Its so easy for some people to "rudely" criticize this music. For those of you that do find the need to do so, I have to ask, what have you composed lately? You can offer criticism without being rude about it.
@FastEddieNelsonThanks for your reply. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person that is bothered by this. I feel the need to say something because if we don't, then the behavior becomes the "norm" and totally accepted. I for one, don't want to accept it. What ever happened to showing others respect? I'm one very small voice, but a persistent one.
If you don't understand it you gotta listen to mooooooooreeeee music, then come back knowing all kinds of music and you ll float into this amazing world where music is like a book to read and it captures every brain cell, your soul, and your ears.
Some people just want to hear a reggea song and relaxe..
this is more like art. creating emotions, featured by demanding guitar riffs.
Does anyone know the story behind that small peice of this album ending up in the exorcist?, why would Mike Oldfield let that be included in the movie?
These days the word "epic" is overused but starting at 8:48 you get to hear what epic really means. I love that buildup into the "caveman" section of the song.
When I owned the cassette tape of this album I liked side one, but I don;t think I ever sat through side two more than because IT SUCKS. It seems like bits are haphazardly stitched togehter---side one had the feel as well, but it flowed a little more smoothly. Just dull.
@Frobe1357 that part you mention is meant to be Piltdown Man talking & some people say it's the Devil talking. I first heard this album as a child many many years ago it's one album I'll never forget & I'm a long haired tattooed heavy metal fan from way back but I love this album.
@anzacproud actually I found out that his producer wanted him to release a single with lyrics and he argued with him and then he got drunk, shouted "lyrics I'll give you lyrics!!!) and whent into the studio and just made caveman like grunts. and yeah I'm a bit of a metal fan myself, metalheads tend to have quite a versatile taste in music
@Aqene1000 Well if memory serves me well then I think I must of first got into it around '94-'95. By then it was a classic to those who knew it, & for me soon after ^_^
merci pour ce grand moment de musique !!

A nice masterpiece! By the way, the quiet part at 16:30 sounds like a folk-ish version of Maggot Brain, at least to me.
