twilight princess because its got that fun nostalgic feel and didnt feel as confined as ss, which kinda forced you down a path, at least on the areas below the clouds.
The bosses in SS were kind of disappointing. Especially the sea monster on the ship. The thing about TP to me was that the game was a living breathing world. Something that SS didn't capitalize on in my opinion. TP 10/10 SS 7/10.
After playing Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess just isn't as fun anymore. Plus the fighting in TP is too easy. SS fighting was actually challenging at times
I like skyward swords because of how you use the wiimote as the sword instead of pressing buttons. If you can do this in TP, please reply because i will buy tp if its sword controls are like that of skyward sword but I don't know the controls of tp.
@pyrushero you can kinda use them but only in like lunging, horizontal slashes and vertical slashes. SS has like all your movements down. but buy TP anyway because its such an awesome game.
@pyrushero if you have a wii you can swing the wiimote for attacks. but for gamecube it's buttons. like if you wanna do the circle swing attack where link says HYAAAH! put the nunchuck side to side .i find it fun. =D i dont have skyward sword yet so i wont judge.
@pyrushero You have swinging sword controls, but they aren't as advanced. You can do all the same moves but the particular move depends on where the control stick is pointing, not the direction of the swing. Combat in general is easier, but the game overall is still pretty challenging, but in a less frustrating way than Skyward Sword. There are one-ups that both games have... I still think Twilight Princess is the best one out there.
skyward sword sucks simple as that.i have both and ss felt too childish.it had lame graphics with predicatable gameplay.twilight princess was a better game overall.it felt more realistic and had a beautiful storyline.not to mention midna was an awesome companion that is hilarious while fi was captain obvious which was annoying.
I personally hated skyward sword. Twilight princess is my favorite game of all time, and I loved the open world feel, and all the side tasks and side stories. After that, skyward sword felt like freaking rail shooter! No freedom! I'm hugely dissapointed with nintendo for this title.
@RileyLarcher My thoughts exactly, running around the map on a horse beats flying around in an almost empty sky with the odd island any day. Fi is just really annoying, they tried to make her sound smart but instead she just sounds stupid by saying percentages all the time, she also points out the obvious. TP had a realistic feel with some fantasy elements, it felt medieval but with some made up RPG type of stuff.
I never got SS but i got TP. In TP you have two forms but SS idk i dont have it but i might try it if we go to a videogame store because theres game booths i tried it i got to boss Ghirahim or WATEVER HIS NAME IS
Even though SS is not perfect, overall I think that it is better than TP. TP has better story, better visuals, and a better world to explore, but it is too similar to OOT and it is too easy. SS made some impressive and innovative changes to the franchise, while TP just added on to stuff that past games had already done. And my biggest problem with TP is that IT IS TOO EASY! You almost never have to use your brain at all, they put no effort whatsoever into the puzzles or the AI of the enemies.
Twilight princess is better, it came out afther a long time without any new zelda games and it was a great hit (STILL). It has better graphics, story, and content than SS. i just don't feel like SS is that good, is a great game but not as much as TP\. If i had a son or daughter i know SS would be his(her) favorite game. but not mine, sorry...
i never got skyword sword cuz of the graphics and i glad they r changing that graphics to kinda the same of the Tp graphics for the LoZ game they are making for the wii-u
What got me was wii motion plus in SS but TP has better graphics and combinations and you can switch swords whenever, put attachments to 10x more items, more adventure.
to me tp is way better than skyward sword. the graphics r better and i <3 how this 1 is dark unlike the rest of the zelda games which is all bright and happy like even when you're fighting some1 like gannon also i have 2 say girhim (or however u spell his name) is REALLY creepy!!!!!!!!!!
In my opinion i feel that skyward Swords music is over rated and Twilight Princess has a better soundtrack overall i think Twilight Princess wins as a Zelda game so if you where a Zelda fan pick Twilight Princess but if you where just a gaming fan in general pick Skyward Sword as it is fun challenging and epic.........They are both in my top 5 games of all time so it dosnt really matter which is better
( MAJORA'S MASK is the best zelda game ever ). Twilight princess is better than SS, the graphic's are x100 times better, also the gameplay & storyline are dark\. i like dark and sad games, not children's. but still SS is great.
@garzap132 Skyward Sword really tells you what to do ALL THE TIME. "Master you should enter here." "There is 85% chance we should go here" "Now there is 0% chance", etc. I hated TP for being too easy, but this is NO strong point for SS over TP at all. If you think that, you really don't read the dialogues.
I see you have played Link to the Past.. And if you have done that, you should easily notice ALL that is "wrong" with SS in regards of areas, temples, items, enemies, etc.
