  • It´s reeeeeally critical and reeeeeally artistic at the same time. The combination and harmony of aesthetic and message is perfect!

  • @CriticaLxThoughX This Song is Sayin A LOT and It makes You Think DAMe xD It Is CRAZY!

  • Money are only papers and metal, the only "Value" it has is what we give it. What value does it have if your stranded? You cant eat it, you cant use it to chop down a tree. You can make a shitty campfire thats what.

  • @zezimine2 really? no way. i dont believe you. money is magical, everyone knows that.

  • @AltWill Yes. It gives you the ability of healing people by touch, and flying like superman, shooting laser beams out of your eyes... Yes im sorry i am so wrong. (_ _")

  • Did they purposely switch the people on the 10 and 20? Hamilton's on the $10, Jackson's on the $20.

  • This is....wow, I have no words. Digital trash will kill us all.

  • Cash

  • money doesn't subjugate people, people subjugate people.

  • Contrary to popular belief most people in the world don't use money. They just use Fiat Currency which is rapidly heading towards it's ultimate value of.. zero.

Protect yourself and get some REAL money - physical Gold or Silver (bullion coins are great). The real evil is the Banks using Fiat Currency and Usury to enslave us all. Get out now while you can and get something real.

  • @TheHolySpirit Forget gold and silver, that is also fiat currency, it only has a value as long as the industry has a need to consume it. Back in history it was the aristocracy who liked it at the same time it was hard to come by, these days it is the industry while the ability to extract gold has increased. No, you need to own LAND. Somewhere that you can grow potatoes on. If there is no market at least you can grow for yourself so you survive while other die.

  • Money is a unit of measure, an inch is to Length what a dollar is to Value. At the very most it's just a means to an end, something to be traded, not accumulated. I'd rather have a nice suit,a flash car, a killer penthouse and an empty bank account

  • @TheCyberToad that means an inch is changeing in value over time. Or the lengths is changeing over time and the inch is constant cause, the number of inches on a meter seems to be changeing year after year. If I were you I rather own some land and a shotgun and some hired henchmen. :)

A penthouse with no food in it or a car with no fuel in it is pretty worthless no matter how many inches long the car is.

  • sick!

  • Who's face is in the middle of the star?

  • @kinceymoy Andre the Gianr

  • P.A.Z!!!

  • finally something that doesnt promote evil...

  • 7'4" 520lb ??

  • i love the artork in this clip....... OBEY IS THE KING....the image at 3.25 of the boot coming down, is printed on my shirt

  • Than why are your people looking at me right now? They must be feeling very guilty, yes they know, thats why therir looking, yes I know, so now what? So now what do I have to do what you say? Cause Im so called thinking again.

  • Way to recycle communist garbage you haven't ever read.

  • @MorbidJoy truth! nice call.

  • @MorbidJoy

communist garbage is better than capitalist brainwashing

  • @yandiggles

    Opinions' are like assholes...

  • @yandiggles

...? I'm pretty sure I dislike both of them equally. lol

  • He got the $10 and $20 increments wrong. Jackson is on the 20, Hamilton on the 10.

  • Lol he says "Useless Grant" is on the 50 dollar bill.

  • man I have so much more respect for N.A.S.A. seeing obey art and tomwaits in one of there songs.

  • I really respect and admire Shep Fairey's work and have been following him since before he came out with his clothing line, but sometimes I get this feeling that he might actually be a Freemason himself. I really hope not, since the price of fame in this world costs more than just money.

  • Youtube - a multimillion dollar company. A necessity now for artistic social changing media alone.

  • @TheMotorestaurant vimeo.com son

  • people believe in money more than they believe in each other. that makes money evil.

  • obey

  • @hotlittledago It's the thirst of that money is why they're evil lol

  • Dammit Sheppard You Rock!!!

  • Sheppard Fairey as OBEY THE GIANT ! <3 I Love his Artworks

  • i would have to say this band has some awsome music videos. very creative

  • People that know what money really is. Understand that money is the root of all "evil". Evil doesn't really exist, but most of the things people call "evil" are causes directly or indirectly by our monetary system. Which is a form of slavery, you would all see that if you knew

    1) what money is

    2) how its made

  • .. this song grew on me lol

at first though I thought it was hypnotizing , in a bad way .

but I think its really real :]

  • all i can say is thank god for david byrne

  • Money is the biggest illusion i ever seen in this world. I love illusions as long as they do not make me blind !

  • you wouldnt be saying that if this song made you any money.

  • obey giant!

  • @ByThiaguinhooo

    Shepard Fairey!

