@dellb73 One could argue that Diana was chosen because she was well regarded NY stage actress who added a touch of class to the proceedings. Interracial pairings were beginning to become more visible on screen. Rosiland Cash & Charlton Heston in Omega Man were one couple at the time. Not sure of any other 'darker' actresses of the era who could pull off this role with the combination of intelligence and sensuality that Diana has. If she had lived, she would have been THE greatest actress.
Wow!!! This T.V. Show The Doctors' Wives was ahead of its time in 1971 to show an interracial couple. Diana Sands and Richard Crenna look good together and they have great chemistry. I feel their connection. . She's pretty and sexy and he's so virile and handsome. Superb acting..Great Scene. Love it! Thanx for sharing.
Doctor's Wives was a feature film from 1971. Diana was a Movie Star by this point. But do track down her episode of the Outer Limits.
There are few celluloid memories of Ms. Sands but what is there is....excellent. I do believe that if Diana had lived to play CLAUDINE instead of Diahann Carroll, SHE would have won the Oscar! And she probably would have gave a speech that would make our heads spin.
She was a very beautiful woman and obviously a GREAT actress.
