emulated 7.1 sounds awful. The stereo sound on the other hand is very good for that price. so maybe the Carcharias would be worth a listen if the microphone noise was the fault of the mic preamp in the Megalodon.

@Razuld you should study more before buying a system trust me. First i'd go with a 2600k instead, a gtx 580, 8gigs of ram is just fine ( make sure that they are compatible with motherboard regarding MHz)

@maniandabomb The headset is made for gaming 0.o. Compared to most other headsets, this one excels in sound whoring. With the 7.1 surround sound, you can hear everything from a mile away.

@TelepathicT I have possibility to 7.1 in my headset but modern games like BF3 manage to make it sound like it would be 7.1 with just 2.0. Also 7.1 sounds a little more "damped" than the 2.0, in other words you hear small sounds like footsteps in fps games way easier with 2.0.

I just got my Razer Megalodon, and sweet baby jesus is it better then my Logitech G930's, the G930's are TERRIBLE, the microphone is crap, and it has no noise canceling, but the Razer Megalodon, the Maelstrom is SOOO useful, the microphone is CRYSTAL CLEAR, and it is EXTREMELY comfortable.

ehmm im having a slight issue with this headset.. when playing counter strike with 2.0 sound on the headset. the sound is very clear, but then i enable 7.1 surround sound ... the surround is fine, i can hear things from a longer distance and i know where my enemies are, but the sound isnt clear ..and there's echo in the sound..tips anyone?

@sluppyy That does not mean that CS has surround sound unless of course you are referring to CS and not the headset. If the headset has a toggle feature, that does not automatically mean all sound is now in surround sound. CS is a very old game so I have my suspicions that it supports 7.1 surround sound. You might want to research what sound quality is or invest in a few more years learning how to better register the English language in text form.

Don't believe in this review. Just bought a pair and they sound like rubbish compared to my G35s.They truly sound bad and the worst issue is that the microphone is terrible. Last issue is the gloss finish, fingerprint magnet alert! it looks like shit after a few uses and constantly cleaning them is annoying.

Stay clear of these... or go a head, waste your money.

@MartinHerigstad Yes. It is compatible with Mac OS X since it's a USB headset. And if you are a mac user, always look for USB based headsets. I have six USB headsets and the RAZER Megalodon is one of the best you could get for mac. note if you are going to ask questions about macs remember to include OS X so others know what you are talking about. since there is bootcamp and all.