  • best nasa song

  • money is the root of all evil but you should buy obey clothing haha talk about subliminal

  • they got it wrong, hamilton is 10, jackson is 20. haha.

  • Like it matters.

  • @tormento24

haha, it doesn't, but it's funny to see how dumb they are.

  • People are the creators of good/ evil (good and evil were 'born' when we were 'born'). I personally don't believe there is a difference between good and evil, there are only choices. I base this on the fact because if someone makes a choice that he/ she thinks is good, there is someone else on the planet that suffers the opposite side of it, the 'evil' part.

And that money discussion below me can be solved in a very logical answer: if the whole planet things something is real, it becomes real

  • people are the root of all evil

  • i know all of us thought this at least once in their lives...money is just paper so why is it we treat money like it's worth more than our lives?...just asking

  • i guess that 4 some people money IS life...

and that in our society wihout money you're nothing, like everything has to be bought...

  • yeah that makes sense. It would be an awesome world if there was no money :D

  • very true my friend

  • communism

  • @One777oto72ide nah dude communism is too possessive and controling

  • fuck the meaning. the song is catchy as fuck.

  • 2 things that kick ass, N.A.S.A. & Shepard Fairey

  • Oh, and you're a dumbshit for saying we should use a socialist system of ANYTHING. Socialism can't sustain itself because with equal distribution of all goods people lose the incentive to work which then leads to lower productivity which leads to less resources which leads to shittier living standards. I appreciate your lame attempt at getting political and profound, but maybe do with reasoning that makes half an ounce of sense.

  • owned like shit

  • @uptonsn First of all thanks for the nice comments. Second: I would burn the money if up to ME. I know money is necesary to live, and I don't love money but I need it like anyone.

Third: I probably didn't explain the point properly, but for Socialist system, I meant something different. YOu get the necessary goods (housing, transport, possibly non polluting, repair, food, etc...) as based on your merits, and that's why you wouldn't need a currency. It' obviously Utopia (at the moment.)

  • @uptonsn More than a month has passed but XTimes3GreaterThanU has replied to me so I'm back here.

I replied to you in a civil way and yet I never received a reply back.

That shows how great you are, thinking you're cool and smart just because you sit in front of a computer insulting people from the other side of the globe...

By the way I admit that my politcal and economical knowledge (as in all areas of knowledge) is scarce but at least I have a decency to put up a dialogue no a fight.

    A presto

  • @THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE: To put it simply (and I say this in a sarcastic voice to mock you), you're fucking retarded. First, without any means of currency or method of acquiring things an economy in theory couldn't exist. Second, I highly doubt your desire to "burn all money." I'm guessing you say to this to seem somehow inciteful when you pray for your paycheck and love money just like all human beings.

  • @uptonsn Fourth: The economy is VIRTUAL (prove me otherwise) as it is based on stuff like the federal reserve, or the "signoraggio" (don't know how to translate this in english, sorry) of the banks. It's all cheques given in for cash with NO value. Same goes for Wall Street.

Fifth: You should try changing the tone of your replies, because even if you are right you just result as an arrogant person in the eyes of someone with a stronger intelligence than that of a carrot.

  • @uptonsn And i don't even receive paychecks because I'm a university student and it's hard to find even the simpliest job here in Italy. I don't know about the U.S.

And the last paycheck I received was for a shit job in an office, and the one before as a sales clerk and it was at the limit of exploit, it was 240 EURO FOR A MONTH'S WORK.

  • @THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE You certainly appear like a free thinker, but please allow me to explain some points. First off, I would state that all "economy" is simply a virtual representation of our exchange of actions. Not just American money but all currency in fact has no absolute value. It still surprises people that the dollar isn't "backed" by gold since the 1970's (when we were off the international gold standard). The power of money isn't inherent, it is the agreed upon...

  • @XTimes3GreaterThanU To put it simply, apples are 74 cents a pound because that's what the store asks and we pay that price, because a pound of apples is worth more to us than three quarters of a dollar. To "burn money", by which I assume you mean abolish our fiat money system, simply regresses us to a standard currency of intrinsic value, i.e. gold. The problem with this would of course be our agreement of the intrinsic value in a global situation.

  • This still has us in situation in which "economy" is "virtual." Please understand that economy is simply an analysis of choices. It's a concept and a way of thought more than a singular entity separate from human choices. You're "Utopian" definition doesn't change the economy from this. In you're model I would chance that there would be some way of tracking your "merit," which I liken to "service to humanity". That's all fiat money (like the U.S. dollar) is, a measure set in place to assure...

