  • blanchetts voice seems too deep for an elf queen. and i just have to get this off my chest...the book is 10 times better than the movie. jackson succeeds every now and then to convey the books sense of adventure but its usually down to either very good acting or great cgi he fails to get the best out of inexperienced actors eg elijah wood and liv tyler who's limitations are exposed by great acting of others eg gandalf, theoden, gollum, wormtongue. could easily have been much a much better film.

  • Everybody is a critic. Why don't you make a better movie if yoyu're so smart.

If you don't like the movies don't watch them and stick to the books.

  • Why couldn't galadriel just kill the mordor army, shes just as strong as sauron

  • yes she is as strong as him but jst think.... lothlorien was attacked from dol guldur and moria(sometimes) and she couldnt protect lothlorien if she wouldnt be there...

  • ilove her voice &* just everything

    plus she evil!

  • Not evil-she chose to walk away from bad choices, away from cruelty and despair.

  • Wonderful clip. Thanks.

(By the way, to you debaters, it's ridiculous to debate over Fantasy and Science Fiction themes as though there were some real basis for it. It's FICTION for Christ's sake! And not real in the least!)

  • She should have took the ring and left a dead hobbit face down in the dust lol.

  • I love Galadriel. My fave. Cate Blanchett rules.

  • Damn I hate the voice FX.

  • i love the sound of her voice...except when she goes crazy

  • This is my most all time favorite movie. I bought extended directors cut and Lord Of The rings Complete Recordings soundtrack. Best music of all time as well! Big fan.

  • "I do not deny that my heart has greatly desired this. In place of the Dark Lord, you would have a Queen, not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Dawn. Treacherous as the Sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me and despair!" Modern computer animations can certainly increase movie making as shown here; its stunning how Galadriels transformation to that superior form of herself has been visualized! Shame, that many movies are ruined by the overuse.

  • she is stronger then sauron

  • yes she is

  • no she isn't. Definetly, with the ring she would be, yes, but Sauron with the ring would overcome anyone left in middle earth. Those who used to be strong enough to take up the battle are dead, have left, or have diminished in strength. And remember that Sauron does not get stonger than he was originally when wearing the ring, he is just weaker when not.

  • she has more power in lorien

  • good point, but that is mostly because of the ring she is wearing. If Sauron retrieved the one ring, she would most probably lose that power.

  • yes but still galadriel could be strong enough to fight against him ... maybe she couldnt win the battle but... i dont know... its just i cant see her beeing defeated in battle against sauron.... shes more powerful than she seems to be...

  • GALADRIEL ROCKS !!!!!!!

  • love and despair at the same time. wow thats some fucked up shit. Sounds like a bad marriage.

  • This movie enhances the beauty of the english language. I'm still practising my english and this movie encourages me to practise more. It makes it look like a legendary lost language.

  • youre right:))

  • what is so special about Galadriel?

  • she was special because she was a powerful witch daughter of some important elves (Fanarfin) and she could defeat Sauron during the third age by her own...

  • All you can say is: Wow!

    Amazing scene, so intense.

  • The best character in "the lord of the rings" is Galadriel. Great !

  • all shall love me and dispair

  • hey

    is this the extended version?

  • what a terrible being galadriel would have become had she took the ring!

  • still, be better then if gandalf had the ring, even so more saruman, and VERY MUCH MORE sauron. at least she would have some mercy. too bad if it was given old bombadil it would be useless too him.

  • Galadriel was one of the most powerful beings in Middle Earth: Gandulf could not even pick it up, and neither can she, without Sauron

    seizing her.

