Watched this guy straight after I watched Police's 6-part Regatte de Blanc docu. Sorry, but in comparison this is so dead-a*se effing boring, it simply couldn't do less for me in terms of excitement. copeland (not my fav) has groove and sound much more appealing, so there i hear music not 'drums'.
The best drummers in the world have that perfect balance of chops and soul. Drummers like Steve Gadd and Jeff Porcaro are all groove, whereas Lang and Jojo Mayer are the two most technically gifted players ever.
Thats why the best drummers in the world are always gonna be that group of drummers that came from the 80's, incredibly quick but not generic, still so much soul and goove. Weckl, Colauita, Steve Smith, Dennis Chambers etc... One of those four. Oh and not to mention Benny Greb...

His playing is incredible, beautiful, i love those patterns and phrases he did. Incredible, monster chops, and at one point in the solo he went into a great groove as well. I do wish he was playing Sabian instead of Meinl though lol.

I think there's plenty of musicality in this. It all boils down to what you think of as musicality. I think it's creative and I can hear the beat, therefore I feel like it's musical. It's all opinion.
