Proenza may have been a fine forecaster but he was NOT a tropical forecaster. Obviously he was no manager either. On the other side of the coin I do NOT think what James Franklin and Lixion Avila did(whining on national tv about not liking Proenza) was right either. Seeing 2 scientists acting like that made me sick
I know that Proenza is not the Director of the Hurricane Center anymore, but I don't think he totally lost his job with NOAA as a tenured government employee. He'll probably be re-assigned to a less high-profile position.
They all hated him. They said he was demanding, difficult to work with, and verbally abusive to his staff. He also made public comments that angered his staff.
These NOAA clowns aren't THE HURRICANE HUNTERS. The Hurricane Hunters fly WC-130J's out of Biloxi AFB, MS.

Wow, Proenza sounds so political. I'm sad the guy lost his job, but I think he needed to go. Politics and science do not mix.

Is he a part of the Bush incompetents pushing a political agenda at our expense?

National Hurricane Center director Bill Proenza has left his position after staff signed a petition calling for his ouster. WHY?