  • @XTimes3GreaterThanU that you're service to humanity is given an equal service by those of others. Also, though I fear this last point shall be unheard, is that in any "Socialist" country there has always existed a government to allocate the resources. Historically, Government is horrible at allocating resources and rewarding merit. Government also doesn't understand that the economy works on its own, affected by billions of individual's choices each moment.

  • @XTimes3GreaterThanU I agree with you for the most part and you seem to know more than me about economy.

I pointed out a Utopia, an Anarchy, something that could be achieved only by progressing forward, evolving into a "new" humanity. Now, all systems are flawed, for man is flawed. Also he has given power to elites that aspire to have more and more power for themselves.

Anyway I want to thank you for your polite response. Others should learn from you. Cheers from Italy.

    N.

  • ohh i like this one

  • cool

  • I love this song =) However, technically...money isn't the root of all evil. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. (^_^)

  • @tahierayeliah To put it simply money is virtual. It's just paper or numbers on a luminous board on Wall Street. It's the reason for greed and wars. If it was for me, I'd just burn it all, or better still recicle it, and return to a "socialist" trading, where everyone gets what they need, PERIOD.

  • my god your an idiot

  • to clarify, are you insulting me or that douche THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE?

  • themanoutofthecave

it's not even worth it arguing with these idiots man, but i give you a hell of a lot of credit for trying

  • I really feel this song and video, but can't seem to get over the fact that he mixed up Andrew Jackson and Alexander Hamilton. The rapper sounds foreign so I'll cut him a little slack; but seriously, how did no one in the entire production of this album, song, and video not recognize the mistake and correct it?

  • exactly, atleast he could of check his sources loll

  • There is a difference between greed and ambition - just because someone wants money doesn't mean they're evil.

Now, Madoff and some of those other assholes - yea, those guys are damn greedy.

  • omfg yesss i finally found this song! it was on the damages promo and i just wanted it so badddd.

  • He said "10 dollar bill - Andrew Jackson" and "20 dollar bill - Alexander Hamilton" but he got them mixed up methinks...

  • money is not so bad but people use money in lets say not cool way the song is awesome

  • @TheImmigrantsong No, the paper dollar is a form of economic slavery.

  • @DKGonzo86 Correct! And since 1971 the dollar is NOT money (since Nixon came off of the Gold Standard) It IS Fiat Currency - backed by nothing but the thin air from which it was created by the Fractional Reserve banking system.

People - Try and name a single Fiat Currency throughout history that has preceded the present one that hasn't completely collapsed and become worthless.

Historically over thousands of years gold and silver have more or less kept their value compared to fake currency.

  • @RubyBladeAwesome Aw, man, two thumb-downs? What's up with that.

  • molly the clone sheep is evil too ; )

  • there has got to be a better way

  • money is too specific. the general term would be greed as the root of evil

  • Poor money someone's gotta stick up for him right? Bitch Please!

Christ man, its called writing lyrics. If he wanted to wanted to get all polemical he woulda written a boring ass dissertation on the human condition.

  • @Sidewalker93 OBEY = Shephard Fairey, so it's not that odd it reminds you of him.

  • the only thing that makes people miserable are the sight of emo's.

  • This is what turns humans into satan demons devils money loves misery

  • yup youtube turning evil now 2 cuz of it

  • Got this all wrong.

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil

  • @rightcoastbias How would there be a love for money if money did not exist? Egoism is the root of all evil would be the correct correction.

  • @rightcoastbias

The love of money is the evil, money is the root of that love :P

  • Comment removed

  • @rightcoastbias I can make an argument that greed and or ignorance is the root of all evil.

  • @rightcoastbias both statements are bullshiit

  • @rightcoastbias not having money is the root of all evil

  • Nice Video, i was waiting since the album was out!

@sbkbking you´re right but i mean not just the money... more the Love to them, it´s a question of our own attitude!

  • money is the root of all evil

  • style reminds me of shepard fairey :D

  • fucking sick! really interesting video

  • This song kicks so much ass!

  • la caña!!! mola musho! no me canso de escucharla!

  • so wack david byrne what the fuck are you doing!?

  • Making an appearance on an ill DJ's first album it seems.

  • Well I was quite obviously being facetious but if you think this is ill you are FUCKED in the head.

  • too right

  • i lvoe david byrne. best part

  • shepard fairey's art sucks less when it's animated, i guess.

  • si!

  • impresionante

  • This music video for this song is awesome! It is one of the best I seen. I love Shepard Faireys art work in it.