the truth is that twilight princess was too easy, predictable, tried to hard to be like ocarina of time and its overworld was empty, too big compared to its content, while skyward sword was more balanced, and the story was the best one on a zelda game. So skyward sword is better than twilight princess, but anyone will surpass my all time favourite. MAJORA'S MASK
After playing TP, which was awsome, I was wondering if nintendo could produce a better, bigger, harder one. Unfortunately they didn't yet. SS is sweet, but it is definetly for the young generation of Zelda Fans not for nostalgic "Adventure of Link-Players" :)
In terms of the games graphic direction and the sheer number of environments I felt that Twilight Princess had the advantage. Looking back over Skyward sword it's easy to forget though how much content is actually there. Skyward feels claustrophobic and Skyloft feels like it needs more islands and areas to uncover. Where SS does have the advantage is in the story which has a much narrower focus.
Wow, I just passed skyward sword yesterday. And well I got to give it up to skyward. A lot more puzzles, longer story line and very colorful... But I have to go with twilight princess. The feeling of being able to feel like a hero is more present in this game. Just the fact of riding on epona on hyrule field gives you a great sensation and a lot of games don't do that. Skyward has a great soundtrack by the way. Both great games!
I will vouch for Skyward Sword being the better game, with consideration that I am only 1/2 way thru the game but I have 55+ hours on Twilight Princess to compare to.
Skyward Sword seemed childish to me at first, but after beating the Earth Temple the game really left an impression that Nintendo really put their fullest creativity into this game.
The story beats out TP in my books for sheer originality. Many say they like the more realistic look of TP captured a darker story, but once you've
TP wins by far! Dont get me wrong I loved playing SS & the controller to game interface was phenomenal but as daridave commented " The world is less open". I hate the fact that the primary roaming is done is in the sky. In each area, your direction is preordained more than any other Zelda game & not much free roam. As for the story itself, it is lacking so too. Maybe it is the because it's too bright & cheery. TP had a dark & gloomy setting to it giving it that feeling of near annihilation.
Twilight Princess is a fantastic game, and I love its dark setting. Yes, the mood darker than Skyward Sword's, so it made it feel more involved, and it's sense of adventure was amazing. SW however excels over its predecessor in so many ways. The world is less open, and perhaps smaller, but it's filled with content and adventure -- there are no dull moments. Item usage is greater, and the puzzles are the best I've seen yet. Here's hoping the next one combines the best of both worlds.
All Zelda games rule, If it wasn't for Zelda we wouldn't be discussing/arguing about these magical life changing games in the first place. :) WHOOOO GO ZELDA and NINTENDO
I love all the link games but I think Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are tied. TP was an amazing game with the graphics and stuff but I kinda liked SS better because of its story and the music. I just hate how they made Zelda look in SS. Smhh
@ThEChOiBoYz it really doesnt they may be more realistic but quality of image in SS is far superior i'm replaying TP after just finishing SS and the textures look far worse and the jaggy edges are heavily noticeable love TP just prefer SS overall
SS: Bosses easier than ever. Items fewer than ever. Music less Zelda'ish than ever, Areas and temples fewer than ever. Areas to explore in general fewer than ever. Secrets and extras fewer than ever. No Magic, no "dark world", no instrument (loved the harp, but it was not really "needed" and cannot really be played).
combat felt very narrow, and few choices given. VERY few enemy types.
Story of SS was very nice, except from some parts. New villain does not fit Zelda at all...
@akuseru85 they're harder than TP's i almost never lost health against TP bosses because once you figure out the formula they're easy but SS bosses dont have the usual formulas. Less items but you used them all constantly up till the end of the game as opposed to using each item for one dungeon then never using them, the areas were smaller but far more dense with puzzles and enemys which cut down the time spent simply running through rooms doing nothing, combat was far better and felt real
@akuseru85 also the areas you can explore had to be smaller because if you think about the story its the very first zelda all the humans you can interact with are in the sky therefore there are no towns or hyrule castle to visit on the surface so leaving it fully explorable would have been pointless and left huge gaps of empty fields, i love the exploration in the old zeldas just understand why its not there in the newest one, although lack of exploration is the only thing i dislike about SS
Ocarina of time is the best story ever fucking made, then twilight P, then majoras, and finaly the skyward sword and wind waker. Wii-U Zelda looks awesome.
ps: i buy the Wii just for Zelda, i buy the 64 just for zelda
Both fantastic games in their own right. Skyward Sword is beastly, but TP has more sentimental value to me because it was the first Zelda I ever played. Both awesome as hell. Why do we have to compare them? Let's compare a Zelda to some other game in a different series. Zelda vs Zelda is a fight no one can win.
