In all of Home Depot's tiling videos, I've found 2 consistent things:

1. "Wipe the tile diagonally" and the people in the video proceed to wipe vertically and horizontally.

2. The guy narrating needs to speak the hell UP. I can barely hear him.

main problem was the fact that the black squares were slightly bigger than the beige squares,it was doomed from the beginning,then to top it off he puts the spacers in the wrong way round,iv seen some bad tiling but this just tops the lot,if you have not got an eye for fine detail keep away from tiling...

I noticed a raised tile in the corner of the border bottom right.lol You have to build up a little more mortar to have them even on the surface.

This guy is terrible at cleaning the grout. You should wipe in one direction for a short distance then wash it out in clean bucket. You will be there all day cleaning up the dirty grout water he is spreading around.

I think the main problem they had here was that the grout was too thick of a consistency. Should be peanut butter. But mixing grout is so hard because if you're doing it for the first few times, it's hard to get it right- it takes practice.

you did it wrong.... you forgot to prime the sheet rock. tell your handy dandy assistant shes gonna be picking up the tiles off the floor before it even dries.

Can you explain what "prime the sheet rock" means for us newbies attempting to do a backsplash for the first time?

@JesicaLeeO it means, use a sealer on the fibre cement sheet to seal it, its almost like an undercoat for glue

@plcardinal93 they said backerboard, as in concrete, not sheet rock or drywall, some contractors concrete backerboard the backsplash, some just thin set over drywall!!
