  • What happened to the Silent Orchestra clip of Salome's dance from this film...?It used to be on YouTube but I can't find it now...!

  • She's not a very good dancer.

  • Dreadful. She couldn't act, couldn't dance, and wasn't much to look at. What's with the dwarfs? and the panting Herod? It deserved to be panned. Even worse was her moronic performance in Camille, but the whole thing was embarrassingly bad. She was quite awkward in all her movements. I don't understand the accolades.

  • i came found this because kenneth anger recommends it--this sequence is amazing

  • ok lady gaga i c u

  • kind of erotic. King Herod looks like a silly monkey:)

  • Саломея должна иметь гриву волос, и волосы не должны быть бесцветны. Плохо придумано и сделано. Хореография тоже плохая. Неинтересно и не характерно. Немудренно, что фильм провалился.

  • Sorry Alla, you don't turn me on. What a waste of $350,000 this movie was. Nearly $5 million today. Which by the way shows how overpaid today's stars are. The cost of this very poor film was excessive, today's production costs are insane.

  • DIVINA DECADENCIA

  • The idea that Natacha Rambova and Nazimova were lovers is tabloid speculation and was never proven. It comes from Crowley disciple Kenneth Anger's book Hollywood Babylon, which has been called into question several times by many notable film historians.

Thank you so much for putting this online :)

  • This is the alternate score by Silent Orchestra from the Image Entertainment DVD. Thanks for posting!

  • Both "Salome' and, oddly, her Deco production of "Camille', with Valentino are exciting and different. I enjoy them.

  • Was that the original score from the movie? My DVD of it is not that clear, and I don't remember that sequence from it. Thanks for posting! But I have to disagree with you that Natacha and Alla were lovers...

  • similar to lady gagas video bad romance

  • fabulously dramatic!

    I loved it

  • Wow! A true visual delight...

    Thanks dear friend!

  • ESTETICAMENTE PERFECTO

  • Thanks for your tribute. There was another tribute on youtube of salome's entrance that I lost somehow. It was scored with some beautiful neo-indian/eastern music. The quality of the picture was crisp and clear and the musical accompaniment was awesome. Have you seen this and if so, where?

  • No, I'm afraid I haven't.

  • @wayrider1 A little late to the game, but: check out the version uploaded by SerpaTulku. I think this is the version you're referring to.

  • I love this sequence! Nazimova is amazing. Apparently this film was panned in its day and pretty much ended her career. A classic case of art being ahead of its time I guess. Thank you so much for posting this!

  • For the definitive story on Nazimova, please read the biography by

  • Those troll dudes rule!

  • LOL! Thanks for commenting!

  • I'm just an absolute fan of Rambova since I studied art direction

  • That was a real treat!!! The bubbling sexual undertones were interesting to watch.

  • Bubbling? You mean they weren't overt enough for you ...? lol! Just kidding. Thank you SO MUCH for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • I quite agree. You know, Russell made his own version of Salome called "Salome's Last Dance" with Stratford Johns and Glenda Jackson. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of it as I am this version, but, yes, certainly Russell has been influenced by this. Not to mention that Michelle Phillips played Natacha Rambova and Leslie Caron played Nazimova in Russell's "Valentino," a film I am aware that I am in the minority for adoring! lol! Thanks for commenting, Michael!

  • Great job Rick! I love this.

    Love,

    Mama

  • Thank you for watching!!

  • Could we know the year of this production, please...?

    So important always.

    Thank you.

  • 1922-1923. Different sources list it as either year. I thought I had listed the year. Thank you for calling my oversight to my attention! And thanks for watching!

  • Watching was great experience and pleasure;

    take to favorities.

    Thank you.

  • Thank you1 I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

  • This is/was great cinema .

I´m a bit enthusiastic with this clip from the movie Salome because I read the biography Rudolph Valentino. And there one finds them all : Rambova, Nazimova, this film and the work for this film etc etc....

    Wunderbar

    5*****

  • Great thing about cinema - always enduring, everlasting, ever young. Thank you, Oncle Pete!

  • Certainly Ken Russell was inspired by this.