I loved TP at the beginning of it, then I started to hate it towards the end. Left a bad taste in my mouth since. But I've been playing SS lately, and while I think it's good, there's a lot of stuff I dislike about it. In the end, I think they're equally flawed, but are still two very unique entries in the Zelda series.
Wait.... Something just occurred to me. If the Master Sword was made by the sages (I think) then that's like impossible for there to be a Goddess Sword otherwise it would have been mentioned in OoT which it wasn't (and don't give me crap about release dates I'm going of the story. Also if the Triforce was meant to be where the Goddess' left the earth then why are they scattered around the place where the fires are. Don't quote me on any of this though cause it's late at night and I've played ne
@H00le0 Bout time someone finally understands. It's about graphics. NOT style. Besides you have to be new to Zelda if u let graphics affect the game so majorly as to alter the decision on whether you bye it. You can have something with OoT graphics and still be better than half the games on the market today. ITS ABOUT GAMEPLAY and kinda graphics but not REALLY important (at least that's my opinion)
@Karkledog1998 It's not really about gameplay either. Video games are a combination of many forms of art. There is layout designers, character designers, musicians, concept artists, voice actors, and more that I forgot. It is a perfect combination of these things that make the best games. You may not realize it, but a solid soundtrack is in every good game out there. I do concern about the visual appeal as well. Not graphics, but just beautiful scenery that takes you somewhere else.
Uh, seriously guys? Skyward Sword has better graphics than Twilight Princess, they just have different styles. When it comes to quality of graphics, it depends on the amount of polygons the models are made out of, and Skyward Sword graphics models have more polygons than Twilight Princess graphics models.
I have yet to play skyward sword so I'm not sure which one i like better yet although i do love twilights story, it just gets annoying how everyone acts like graphics is a big deal
Why couldn't you just use SS's trailer instead of making one yourself. All u had to do was to wait a bit on the entry screen before file select (where is shows 'Skyward Sword' and press A to start) if you waited, either a white or black screen will turn up. White: trailer Black: brief description of how Skyloft was formed and all that crap
Why couldn't you just use Skyward Swords trailer instead of making a new one? You can find the trailer by simply waiting for a white, blank screen when about to press A for file select. Just wait a bit and either a white or black screen will come up, white is the trailor and black is a brief description if how Skyloft went to the sky and all that crap
1.Majoras mask - Most unique yet darkest and most mysterious from all zelda games, thats why its my number one.
2.Wind waker- at first was skeptical about art style but then started loving it again it felt unique due to landscape changed to big sea and traveling around islands.Loved it.
@MegaMike959 The Items are really bad in TP. I played SS and it was better than TP in every one of your categories. The graphics in SS are to where you can actually notice the emotion. In TP half of the items you never use. The Monster in SS were a lot better because you don't waggle to get through them. In TP I would react like "Ugh an enemy geez!" In SS I would react "Yes! an enemy!" TP was to easy and although the dungeons were bigger in TP, SS put more depth into each room. So yeah SS FTW
Twilight princess has the best story by far. That's one of the only reasons I played skyward sword was because everyone said the story was better. BOTTOM LINE: REGRET BUYING SKYWARD SWORD
@TheKittyfritters I agree but I do love Twilight Princesses map, it's number one in my book! Skyward Sword's map lacked because it was small and repetitive.
skyward sword is way better, its combat is some what challenging, while in twilightprincess is near impossible to die from combat unless your super clumsy, twilight princess feels exactly like OoT, skyward sword had better bosses, storyline, its longer, twilight princess only wins in terms of music, twilight princess is still a masterpiece, but easily the worst 3d zelda
IMO, skyward is the best. Ghirahim is a really good villain and I really liked him because he went out of his way to kidnap zelda and chased after her himself. He also has awesome catchphrases that make the fights with him memorable. The game has really awesome looking dungeons and AMAZING bosses. The game is very convienient in the dungeons as it allows you to go through the dungeon using shortcuts that you unlock. There is also a harder quest after you beat the game.
i like TP better, mainly because it still has that dark and scary eerie-ness to it like majoras mask, skyward sword is a little to closer to the wind waker style zelda games, still fun games, but i find it easier to take zelda games like OoT,majoras mask, and TP more serious, like i get more INTO the game.
@zenkicookies Actually, you were being illiterate by not capitalizing maybe. It should be, " Maybe not to you, but thats why it's called a PERSONAL OPINION you illiterate piece of shit."
@zenkicookies Yeah I half agree with you and half don't. First of all, Gameplay and Controls are really what matter in a video game, but as for the graphics. Although Twilight Princess is more dark and sophisticated, Skyward Sword's graphics were done in a way to where you could notice the character's emotion more. I remember in TP, when link was smiling he looked like he was half mad and half happy. Skyward Sword was put in a way to where the world is a lot brighter and more depth.