  • yes she was the most powerful being in middle earth during the third age... i'd love to see galadriel having the one ring and beng a goddes :X

  • Plumpy: Go play Battle for Middle Earth 2. :P

  • :))

  • but Gandalf was a Maia like Sauron, he was stronger than Galadriel being she only an Elf, i think

  • i dont think he was powerful than galadriel ... maybe equal... nut remember sauron was powerful than gandalf and galadriel during the third age was the strongest leader on middle earth after the death of gil galad i think... so during the third age she was more powerful... this is y way of thinking..:D

  • youre so retarded :)):)):))=))=))

  • COME ON FRODO GET OUT OF YOUR COMA!!!!

Honestly...he's stoned or something, I swear. They probably made Elijah Wood react to a green screen or something, but come on I could do better than that!

  • youre right he's to calm... galadriel is screaming as hard as she can and frodo is just watching her bored

  • А Я БЫ ВЗЯЛА КОЛЕЧКО11

    АДИН АДИН АД

  • Gandalf, when he was grey, would not even touch the ring. He knew he was not strong enough to resist. Even after defeating his own personal demon (the Balrog) and becoming white he would not pass the test. Frodo trusted her and she did pass.

  • what a disaster if she got that ring ...she telling him that stuff to make him offer it up ..she was very much tempted by it...she was no angel. But she prevailed in the end but geez all shall love me and despair...sounds like my former boss..she made act like they liked her and really didnt and was completel miserable under tyranny. power hungry woman in power yikes. lol

  • youre right

  • frodo's lack of reaction gets me every time.

  • Jackson screwed up the movie in a couple of places, later part of Battle of Pleanor fields, but he nailed this scene and the charge of the riders of Rohirmm

  • When Galadriel got to the, "All shall love me and despair.", part I realized that I dated her avatar in collage.

  • i get chills every time Galadriel (the magnificent Cate Blanchett) says, "I know what it is you saw, for it is also in my mind."

And my heart breaks a little bit every time she says, "I have passed the test. I shall diminish and go into the West. And remain Galadriel."

~instead of becoming the Dark Queen~

She was tempted by her greatest temptation and did not give in. "All shall love me and despair."

Yes, to be a ring-bearer is to be alone.

It's the hardest thing in the world.

  • If I ever have a ship I think I shall name it The Grayhavens. Yes. I shall.

  • Tis the season to Break out LOTR! The fall gives way to winter.

  • if she had the ring all middle earth would be ruled by her ...... i'd like to see her fighting with sauron...

  • I know that would be a kick ass fight. She'd be more pwerful than the White Withc of Narnia.

  • Stronger than the foundations of the Earth!!!

  • I think even drawfs are corruptible...take their love of ores and creating things. I'd say the one ring would be the ultimate corruption but that is just me

  • the dwarves have been corrupted by their greed.

"They delved to greedily and too deeply."

    Got the Balrog out.

  • oh that's right!!! And to think I've just got through watching the extended versions! props to ya Pleiades

  • lol, thanks. I clicked on your ID to see who you were, and I thought you might appreciate this, "Your love of the halfling's leaf has clearly slowed your mind." ;)

  • Galadriel, as discovered only in the third movie (but earlier in the book), is a Ring Bearer herself. She was the bearer of Nenya, the Water Ring and as such she had to leave for the West after the War. As matter of fact she is allowed to go West only because she passed the test. In a precedent Era she and her husband, Celeborn, rebelled against the Gods and were exiled in Middle Earth. In Tolkien symbology she is a close character to Mary Magdalene.

  • really ..ohh yea so she was part of that group of elves wow

  • Galadriel is gorgeous :))

  • ppls says that galadriel goes nuts but have u seen when bilbo wants to hold the ring but frodo does not allow him thats something u can call crazy go nuts about the ring.

  • wuts she mean by "passing the test" and she'll go into the west and remain galadriel?

  • it meens like she was able to reject the ring and that will leav midle-earth and travell to valinor and remain Galadriel is ment that she wont take the ring and be an new darklord or in her case a darkquen

  • id like to see har as a darkqueen >:)>:) :))

  • Galadriel is so cute but wise. And Cate Blanchett played her so brilliantly. To me Galadriel is a lot more sexier than Arwen.