  • what does andre the giant have to do with this?

  • hes the spokesperson for the Obey company

  • @ABRandPWD101 He wasn't the spokesperson. Fairey just began using that image. He later had to stop using Andre's name because of trademark issues.

  • Andre represents the MAN because he was the MAN.

  • MOOONEEEY! Money, Money; Money, Money, Money

5 starts no doubt. Fantastica vid. Well done. All shepard Fairey. Props ta him. His art is THE SHIT. Props ta Chuck D. Love it...

  • I went dancing on the stage at Roskilde Festival with these guys., I fucking love them!!

  • I wouldnt say that money is the root of all evil. It's not the root, just a tool... its not the money itself that makes us want to do something with it, its comercials and power that makes decisions for us. In one way, money is power and power can cloud peoples judgement... I think that money is as far from the source of the problem as anything, but its the forces behind the money that is the problem... GREAT song anyways :)

  • I agree with ratfinkskates. Money is simply a system. It is what that money represents in the eye of the beholder that causes he or she to act in an unfavorable way. The closest money could get to being truly evil is the fact that u can recieve ANY material through money. People woudnt bend over backwards for individual goods like milk of bread. Its the choice and flexibility that comes with money that make it so devlishly seductive.

  • your oul' doll would bend over, backwards or otherwise, for anything

  • who go from rags 2 riches and spend their riches on rags, similar bags with designer name tags!

  • CHUCK D!

  • money's just like points in a video game, it's incapable of evil, people make evil decisions that involve money is the problem

  • if you make everything require money to work, then sometimes we are foced to pursue evil to make ends meet ...

In essence, making money root evil thoughts into our psychology and causing us to act primal in order to retain financial balance.

In that case we can blame money as the cause to act evil so that we can survive in a money based world. The money printers know this as well, thats the creepy part..

  • correction: The money printers knew this first

  • evil thoughts are always in us, if we didn't have money we would get desperate for the food itself and raid farms etc. money's irrelevant. look at any common tool, it can be turned into a weapon just as quickly as it could be used to be helpful. money's just a credit system, it allows you to focus all your energy into one field and still benefit from all the fields. you can stack cans on shelves and produce a mattress. without money you'd be trying to trade eggs for everything.

  • right, my point is the people on the top try to focus us on trading useless paper so we may be put into a controlled society easier. Thus our deeds to gain income can also be regulated. And money can help amplify this, true that barbarians of old days raided for food and clothes. But now they would do it for money, and with that money becomes the root of evil instead of "eggs". My point is there may have been an agenda with the distribution of monetary units.

  • you could be on top if you worked to get there you realize, no one is controlling anyone. the root of evil is still the decision maker, and they can make more decisions based on other types of greed at any time. money is just useless paper, the value is defined by us. you have the option to not partake in society. you could live in the woods or something if you wanted. i know people who do.

  • as did I for a month, and i would love to live in nature again. My point is there is a group of individuals who use financial gain as a means to sway and tempt, teasing the evil characteristics of humans and causing them to do questionable things for money. It has been so since the establishment of the monetary system, and yes weak willed people are easy to control when desire is put into the picture. I'm not saying you are wrong, but you might be missing a detail or two.

  • then again i feel that your statements prove me correct.. but i wasnt looking to be correct or wrong like you were, i was just trying to connect two halves of one whole. i feel we are both correct. but if you want to dispute and prove wrong or whatever, im not here for that.

  • cool

  • maybe re-wording would help. In our society, money leads to power, power tends to corrupt, so one could say power is the root of all evil i.e. money is the root of all evil.

  • no you dont have that option here im from holland if thay find you staying in a frorest you get a fine.....

  • People talk about how there's no accounting for taste... So do us all a favour and shut the fock up.

  • Typical knobjockey hasn't anything better to do than have faux-intellectual discussions with people in similiar situations. As the man says, shut the fock up and just listen to the song. Suck my European dick the lot of you!!

  • wtf are you talking about lmao, i'll speak my mind all i want, im not interfering, you decided to read it, i could act immature and speak down to you as well and act like i know shit about your intelligence level but i dont, do i

  • I'm European... sure I'm rude and ignorant, but thats just because of people like you :) not my fault us euros show you the truth and you cant handle it.. ;)

  • lmao, you just labeled yourself, as if all europeans do the same thing. people like me? all i did was point out facts

  • great video but it almost goes to far but when your talking entertainment that kinda of a good thing

  • they must have had a graphic designer help them out, the video looks amazing. music's not bad either :P
