  • We need a tour with these guys and The Appleseed Cast... that would be BOSS!

  • is this the songs name? if not can someone tell me what it is?

  • EiTS , and all post-rock for that matter, is very much like drinking fine wine. At first, you don't really know if you like it, but it's intriguing so you keep sipping at i. After some time (and this is different for everyone) you start to notice all this complexity and subtlety. There's loads more palatable and more "interesting" music out there, but there's nothing with quite this level of emotional complexity outside of Post Rock.

  • Just listen to and admire beauty of music;-)

  • Phil Spector

  • This song reminds me of this one time, with this one person, on top of the mountain..or were we sailing in the seas? No mind. She had a name. Her name? She told me her name was LIFE. I watched her drown...or did she fall? I heard her muted whispers through the canyon; her screeching cries across the waves. Those things, those words pierced to the core shattering as an ice sickle on onyx. They melted inside me, I became LIFE, she was I and I was he.

    p.s. Lame ass crowd

  • In this song lives a shaman - true story. plur

  • the sound engineer could have done a better job in the beginning, but the good part starts in the middle and "flows into infinity". all in all they're just great and I'm looking forward to see them live to make up my mind if they are a liveband or not :)

  • good ass song!

  • Ah they have an ol Fender just like me...

  • Wall of sound torn off a better title!

  • This is the best way to get high off of music without using drugs ^-^

  • this is a cool ass song...this is the type of song that would sound great at a music festival in a major city's downtown park....

  • 7:48 tee hee they spelled silence wrong hee heee heeeee

  • this is a very interesting song...it sounds like something that would be played at a music fest in the a major city's city park, etc...

  • One of my faves...This would have been a sweet festival. You should have put the song name in the title..and subtext the festival name. Oh well. Nice upload.

  • @SirMachinae :: This is from the Wall Of Sound Festival

  • @silencemagazine LMAO owned

  • @SirMachinae i loled at your comment

  • @SirMachinae It says the right song name at the beginning of the video.

  • @SirMachinae Fail. Simply fail.

  • You know, I love this band just the way they are... but wouldnt it be cool to hear what they sound like with a singer?

  • @queenforlife96 It wouldn't suit at all. There's no room for vocals

  • @illsxofxmodernxman I completely agree, I'm just saying I'm interested in what it would sound like. I wouldnt change anything about this band.

  • @queenforlife96 I sometimes think about song without lyrics, that should fit their music nicely. A singer using the voice only as an instrument.

  • they really knock me out. wizards...true stars... i am a UFO. I dislike singing. I like electronics. so what kind of guitars amps and effects? if you tell me i will pray for you.

  • ahhhhh. I can not get sick of this band!

  • lol i thought it's called wall of sound.

  • LOVE

  • whats the green guitar Munaf is using thats a nice guitar. i tried looking it up and it seems he uses a Fender Stratocaster. which to me that guitar doesnt seem like one and looks to nice to be one looks very different. Lol

  • Music that's so alive all you can do is keep from skipping in forward just out of anticipation yet keep right where it is because it's so damn awesome.

  • I love it when bands look astonished by what they are doing, even when they've done in thousands of times. " WTF am I doing! It is AWESOME" like riding a wave you created.

  • i love how munaf and chris play.

  • que buen video mis respetos enserio que buen video

  • i am 85 years old and this is the best song i ever heard in my life. especially when it comes to toking some good ole marijuana

  • @flyman510 More like 22 years old.

  • This band could use some strobe lights. A lot of strobe lights.

  • Are you kidding me? Look at those motherfuckers, they piss charisma.

  • i wish this song never ends

  • a w e s o m e !

  • I said it before and I'll say it again...

I'd be like a big ol' sissy listening sobbing from the audience with my tissues.

  • i saw them in england, and i nearly bubbled during birth and death of a day, and your hand in mine.

    no shit..

  • Sweet.

I had the opportunity to see them and Eluvium last June. To say the least I'm glad I took it...

  • hey guys do you have any idea when their next album will come out??

it's the first time i watch these guys being filmed with different cameras on a same show, you know what i mean??

    there you have MTV!!

  • i just exploded into my pants

  • if by exploding into your pants, you mean into my mouth then I agree. they are amazing.

  • catastrophe and the cure

  • I've been inspired. This is music at its finest.

  • I cant stand it......the thought that I'm never gonna be able to see them play live.

There is no chance that they come here to Argentina......T_T

  • i dont think ill ever see them live either, so dont worry... u r not alone

i think if i did see them live, id probably explode into the sky

    hahahah

  • Que loco, Edu, encontrarte en un comentario de Facebook... Pero no te olvides, de que si Mahoma no va a la montaña, la montaña va ahcia Mahoma!

    Un abrazo.