Just finished skyward sword. It's a great game. BUT the graphics are so insane lame. Like the new wii motion plus but anyhow i felt like i were missing alot of the combos and "action-controller" i had in TP. And one big let down is that you cant see any real progress in the world as you get further in the game. Everytime you finish a dungeon you go back to your skyworld that's totaly unaffected by what you have done. None of thee npcs even bother talking about what u are doing or have done.
TP is just as good as OoT. i really dont get it when people say it was too easy, i never had any problems finishing OoT which i did (story plus side quests) in 35 hours. in TP i was stuck many times and it took me 54 hours to finish the whole game. still need to finish completely skyward sword before judging it
they're both great games, i think boss battles and music were a bit better in twilight princess, but the story and fighting system were a bit better in skyward sword :)
skyward sword is good, but i prefer tp wii and oot 3ds, if you'rte comparing to the latest games, the way in ss you have to use the remote specifically annoys me, and centering, and the remote going wrong. I'd say ss is a good game, but unless you already have it get twilight princess instead.
@Rizzle6598 hell yeah dude. i'm definately getting a george lucasy vibe from this newer game. wich could be one of the reason i dont particularly care for it. instead of making prequel, after prequel, and ruining an already epic origin story for the series...why not just make a sequel? ya know, add to the story in a way that wont fuck up the tracks you've already laid down.
i have to say that twilight princess is better. it has great realistic graphics. a lot of original items. great story & character development. skyward sword is great but i prefer twilight princess
I used to love TP. It used to be my favorite by far, but after playing SS I do have to say that SS is better in every aspect. Nintendo really outdid themselves. SS greatly surpasses TP. As of now, SS is definitely my favorite.
TP was my favourite Zelda and I didnt like SS as much at 1st. After playing SS for a bit I got hooked on it and I have to say that the bosses were the best improvement as well as the silent realms. TP had everything going for it, but it needed a difficulty setting. I still love the game to death and all Zelda games up til now have had fairly easy boss fights. SS did everything at a smaller scale but it did it extremely well. Graphically TP is better but SS suits Zelda more imo.
@MrZangetsu468 As far as visuals go TP is better, but graphically SS is better(its not exponentially better but it is better). You're right though, TP is ridiculously easy. That and I feel that I won't enjoy the gameplay after playing SS. I fell in love with the controls and I don't really want to go back. I love the characters and the story from TP but I think that if I replay it then I'm going to ruin it for myself due to its simpler gameplay.
@Nerdy2theLimit I dont think TP will suck, it did have the sword techniques, felt like more diverse enemies (the armoured Knights & flying dragons). The twilight beings were resilient, just cake once you got the MS. TP's narrative is as good as SS' and it was what kept me playing that game for so long. How many similar games that aren't RPGs are that long with as good a narrative that isn't boring as batshit or drags on? (Similar to the Zelda series I can only think of Alundra)
@MrZangetsu468 Well I didn't mean that TP would suck(after all it was my favorite up until SS came out). I just don't remember the gameplay being that special. The only thing that made it unique were the hidden skills. What I loved about that game though was Midna. I wish that Fi would have been more like Midna and had acted more as a free spirit instead of a robot. I do think the storytelling the character development in SS was way better though.
@MrZangetsu468 And yeah I can't think of an adventure game thats as epic as Zelda(even when adventure games were still dominating the market). Hell, even RPGs aren't as great anymore. You really have to go digging if you want to find a good one.
@Nerdy2theLimit If you like ALTTP/ MC Alundras even better and quite tough. It's better than any top down Zelda imo. The narrative is sick & very mature for a ps1 title.
I like Fi, I thought Link would be losing to the last boss and Fi'd offer herself to complete the Master Sword's transformation. But I think with SS they wanted to keep it simple and focus on the Hero of Legend. I found it hilarious she used % and there were a bunch of Aztec pirate robot minors prior to OOT :)
@RiseOFtheREDs SIDEQUESTS????????? the only sidequest in the whole game was the one from the magic armor, and it was boring and tedious, twilight princess has no soul compared to other 3D zelda games, and it's too easy, i don't understand what was nintendo thinking about
i'm sorry guys, but the truth is, and zelda expertes know this, that twilight princess sucks, it's not original, is too easy, predictable story, it 's a good game, but the worst 3D zelda game
@RiseOFtheREDs You're just jealous that SS has more fun challenges than TP. Also that Po Quest was annoying you couldn't change day to night whenever you want & there's no tracker so you have to save at night time & search for an eternity. SS harder boss battles where you have to properly strike an enemy at a certain direction rather than swinging the damn wii remote at a certain location even Hero Mode. Also WHO GIVES A DAMN ABOUT REALISM BUY THE GAME PLAY IT & THIS IS 2012 BUD TP WAS 2006!!!
