  • when i coated my chestnuts the jelly fell off when they were boiled.. what did i do wrong?

  • @kawaiikowai08 Did you use the tapioca flour to coat it? Once you coat it throughly it shouldn't fall off. Let the water boil really hot and then put the water chestnuts in. If the water hasn't boiled yet then it will wash away the flour coating too.

  • I love this stuff, my mom used to make it for us Now I know how to make it for myself. THANK YOU!!!!!

  • loooove this video...especially the chair idea!...im going to try it out this weekend...cross your fingers for me :)

  • @YERenriquez Good luck!!!

  • do u know how to make the tapioca strips. i've only eaten it but never seen it made and with what kind of flour/starch bag?

  • @mua3831 I tried making the strips before but they didn't turn out right. They are yummy though. From what I see you could probably try the flour that they use to make Khaub Piaj, it's already mixed together. Look for the four bag that has the 2 pictures of Khaub Piaj and tricolor strips on it. Good luck!

  • This is different from how my mom taught me. Yours seem yummier! Haha

  • @jerlis21 lol there's only one way to find out! Make it and give it a taste.

  • I've been trying to figure out how to do the water chestnuts. thanks!

p.s.... my 2 year old son loved the music for this video. he made me play it again so he could dance on top of my table. it was so cute.

  • @lucieloveskouie lol...that's too cute and funny. lol

  • thank you for the vdo. it look so yummy! can't wait for my maternity diet to be over so i can try it. Love nab vam :)

  • @aliya2353 Have fun cooking! And congrats on your new bundle of joy. :D

  • Hi Kha, I have not heard from you. Do you like my tapioca processor?

  • @Naabvaam Thanks for telling me about the processor. I did go out to the store and buy one already.

  • if you use tapioca flour and tapioca startch together it will stick better and make the chestnut look bigger and prettier.

  • @Ukn0w2 Really? So would you use the tapioca flour first and then the starch or vice versa?

  • @khax2002 you put about the same amount for each....but i usually put more tapioca flour then startch....I learned from my sister in law...who makes them for sale at some place in NC.....the brand that i use is the one that has the fishes on it...

  • @Ukn0w2 my sister in law said that if you use the brand that has the deer or something on it, it will work better than the fish ones, and then add the tapioca startch that is in the blue bag...I'm assuming that you know what it looks like, because you might live in a place where there are more variety of flour to use....I live in WA and there is very little variety...for me to choose.

  • @Ukn0w2 Great! Thanks for the advice. I just usually buy whatever I find at the store, cause they all seem the same to me but just a different picture on the cover. hahaha I will look for the fish picture next time.

  • Thanks for the great video however, can I do without the mung beans starch? What purpose does that serve or is it mostly for flavoring?

  • @pangfvlx the mung bean starch is to hold the cendol together longer as the tapioca starch is added to have the sticky shiny taste. Hope that helps.

  • Thank you for sharing the recipe to make nabvam...it is super helpful. Thanks again :D

  • @msladeelyn Glad to be of help. I'm still always learning new ways to better my cooking skills too.

  • Hi Kha, Thanks for upload your nabvam technique. I also upload my tapioca noodle processor too. You can watch it by typing Lub tsu lojxooj ua naabvaam. They are photos only.

  • @Naabvaam Thanks. I'll go take a look.

  • Use tapioca flour for the water chestnut its sticks better and it does fall apart

  • @nkuajsuab Thanks. Will try that next time. Though...what's the difference with using the tapioca flour and tapioca starch?

  • LOL....never thought of using a chair to hold the steamer top..good idea...

  • @nkuajsuab Yea...that's what I had at the moment. I wish I had the proper equipment to make it, but hey, it still works and it still tastes good. lol