  • fe de erratas: comentario de youtube...

  • they came to slovenia tvice alredy so....

  • if you really want to see them, then you just have to do it! even if its expansive, there is allways a way... be patient and keep your eyes open, your live will be nice to you, if you are nice to it ;)

  • semen just came out of my ears

  • lmfao

  • Absolutely brilliant. these guys never fail to amaze me. I love some of the different ideas and timbres they brought in after "The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place". I can particularly hear it on songs like "So Long, Lonesome" where there's piano, but even some of the musical ideas are different, but still fantastic and truly Explosions.

  • SEEING THIS TONIGHT!

  • i saw them on friday. just amazing

  • EITS is amazing. They don't need singers or vocalists, their music speaks for itself.

    Truly Moving

  • i agree.

    their music says it all...

like in "your hand in mine" especially to me...

  • i could almost cry when i saw them live ,amazing sight to behold.

  • amazing

  • i dont like the speeded up tempo and the drums compared to the studio version, nevertheless this is one of the best songs ive heard in my life

  • finally a respectful crowd!

  • Eits don't need vocals , this music is perfect without , words can only ruin a song like this , eits ' music is pure n beautiful and let me open my mind , without having the need to understand the exact message of the songs

  • Wheres the vid when he breaks the strap of his guitar?

  • That deserved a bigger clap than it got, WTF

  • seriously one of the best things i have ever heard in my life.

  • this song is catastrophe and the cure not wall of sound

  • Read info on the right side.

  • my bad

  • correct. they are at the wall of sound festival in Ft. Worth.

  • On top of formulating beautiful compositions of music, the passion they enfuse their music with enhances it's power so much.

  • Good Music - WoW :-)

  • great video. and a great song to match

    seing these in september!

    check out my video!

  • Munaf looks liek a freaking ape when he does that thing when he strums haha.

  • I like them more because of the no singing part.

  • Lol, not to bash on EITS and don't get me wrong they are a fantastic band but the thing is, the reason why they don't have a singer is because they can't sing! Oh no... J/K :) But EITS is a great band to have. always welcome.

  • Actually, Michael James has a great singing voice. They had planned on him being the singer, but after several initial band practices it was apparent to them that EITS would exist on an instrumental foundation.

  • Even more cool!! :)

  • If you'd like to hear what they might sound like with a vocalist, check out Colour Revolt. Now, I'm not saying they're identical, but when I first heard them, I think I liked them for the same reasons I like Explosions.

  • @GalaxySmith18 they don't need to sing to put emotions in their songs ;)

  • @GalaxySmith18 No. They don't have a singer, because they make instrumental music?

  • óóóórrramatyám

  • he headbangs funny lol

  • i love the drums in this band

  • i love the band in this band

  • ha agreed

  • beautiful

  • that dude looks weird when plays guitar

    this song is awesome tho

it makes me think about god.............trippy

  • I know right....

  • this song makes me think of the absence of god

  • god doesn't exist

  • Evil is proof of god evil is proof of satan maybe its all in our heads and the world is just as sublimental and silent as a rock but were only temporary beings and perhaps if you believe in some sort of spirituality you will actually have an afterlife

  • evil is proof of satan not god...Get it straight.

  • if there is evil there is good, if theres a satan there must be a god

  • evil is created by all religion. Seriously do not force your religious beliefs on people over the internet its okay to have a faith but people do not want to know it.

  • dam right, but y do u have to say that in amusic video that has nothin to do with religion it so random

  • Comment removed

  • Evil is nothing more than something created by humans, it does not prove the existence of anything. Most of the things done by animals would be considered evil by human standards, but it is just survival.

  • yes there is, A cat sometimes kills for the thrill of killing, doesnt even eat their prey after.

  • Chimpanzees have been documented in committing actions that ultimately constitute genocide against "others" outside or inside their groups - an often extremely violent creature.

  • Humans do...

  • That's what I meant. Other than humans. Maybe chimps do, I dunno.

  • wsaaaaap

  • this is a really well made video. good job

  • thats not a bass its a baritone jaguar

  • This is such a nice song, and I try to enjoy it but it always lulls me into a sleepy state and I have actually dosed off a couple times listening to it before. Great song.

  • all of their songs put me to sleep

  • look fof austin tv is a good band same gender as ex

  • jeez people in the front row are smoking up a storm.

Maybe I'm dumb but who is playing bass? I saw 3 guitars and heard but didn't see a bass.

  • Why is a Bass Guitar, Keyboards, or Vocals (for that matter) a pre-requisite to a band?

  • oh it isn't, I just hear a bass so I'm wondering where it's at.

  • No it didn't. I'm so glad there are youtube commenters who can open my eyes to the wide world of music instead of just answering reasonable questions. Oh how I have lived under a rock!