and i was largely dissapointed with SS's origin of the master sword. it was one of those things thats just better left to the imagination of the player. i always imagined it being forged by a group of majestic sages, kinda like a lord of the rings thing...not by some robot ghosts dancing...and why are there robots in the prequel to a set of games that take place in a middle ages like era?...Twighlight princess better, SS boring and tedious, MM epic, WW kinda boring, OoT 3D the best. Zelda. EVAH!
another reason TP was better was because you could actually explore hyrule in it...the land all these games are usually based in. the 3d zeldas were starting to piss me off because only 2 of them are actually based in hyrule. SS, WW, MM all take place somwhere else. although it complemented MM, it just helped the others to feel more disconnected from the zelda univers. OoT already told the beginings of the story, SS's story didnt fit in right with what we've already been told in previous games.
@theshawn666 Youre right. I liked it when OoT Link was the first to become a hero. That was a good beginning. Now it seems like theyre making stuff up and changing things they already said as they go along. Just my opinion though.
i enjoyed the art style in TP more because i enjoyed the darker tone, though i understand why they did what they did for SS. the cell shading helps slow done its visual ageing. realism doesnt age that well. TP was starting to look outdated the day it came out while wind waker hasnt aged a day visually. honestly i cant stand the motion controls for these newer zelda games, i'd rather have my gamecube controller then them retarded wiimotes.
twighlight princess. i've played skyward sword a little bit and watched my little brother play through the whole game in about 2 days. i dont really like skyward sword. its got less items, departs too much from the zelda formula, and for the must part was just tedious and annoying. i didnt like how the whole world was pretty much a giant dungeon, i enjoyed the breaks between temples to explore hyrule. when i want to play in one big giant dungeon i play metroid or castlevania.
ich fand twilight princess besser weil dort konnte man durch das ganze land laufen und was erkunden und da hat man nur bestimmte gebiete wo man meist nur qestet
I like TP better. I liked SS and the Silent realms were WAY better than the twilight realm. The only thing i really didnt like about SS was its lava animation, everything else was good. But i did like the story and most of the soundtrack from TP a little bit more.
I personally like Twilight Princess better. It's mood is just more dark and scary and I like it. Although I haven't finishes Skyward Sword yet so I'm not one to judge.
Skyward sword is the first generation of the whole Legend of Zelda. Gosh, it's like you guys prefer the new wrestlers in WWE more than the legends in it. (Just clearing my point here). I like Twilight princess but I find Skyward Sword more challenging and joyful. You can actually see Zelda when she's not even a princess and the characters in the game actually express feelings. Graphics aren't everything, it's the game play. TRUE gamers don't give crap about graphics.
Seriously?? Majora's Mask bad? That was one of the most unique Zelda games and I hold it as equal to OoT in quality and nostalgia. I'd have to agree that TP is probably the lamest 3D Zelda game, but Skyward Sword is a close 2nd worst. Didn't have as much interest or charm as Wind Waker did, definitely not as much as OoT or MM
Truthfully I had way more fun playing TP then Ss. I loved the graphics. But that's not what makes the game. I found it smoother, and it was a Zelda game. SS took away from the original Zelda series, it's more like some other adventure game. Buying the new shield is a pain and all the relics and things, it's kinda a pain. It feels like a mixture of windwaker, majoras mask to me. But the thing that makes me mad is I can never preform a horizontal slash, the wiimotion plus just doesn't seem to co
I absolutely LOVED TP. I will agree that it was very easy, but the storyline was great and the new enhanced look is beautiful. SS is great in its own way. Its very challenging, puzzling and keeps you moving a lot. Im not a huge fan of the look for SS, but it works. I have fun playing TP because I can roam the massive land, enjoy the gorgeous looks, and follow a phenomenal story. I have fun playing SS because the story is great, its VERY challenging and the Wiiplus works great with it.
I would say I prefer skyward sword simply because i dont remember having NEARLY as much fun playing twilight princess, but when i was playing TP I was only in 5th grade and didnt like to think as much. and this video made me remember all the awesome stuff that got dropped in the transition from Tp to skyward. I will say this though, skyward sword (whether it be the uplifting music or playful graphics) made me glad to be playing a game. the style of TP just made me want to cry in a corner.
i liked TP better personally because skyward sword has realy not that much to do with the original zelda series like i hate having to buy a friggin sheild every 20 mins and gannondorf is way cooler than Ghiraham
even Zelda The face of evil on the philips CDI was better than twiligt princess. Twilight has no chalenge at all, you dont need potion, you will never die even if you try too. 95% of chest you find contain $ you cant carry. Skyward sword was good, only the gay emo you have to beat multiple time was bad.
I HAVE played both. I vote TP.

