Alina Pogostkina is one of the most exiting violonists of our times. Here - as during the Sibelius competition - she plays a violin by the german luthier Falk Peters from Aachen. His violins are in many issues superior to many old italian violons as Strads etc.

I was on her concert in Czech republic in Brno 3 weeks ago. She played 1st violin concerto from Shostakovich. It was really something extraordinary. Such a pity that there is only one video from her on youtube. She is really great fiddler.

I totally agree. Her sound is just absolutely boring. I think she's somewhat good looking. If she can improve her looks, it might help her chances of being professionally successful. Improving her playing is probably impossible because of how entrenched triteness is in her style.

haha it's because she has an angular body, that's all but she's not stiff. she does all the spiccato correctly and you've got to have some flexibility and softness in the hand to do that- she does it all very well; in the expressive bits she conveys the right intensity for this piece, it's great! :):)