  • yeah, you should be thankful ;)

  • Oh, Youtube.

  • nah michael has his ibanez talman plugged into an Ampeg SVT bass head and cab. that's why it sounds like a bass.

  • The bass is the left one with the beard...

his neck of the bass is longer he playes just one string at a time and his fingers are allways just on one or 2 strings...

I play bass and i think that is 100% the bass just with 6 strings... ive some 6 strings =]

  • as wilson wrote, that is NOT a bass, It's a baritone. :)

  • This is the 1st explosions in the sky song i've ever heard and i've been hooked ever since. If they ever broke up id actually have to detox

  • You guys should just be lucky that you get to see bands like Explosions, we never get any of the good bands in South Africa.

  • funny thing is that this festival was pretty much a dud before explosions and ghost land went on. They were the only bands worth going to see that year with the exception of the sword, lymphic system, and the time out drawer. It didn't seem like a proffesional sound crew came until explosions went on. So i guess this quality video makes sense.

PS. Any idea what kind of guitar the blue one is?

  • ibanez talman

  • Ibanez Talman. It's pretty sweet.

  • this song makes me ponder...

  • Munaf is god

  • It kind of does, but irregardless you can't attribute much sound to a single band. Thats why there are styles of music. Otherwise bands would be classified by the people who did it first...and that just would suck no? and btw EITS kicks ass.

  • I hate when people compare any band with a relatively clean lead guitar tone to U2.

  • I saw them three nights in a row in March in SF. Night two they played The Only Moment, Your Hand in Mine (my favorite song of all time), AND First Breath ALL IN ONE FUCKING NIGHT. I was crying. Also The Birth and Death was played, among a few others. It blew me away. All hail Explosions in the Sky.

  • nothing can compare to them live

    this videos are just methadone

  • SIR, that was stupid.

  • fav :)

  • They are fanatstic! Like an Explosion in the Sky;)

  • i love EITs. but i hate it when the people cheer in the middle lol, its like they dont know when they actually finish or it they are all impatience or something...what do you guys think about that? just curious.

  • lol yeah i hate that to. I saw them live back in april and it was funny cause you could totally tell all the people that had never heard and EITS before.

  • oh man

there was only one guy at a show i went to screaming, and he was right behind my ear.

    shit was pissing me off

  • wooooaaa..

    maestros!!!

  • catastrophe and the cure

  • beautiful video. awesome sound and an amazing performance

  • wow i cant believe dats live its like perfect!!!!!! WOW

  • uh... try everything. but seriously. first breath after coma, the moon is down, greet death, yazmin the light, a song for our fathers...so many try out my explosions in the sky starters kit

  • dangg so many that are way better

birth and death of the day

    first breath after coma

THE ONLY MOMENT WE WERE ALONE!

  • birth and death of a day..the begining of that song is fuckin perfect...and memorial....when i saw them play that life i fuckin lost it the climax in that song is so good and they fuckin rock it live

  • i absolutely love the moment at 3:45 its perfect

  • Wow, for such an amazing performance, the crowd is really out of it.

  • oh btw, EITS's performance was truly amazing, it was my first time seeing them and it was awesome...i was right there in the front with my arms on the stage. i got to chat with munaf for a couple of mins after the show

  • and I have always wondered how do they menage to have such amazing drum parts with just one drummer.. ;-)

  • that could totally be done with one person, he just accents whats already there. Most eits drumming is one guy.. and its great, because you know the guy has so much more he could technically do, but he plays just what needs to be played. i love it. no matter how redundant, i love it. 8 thumbs up!

  • Best live footage I've yet to see of EitS. Really wanted to hit the 2007 Wall of Sound fest. Heard it wasn't as successful as promoters had hoped, but the crowd looks huge? At least bigger than the Ridglea could've held?

    NEway, Imagine Swirled Peas - (~);}

  • ya the crowd only got that huge like late into the night...during the daytime there werent that many ppl for the other bands, though the bands were amazing, except for OM...they ruined the rest of the night and made EITS's set go from an hour to 20 minutes becuz OM wouldnt get off the stage and Ft. Worth has a curfew so they HAD to close down

  • It´s fuckin´amazing!

  • just amazing

  • finally a catastrophe and the cure vid where munaf appears playing the extra snare theres another version that finish before that...

saw them playing in mexico and they were awesome =D

  • Saw this performed at the Bowery Ballroom last year. Not only did Munaf play the extra snare but two other guys came on stage playing a snare each one of the guys was from the band Mono. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

  • Does anyone have tabs for this?

  • I saw this piece peformed on Austin City Limits last night- it is so incredibly touching and gorgeous. Thank you!

  • I loved the transition that Munaf played leading into the song.

  • Magnificient!