@pyrushero You have swinging sword controls, but they aren't as advanced. @RileyLarcher My thoughts exactly, running around the map on a horse beats flying around in an almost empty sky with the odd island any day. TP had a realistic feel with some fantasy elements, it felt medieval but with some made up RPG type of stuff.

to me tp is way better than skyward sword. the graphics r better and i <3 how this 1 is dark unlike the rest of the zelda games which is all bright and happy like even when you're fighting some1 like gannon also i have 2 say girhim (or however u spell his name) is REALLY creepy!!!!!!!!!!

TP for the graphics
SS for the tech and controls
Windwaker is still one of my favorites though :)
keithtreason 2 weeks ago
My favorites are 1. A link to the past 2. Windwaker 3. Skyward Sword. I hated Twilight Princes because it told you what to do the whole time.
garzap132 2 weeks ago
@garzap132 Skyward Sword really tells you what to do ALL THE TIME. "Master you should enter here." "There is 85% chance we should go here" "Now there is 0% chance", etc. I hated TP for being too easy, but this is NO strong point for SS over TP at all. If you think that, you really don't read the dialogues.
I see you have played Link to the Past.. And if you have done that, you should easily notice ALL that is "wrong" with SS in regards of areas, temples, items, enemies, etc.
akuseru85 2 weeks ago
@garzap132 "There is an 85% chance, there is a 95% chance, I suggest you go"

