dizzle229, Im Australian and I know all about Jack Thompson, I've seen youtube vids on JT and Attorney general Michael Atkinson is the equivalent of JT. He's a self righteous asshole in South Australia using his christian values to fuck the entire country over with no logical facts to backup his claims. Yep, that's Australian politics, run by middleage neanderthals thinking that the best way to protect kids is to punish adults. Go figure.

Jack Thompson is a lawyer who tried to make money by suing game companies like Rockstar, making false accusations and demanding money.

Michael Atkinson is the attorney-General and I assume one of the main reasons why Australia doesn't have a "R: M" rating for games that are meant for mature audiences, nor a "18+" rating we have. Therefore most of those games are not released in Australia.

So I don't really see the resemblance.

@taistelutomaatti, I dont know Jack Thompson 100%, only what I've seen on Youtube and he has as much dislike to violent video games as Michael Atkinson does. So you could say they are quite similar in that respect despite their occupation.

Seriously the reason that smokes and grog aren't banned is because we have a right to choose what we do, it comes with being a citizen of a free country..... Plus most games today are a medium to convey stories, so by his logic we should ban some of a greatest movies of all time...

No wonder Mr Atkinson wont let me have an R18+ or an X18+. I'm thankful we have the MA15+. I don't agree with his view on this at all, but when I'm stuck with the stereo-type of gamers who carry on like a 5 year old's who's mum did not buy them a lolly at the shop. Maybe its not that he's ill informed all he sees is 5 year old's crying how can he justify an R rating as we are. check out "WoW Subscription Cancel FAIL Crybaby Owned" This is likely how he sees us and it more common than you'd like.

Also by talking maturely about the topic,

like stating how games like GTA IV and Fallout 3 that were rated 18 in the UK being given an MA15+ in Australia is misleading to Australian parents, and how an R18+ rating in Australia for videogames would help to fix that, that would be more important to know for parents.

Also noting about the X18+ rating that would be banned anyway so there will never be any rape in Videogames. But only use that if Mr Atkinson talks about the Rapelay example.

But you need to remember one important thing.

You will also be shown to parents who might have been more likely mislead by Michael Atkinson and having you shout like that with allot of emotion will scare more parents and lead people to believe that gamers are angry and hostile because of the games they play.

So I think that if you or I or anyone of us gamers were on TV, we have to know how to talk maturely. Even if he doesn't