  • what a beautiful woman

  • "in place of a dark lord you will have a queen! not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! treacherous as the sea! stronger than the foundations of the earth! all shall love me and despair!!! ... I passed the test."

    frodo: O_O orly??

  • And yes they are using these movies in school, it's called how to deconstruct a movie and LOTR is complex enough to be able to do that with more than just a little detail.

  • completely degenerated into evil with the speech she gave, forgive me if im wrong but that speech was obviously something she'd seen that would have come about with the ring in her possession. It's all well and good to say 'oh but she would have been able to control it, her rule would have been great', but all it would have been was another creature seduced by power. Remember, none of Tolkiens characters began as evil, not even Sauron or Melkor.

  • i was reading some of the earlier comments and it annoyed me when a couple of people thought that there was a chance that Galadriel wouldnt be corrupted by the ring. Though i may not have read through all the history of Middle Earth, even i can see this as ridiculous. To begin with one of the major themes of Tolkein is the seductive nature of power and it is stressed that no one but Sauron can properly control the ring. In addition to this Galadriel herself practically tells us she would be

  • This scence scares me a little !

  • I love how everyone goes nuts when they are around the ring.

  • Lol, me too

  • am she goes fucking nuts at 2;10. loL!

  • sorry i mean,

and she goes fucking nuts at 2;10 lol. proly the worste case of all the characters in their reaction to the ring lol

  • exept for Gimmly, because he's a dwarf and Drarfs are incoruptuble.

  • I want to suck her toes

  • omg.... O_o

  • you know what, she looks so hot in all her corsety evilness, that if the lotr was real i would give her the ring anyways! ^_^

  • "All shall love me and DESPAIR!" love that line :)

  • I love this scene! :D Galadriel is wonderful!

  • Wow, when she turns evil, she reminds me of my girlfriend when I piss her off! LOL

  • When she's evil she reminds me of the Whitew Witch in Narnia.

  • When I saw this it really freaked me out. She went bonkers.

  • Galadriel could not of used the one ring, because according to Aragon at Rivindale, "the one ring answers to Sauron alone, it has no other master".

  • it made me laugh when she went back to normal :D

  • shut up u fat bitch........

  • !!!TO marymar2394!!!

and so what? i don't know about the others but i think the real world is boring. all you see is about money in the real world. and i need some changes and because of that i like to disguss with other people about this to get away from the normal boring day

  • Are WE, as the Human race as a whole real?

  • i'm looking at this text comments and this coments about the maya and galadriel and sauron are looking like an intens debate in the parliament :))

  • Sauron was a migthy maia yess but there are like some more powerful one of them was Eönwe Manwes BannerHolder stronger in battle then any one in Arda if you dont belive me it says i Silmarilion and antoher maia wich name i cant rember the one that drives the waggon of the sun Melkor tried to bring her over to his side but he faled cous the heat and fiercnes in her scared him away xD :)

  • ok but anyway galadriel and sauron were really powerful.......

  • This is my favorite scene.

All shall love me and despair.

  • 'he will try to take the ring" who is she talking about?

someone reply to me, thanks. a lot.

  • im pretty sure it's boromir

  • one of my favorite scenes in the movie

  • creepy scene!

  • she looked like the alien from stargate when she got all upset lol

  • My Queen.

  • WOW She was the most powerful being on earth.

but imagen what would hapen if she had the One Ring........she could became more terrible than Saron itself!!! srry for the bad spelling :D:D:D

  • Elvish dictatorship, what else? :-D

  • @plumpy1995

i don't think that she would be more powerfull that Sauron, bescause he is one of the greatest Maiar and she is "just" an Elf..

  • ok...he was one of the maya but she was the daughter of Finarfin and he killed Morgoth. He was the captain of the Noldor of Aman in the decisive War of Wrath against Morgoth. And remeber that sauron was JUST Morgoth's servant!!!