the truth is that twilight princess was too easy, predictable, tried to hard to be like ocarina of time and its overworld was empty, too big compared to its content, while skyward sword was more balanced, and the story was the best one on a zelda game. So skyward sword is better than twilight princess, but anyone will surpass my all time favourite. MAJORA'S MASK

After playing TP, which was awsome, I was wondering if nintendo could produce a better, bigger, harder one. Unfortunately they didn't yet. SS is sweet, but it is definetly for the young generation of Zelda Fans not for nostalgic "Adventure of Link-Players" :)

captainjotaro 3 weeks ago
In terms of the games graphic direction and the sheer number of environments I felt that Twilight Princess had the advantage. Looking back over Skyward sword it's easy to forget though how much content is actually there. Skyward feels claustrophobic and Skyloft feels like it needs more islands and areas to uncover. Where SS does have the advantage is in the story which has a much narrower focus.
TaienQuinn 3 weeks ago

Here's hoping the next one combines the best of both worlds.

linkisahero8 2 weeks ago
@linkisahero8 having more realistic graphics doesnt make it better having better gameplay, combat, puzzles, dungeon design and bosses make SS better
paulohh2 2 weeks ago
@paulohh2 WRONG!
New villain does not fit Zelda at all...
akuseru85 2 weeks ago
@akuseru85 they're harder than TP's i almost never lost health against TP bosses because once you figure out the formula they're easy but SS bosses dont have the usual formulas. Less items but you used them all constantly up till the end of the game as opposed to using each item for one dungeon then never using them, the areas were smaller but far more dense with puzzles and enemys which cut down the time spent simply running through rooms doing nothing, combat was far better and felt real
paulohh2 2 weeks ago
@akuseru85 also the areas you can explore had to be smaller because if you think about the story its the very first zelda all the humans you can interact with are in the sky therefore there are no towns or hyrule castle to visit on the surface so leaving it fully explorable would have been pointless and left huge gaps of empty fields, i love the exploration in the old zeldas just understand why its not there in the newest one, although lack of exploration is the only thing i dislike about SS

Karkledog1998 1 month ago
@H00le0 Bout time someone finally understands. It's about graphics. NOT style. Besides you have to be new to Zelda if u let graphics affect the game so majorly as to alter the decision on whether you bye it. You can have something with OoT graphics and still be better than half the games on the market today. ITS ABOUT GAMEPLAY and kinda graphics but not REALLY important (at least that's my opinion)
Karkledog1998 1 month ago
@Karkledog1998 It's not really about gameplay either. Video games are a combination of many forms of art. There is layout designers, character designers, musicians, concept artists, voice actors, and more that I forgot. It is a perfect combination of these things that make the best games. You may not realize it, but a solid soundtrack is in every good game out there. I do concern about the visual appeal as well. Not graphics, but just beautiful scenery that takes you somewhere else.
kevizzle10 1 month ago
Uh, seriously guys? Skyward Sword has better graphics than Twilight Princess, they just have different styles. When it comes to quality of graphics, it depends on the amount of polygons the models are made out of, and Skyward Sword graphics models have more polygons than Twilight Princess graphics models.

Why couldn't you just use SS's trailer instead of making one yourself. All u had to do was to wait a bit on the entry screen before file select (where is shows 'Skyward Sword' and press A to start) if you waited, either a white or black screen will turn up. White: trailer Black: brief description of how Skyloft was formed and all that crap
tetra1219 1 month ago
Why couldn't you just use Skyward Swords trailer instead of making a new one? You can find the trailer by simply waiting for a white, blank screen when about to press A for file select. Just wait a bit and either a white or black screen will come up, white is the trailor and black is a brief description if how Skyloft went to the sky and all that crap

