The gz hd30 and hd40 are fantastic cameras, with far superior picture quality to their similar priced sony and canon rivals - you just have to know how to use them properly. As with all camcorders - light is everything, as is getting a properly exposed image and correctly white balancing.

This is a very bad cancorder. I bought it 8 months ago and recently its sensor broke i took it to JVC and they did nothing other than keep the cam for 2 months. Look at mi videos and you will see the diference. They said this is a common problem for this line of camcorders.

Also, would you be able to specify the settings that you use while rendering and first creating the project? I really wouldn't have a clue what to enter at the start. I mean, the camera says that it outputs 1080/50P, but is that also when the footage has been backed up onto the computer? Because it also says something about being interlaced??! Uhh?

Very nice. I have the exact same camera, and this video shows it's potential very well! This particular camcorder just doesn't seem to be so popular.

hoodwin325, great video. Did you select all your settings on auto or manual? Have you tried to manually white balance with this camcorder by aimming the camcorder at a white card and manually white balancing it. Does your footage look a bit purple? My camcorder does that. Thanks