Lothlorien has suffered several attacks from Dol Guldur. The Elves were saved by the power and might of Galadriel. Her ring , Nenya has even stopped the time in Lorien and protected the land from the orcs. she was wielding an enourmous power!

  • Sauron was one of the mightiest (perhaps the mightiest) of the Maiar, ...and saying Sauron was JUST Morgoth servant is the same as saying that Gandalf was JUST the messenger of the Valar...

and he was not JUST a servant of Morgoth:

"Sauron was the most feared of Morgoth's servants"

I still think that Sauron was the Most Powerfull Person on Midle Earth at the time of the War of the Ring..

  • ok ok ok lets both agree that sauron and galadriel were the most powerfull beings on that earth.just the valaar were more powerful..and thats it! :D:D ;)

  • yes that's the solution xD

  • its deficult to say whos the most powerfull. Galadriel is powerfull but i don't think she can resist not to use the ring longer than frodo did. Sauron is Very powerfull, but not powerfull enough to defeat silly unmortal men. Frodo was all so powerfull because he could resist to use the ring in Many month, i do not think Gandalf could hav do that in a week. But in pure power i think sauron is the Strongest (sorry for my bad english)

  • Hate to have to geek out here, but finarfin did not kill Morgoth. Morgoth wasn't overthrown until the valar personally intervended at the end of the 1st age. Even then he wasn't killed but thrown into the void.

  • Finarfin did not kill Morgoth. Finarfin remains in Valinor. Fingolfin his brother fought Morgoth to a standstill in single combat but didn't kill him either. The death of a Vala is a meaningless concept: Morgoth was cast out of the world and remains in the void, waiting.

  • In place of a dark lord you would have a queen. Not dark, but beautiful and terrbible as the dawn. Treacherous as the sea, stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair.

  • am i the only one who thinks that this speech by galadriel is kinda... hot? :P

  • 2:04 Galadriel casts FEAR!

  • i love this show

  • Wow it was amazeing how that ring corrupts people. if you all really pay attention she really wanted it but wasnt direct about about...she came to him in the middle of the night like some type of booty call. lol and started showing him shit to make him scared and knew he was stress out already and tired. She knew exactly what she was doin very cunning. But thank goodness she had a strong will power cus whew it may have been even worse dealing with her conceited ass.Anybody ever have female boss.

  • i luv dis sene

  • whoa what happened?

  • all ourneymen need respite and one good companion. i think this scene also epicts that women prefer their good looks.

  • what are the words to invoke the phial´s light?

  • Aiya Earendil Elenion acalima!!

  • wtf

  • My favorite scene from movies.

  • The One Ring tempts and deceives, it always seeks to corrupt and destroy whoever possesses it. Classic scene from the Trilogy, Jackson GETS Lord of the Rings. What a hottie too! lol

  • Damn hot and evil! at the same time! lol this will be great for my Roleplay.

  • Ispired in the paintings from the virgin mary from the 15th century

  • Ayi!!! What happened to her?

  • The ring is tempting her. She is a Noldor of great power in her own right. You are seeing her revealed.

  • i've the same question....

  • And beware! "The Simalrillion" is not an easy book to read. Give yourself plenty of time to read it, and don't rush through, because you won't understand what's going on. I'm a very fast reader, but I really had to take my time with "The Silmarillion". But it's definitely worth it. :)

  • It's a wonderful scene of the Lord of the Rings. I like it very much.... very good video

  • A! Elbereth Gilthoniel!

    Silivren penna míriel

    o menel aglar elenath,

    Gilthoniel, A! Elbereth!

  • I love the speech she gives when she's tempted by the ring.

'All shall love me and despair...' That line alone is so powerful.

  • For sure! That and Gandalf's version of the Black Speech are pretty kick @ss!

  • if you haven't read the silmarillion. Galadriel graduates from cool to fucking awesome :P

  • so that's explain why she got so ugly and crazy?¿?