MegaMike959 1 month ago
@MegaMike959 The Items are really bad in TP. I played SS and it was better than TP in every one of your categories. The graphics in SS are to where you can actually notice the emotion. In TP half of the items you never use. The Monster in SS were a lot better because you don't waggle to get through them. In TP I would react like "Ugh an enemy geez!" In SS I would react "Yes! an enemy!" TP was to easy and although the dungeons were bigger in TP, SS put more depth into each room. So yeah SS FTW

Nerdy2theLimit 1 month ago
TP was my favourite Zelda and I didnt like SS as much at 1st. After playing SS for a bit I got hooked on it and I have to say that the bosses were the best improvement as well as the silent realms. TP had everything going for it, but it needed a difficulty setting. I still love the game to death and all Zelda games up til now have had fairly easy boss fights. SS did everything at a smaller scale but it did it extremely well. Graphically TP is better but SS suits Zelda more imo.
MrZangetsu468 1 month ago
@MrZangetsu468 As far as visuals go TP is better, but graphically SS is better(its not exponentially better but it is better). You're right though, TP is ridiculously easy. That and I feel that I won't enjoy the gameplay after playing SS. I fell in love with the controls and I don't really want to go back. I love the characters and the story from TP but I think that if I replay it then I'm going to ruin it for myself due to its simpler gameplay.
Nerdy2theLimit 1 month ago
@Nerdy2theLimit I dont think TP will suck, it did have the sword techniques, felt like more diverse enemies (the armoured Knights & flying dragons). The twilight beings were resilient, just cake once you got the MS. TP's narrative is as good as SS' and it was what kept me playing that game for so long. How many similar games that aren't RPGs are that long with as good a narrative that isn't boring as batshit or drags on? (Similar to the Zelda series I can only think of Alundra)
MrZangetsu468 1 month ago
@MrZangetsu468 Well I didn't mean that TP would suck(after all it was my favorite up until SS came out). I just don't remember the gameplay being that special. The only thing that made it unique were the hidden skills. What I loved about that game though was Midna. I wish that Fi would have been more like Midna and had acted more as a free spirit instead of a robot. I do think the storytelling the character development in SS was way better though.
Nerdy2theLimit 1 month ago
@MrZangetsu468 And yeah I can't think of an adventure game thats as epic as Zelda(even when adventure games were still dominating the market). Hell, even RPGs aren't as great anymore. You really have to go digging if you want to find a good one.
Nerdy2theLimit 1 month ago
@Nerdy2theLimit If you like ALTTP/ MC Alundras even better and quite tough. It's better than any top down Zelda imo. The narrative is sick & very mature for a ps1 title.
I like Fi, I thought Link would be losing to the last boss and Fi'd offer herself to complete the Master Sword's transformation. But I think with SS they wanted to keep it simple and focus on the Hero of Legend. I found it hilarious she used % and there were a bunch of Aztec pirate robot minors prior to OOT :)

JGMoneyable 1 month ago
and i was largely dissapointed with SS's origin of the master sword. it was one of those things thats just better left to the imagination of the player. i always imagined it being forged by a group of majestic sages, kinda like a lord of the rings thing...not by some robot ghosts dancing...and why are there robots in the prequel to a set of games that take place in a middle ages like era?...Twighlight princess better, SS boring and tedious, MM epic, WW kinda boring, OoT 3D the best. Zelda. EVAH!
theshawn666 1 month ago
another reason TP was better was because you could actually explore hyrule in it...the land all these games are usually based in. the 3d zeldas were starting to piss me off because only 2 of them are actually based in hyrule. SS, WW, MM all take place somwhere else. although it complemented MM, it just helped the others to feel more disconnected from the zelda univers. OoT already told the beginings of the story, SS's story didnt fit in right with what we've already been told in previous games.
theshawn666 1 month ago

I cannot STAND TP out of all five '3D' zelda games it is by far the second worst. MM is the only one worser than it.

@alastairmctavish my order for the 3d zelda games:
1. Wind Waker
2. Ocarina of Time
3. Skyward Sword
4. Twilight Princess
5. Majoras Mask
Believe me there is a BIG gap between 3 and 4.
I just hate Majoras Mask, i dont know why, ive always hated it.
