It's nice to see a real artist at the top of the charts. Sure, her minimalist style will seem 'boring' to some compared to today's bootylicious singers (that Sade influenced). I'll take a classy singer like this any day.

Why is this "good"? The lyrics and singing sound jazzy and classy. The drum beat sounds like some music Exec insisted they add some kind of (c)Rap beat to make it attractive to 20-somethings. Sade's earlier albums showed great Jazz influence with beautiful melodies. You didn't want the songs to end. This one I can't wait until it ends... or at least the idiotic drum beat.
hmm, i think that the drum beat is there for a reason - the song is about perseverance and determination, that of love, and it is being compared to that of war.. let alone that the song is called "*soldier* of love".. not only does it bring gentle, but strong emotion to one's heart, but in my opinion, there is a touch of slight hostility, which is supported throughout the track with the drum beat :)
Her songs may be sultry, sexy, but her lyrics have always hinted at the deeper, more complicated issues of life. Sade (the band) keeps the music simple and real.

It's nice to see a real artist at the top of the charts. Sure, her minimalist style will seem 'boring' to some compared to today's bootylicious singers (that Sade influenced). I'll take a classy singer like this any day.

The video is okay, but she stil has this lack lustre voice that doesn't compare to the regular performers like Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera. So she has middle eastern inspired orchestral sounds in the background but that's what makes the song come alive. Her voice is uninspiring and dull

soldier isn't quite mainstream. i doubt it was sade's goal to make the song commercial but if people who've never heard of sade before like the song and want to buy the album because of it then good.

Thank u so much! I am so glad that she is back after almost 10 years! I am so happy that she is still the same unique, singing from her heart. Thank God she is not commercial like LadyGaga, Britney Spears, Beyonce and the rest. What concerns her age she makes music appropriate to her age not like Madonna who can't face getting old and is still jumping like a 20 year girl!! and I think thats a discrimation of women to say she should retire because of her age!!!She should definetly continue!!!!

It just hit me, I've seen that soldier dance choreography somewhere before... where have I seen... Oh yes! Public Enemy! They had a troop of guys behind them doing many of those military like moves. Very evident @4:40
Aside from that the video is a work of art, a stellar song and so good to have her presence again in the music world. We needed Sade to save us from the Bejonce's and Good Gagas and Timberlames. Thank you Sade!

Why is this "good"? The lyrics and singing sound jazzy and classy. The drum beat sounds like some music Exec insisted they add some kind of (c)Rap beat to make it attractive to 20-somethings. Sade's earlier albums showed great Jazz influence with beautiful melodies. You didn't want the songs to end. This one I can't wait until it ends... or at least the idiotic drum beat.

hmm, i think that the drum beat is there for a reason - the song is about perseverance and determination, that of love, and it is being compared to that of war.. let alone that the song is called "*soldier* of love".. not only does it bring gentle, but strong emotion to one's heart, but in my opinion, there is a touch of slight hostility, which is supported throughout the track with the drum beat :)

Her songs may be sultry, sexy, but her lyrics have always hinted at the deeper, more complicated issues of life. Sade (the band) keeps the music simple and real.
