This movie to me was... Sad because there are actual people that think people that are a bit different are "Freaks", I find them adorable and would've loved to have a chance to hug them :)
@Shrimpy253 How are these so-called "freaks" considered "abominations in YOUR EYES. They're a helluva lot more human than you are, goddamn Nazi/religious freak.
My teacher mentioned this masterpiece in our class while discussing our project on the Hunger Artist. I was so moved by this scene...these children were so wonderful. I would have played with them, to be honest. They're not monsters, as that fat bastard so rudely thought. Hats off to Mr. Browning for such an inspiring movie.
@RememberingAzareth Johnny eck said todd browning was a prince among men some of the freaks went hollywood and started wearing sunglasses when last hear from johnny was living in baltimore and said he liked to get a baseball bat and go after that kid that makes his life so miserable
@elenavlada Really? I heard that one was about at the intelligence level of a toddler and the other was like a five-year-old... but one really acts pretty well when she's cowering against the 'mother', I thought.
I loved the look on Johnny's face at 2:02. It conveys so many emotions--anger, determination, a willing to stand up for all the other performers. This is a classic film and I love how it portrays the "different" so sensitively and compassionately, especially for in the '30s. Bravo, Tod Browning.
@kbailey1995 it isn't creepy at all, these people are people just like any of us, why on earth would they be frightening? Just because life has been particularly unfair to them? You need to change your thinking and realize these people are no different than you or me

That's the most fake-looking 'frolicking' I've ever seen. But I guess it's ok since they weren't professional actors, LOL!
