Honestly, I believe that Henry was one of the best players in the world at the peak of his career. He was able to score the most amazing goals. The thing I remember most about him was how calm he was in celebrating, as if it was just another day at the office. Thierry Henry is a legend and I would honestly love to see him make a return to English football before the end of his career. One of the greatest footballers ever, in my opinion.

He only joined Arsenal because he wasn't going to get any playing time for them and this was how he planned it out. He wanted to join Arsenal and make a name for himself there and finally return back to his boyhood club. But whenever he played for Arsenal he was always loyal and gave it his all.

Also some of the younger players were intimidated by him and he felt his presence was holding them back. Also he said the only club he would play for, if he had to leave Arsenal, was Barcelona because of the opportunity to play with Ronaldinho (and Eto who he was friends with). Arsenal were still in transition with the new stadium. It was a new era.

He had almost won it with Arsenal, but the team was very young and lacked some experience in key areas. At Barca he was able to win the last trophy that he wanted to complete his career.

It wasn't long after, that he became France's alltime leader in goals (and assists).

But he was still Barca's top scorer in 07/08 with 19 goals (as a winger). Looking back on his career, it was the right decision for him to leave Arsenal at that time.

I think Henry realised that the team was not ready or experienced enough to challenge the likes of Barcelona in the Champions league. It likes Lampard and Terry at Chelsea, still after that elusive Champions league, but they chose to stay at Chelsea because the club spent money to convince them....

There are no gurantees. I'd still respect Van Persie if he decided to leave, but I hope he retires at Arsenal