  • lol Frodo's scared shitless.

  • Frodo decided to go to Mordor alone because of Galadriel said to him that to bear a ring of power is to be alone.

  • I have all of the books, I read The Hobbit first, now I'm reading The Silmarillion, and then I plan on FOTR, TT, ROTK.

  • silmarion, hobbit then lotr

  • can anyone tell in which order to read the j r r tolkien's book. the hobbit, lord of the ring 1-3, silimarillion?

  • Although chronologically its Silm, Hobbit, LotR, I would read the Hobbit first, then Lord of the Rings and then Silmarillion if you really liked LotR.

  • Essa parte é uma das que eu mais gosto no filme. Efeitos de primeira.

  • JRR Tolkien is a genius of writing something so powerful long time ago, and once it is made into a movie, it is spectacular!

Cate Blanchett is perfect for the role of Galadriel. Her elegance and majesty is incomparable.

  • i love this video when galadriel said :"İn place of a Dark Lord, you would have a Queen not dark but beautiful, and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth!

All shall love me and despair" is love this part :))

  • i wish that she had gotten the ring, imagen..

  • Galadriel

İn place of a Dark Lord, you would have a Queen not dark but beautiful, and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth!

All shall love me and despair.

  • "To bear a ring of power is to be alone" is yet another of my favourites in the trilogy. Those words have made me cry- the pain of burden and lonelyness, the knowledge to alone carry on with something beyond imagination..

"If you don't find a way, no one will"

  • Do you know Why Frodo can speak mentally to Galadriel?????

    ....

    ....

    ....

    I'm waiting....

Yes, Because Frodo has the one ring!!!!!!!!!

When Frodo was in Rivendel even hasn´t enought power, but in Lorien he does it.

The time the Elfes is over, there aren't enough ships to go to Valinor. Sauron will be the winner????

  • Not Frodo speaks to Galadriel, she speaks to him; it's one of her powers. Read the book and you will understand!

  • Yes, I read the book.

  • Every time i see this particular place it gives me the chills. Powerful and perfect.

In place of a dark lord you would have a queen

not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn.

    Treacherous as the sea

stronger than the foundations of the earth.

All shall love me and despair!

  • I remember the fist time I saw this in theatres it woke my ass up because I was dosing off. lol. Cate Blanchett has the most powerful speaking voice of any actress. Which is why she's so perfect for a part like this or Queen Elizabeth. lol.

  • Galadriel is my favorite character. Pity they didn't give her as big a role in the movies as the books. My favorite scene from the movies.

  • its my best

  • Just Amazing ..

  • I'm so glad I found this clip, among all the "musical tribute" dreck. For Galadriel's test is, I think, THE most powerful and significant scene in the entire trilogy.

  • I agree finding this scene is hard which is sad cause you are correcdt it is among the trilogy's best.

  • And remain galadriel.. I am so amazed how they could make everything so powerfull and magical like they did. Amazing!

  • If she or Saruman had this ring, then the story could have very amazing again!I love it.

  • sick

  • You offer it to me freely? I do not deny that my heart has greatly desired this. In place of a Dark Lord you would have a Queen. Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the Morning. Treacherous as the Sea. Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair. ... I pass the test. I will diminish, and go into the West, and remain Galadriel.

  • as the dawn not the morning

  • gosh this scene creeped me out. luckily, my teacher explained most of the complicated history to us before we watched these movies. i looove this trilogy.

  • Your teacher, good god they aren't using these movies in a class are they, hopefully it was graphics art or cinema class

  • She is a very beautiful actress. and they were lucky to have her talented acting, especially for this creepy scene.

  • There when you read you´ll truly understand the nature and history of the hobbits, who is Gladriel and who are the three Elven Lords who were given the rings of power, who Gandalf is, who Aragorn is and his descendants and most of all Sauron. What happened before? Before he forged the rings of power. Wh
