My god..... Has it really been 30 years??? Outstanding example of what talented Canadians were doing in the early New Wave days..... Canucks ruled the New Wave Airwaves!! Long live CFNY!!!
They were just kids back then with lots of talent, Love this tune, Gords voice and those keyboards go so well together, gotta hear the extended version of this, cant get enough.
I didnt know she was in the band.. wow I was fricken 14 when I think I first saw this... and if anyone know about the times back then if you saw anything like this ! ! ! it was NUTZ ! ! ! really... I saw this before gary numan and I think it prepared me for the cocteau twins and bands like this sounds the vocals sound like alot of new wave singers back then.
yes. In and around Toronto, for the most part. Their website is listed in the upper right, so you can check concert dates there.
Gord's in a cover band called "The Lost Boys" too - just saw them totally by fluke, at a private event in Ottawa. He still sounds the same and Nova Heart sounds better than ever!
Wow, it has so much rythm! I never heard that side of the song. I say this because a more recent band of gothic/ambient/rock music made a remake much quieter than this original one. If you wish to hear it, the band's called Johnny Hollow, song has the same title, it's as much worth it than the original :)
Well I took a listen to the Johnny Hollow version of Nova Heart. Nice mellow Low Key version. Nice to see a new band covering a Spoons song. "Much worth it than the original" though? If you mean their version is better, well I'd have to disagree. Some songs can't be bettered with cover versions. Perhaps for you it is if the Johnny Hollow version was the first you heard of this song. Their version sounds good though. I could see it in Donnie Darko Part 2
Guilty there, it was the first version I heard of the song. But truthfully, each time I try to replay Johnny Hollow's version in my head, the Spoons' version comes up! X3 oh well I'm glad you listened to the new one though :)

Gordon Deppe is now the programmer for cbc's gallaxie radio 80's station. all 80's, no comericals, new wave from 7-9pm Monday-Sunday all all day Saturdays. excellent!
First New Wave Blitz band I saw, thanks for playing highschool. I soon was sneaking out at 12am & bunking at the Voodoo club and well like they say...the rest she's a history. LOL! Hope you all got through the 80's well.
